Selkie as a name?

It would be hypothetical middle name, but we can’t hide it because of that.
What do you think of [name_f]Selkie[/name_f] as a name? Some ideas are [name_f]Bethany[/name_f] [name_f]Selkie[/name_f] or [name_f]Helena[/name_f] [name_f]Selkie[/name_f], so definitely a middle, but just because it’s a middle, doesn’t mean it would be easy to hide it since both names should be used.
Any similar names in sound? I only like it due to sounds. I like how sleek it sounds, yet it has sharp k at the very end.
Usable or not?

I would appreciate similar names suggestion, not very crazy about the meaning or wordiness.

I’m not the biggest fan of it simply because the story behind it is sad (mythical sea-women being kidnapped against their will), but the sound is very cool.

What about [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], Sookie/Sukey, [name_f]Selphie[/name_f]?

I used to have a few Selkie combos myself  I agree, the meaning isn’t necessarily the happiest, but I love the sound and the mythological ties nonetheless.

Perhaps you might like Selke?

not very much fan of [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] because we have common variation of [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] (Silvana) being perceived kind of dated. [name_f]Selphie[/name_f] sounds very selfie-sh, which I think is a shame.

You reminded me of dutch [name_f]Silke[/name_f], which reminds me of silk. Hmmm.

I love it. Selkies have always fascinated me as a myth, and I’m a huge fan of unique and unusual word names.

I’m not a fan of [name_f]Bethany[/name_f] because it feels very stuffy and dated where I live. And I’m normally not a fan of [name_f]Helena[/name_f] either, but I think [name_f]Helena[/name_f] [name_f]Selkie[/name_f] is magical! All those lovely E and L sounds really tie the names together into something very fluid and ethereal.
