So many people on here seem to love Saskia for me— and I totally agree! It’s spunky, sassy, uncommon but not difficult to wear, has a badass meaning, and totally fits my YA badass protagonist vibe. As much as I love it, there’s always something that gives me pause when thinking about it on my top 10.
I wondered if it was because the name feels more frilly next to the other girl names I love. Maybe it’s the -ia ending or the fact that it isn’t unisex or a word name, but then I think about Eleni and how I don’t have a problem with her in my top 10. I can see myself with a daughter named Eleni as much as I can for Saskia. So I’m wondering if maybe it’s because I absolutely adore my Eleni Courage combo. I’ve never been able to find a middle name for Saskia that clicks the same way that combo does.
Since you guys love Saskia for me so much, beyond that tiny shred of doubt that I have, I’d love your help selling me on her! What middle names would you pair with her that would push her over the edge to being a baby ninja name? Since Saskia isn’t a word name, feel free to go crazy. I want to feel her for myself as much as others do!

It’s a beautiful, uncommon choice. Saskia could have the nickname Sas, which works nicely since you like word names. Sasha could be another nickname, which is unisex like a lot of the names you like. Maybe it could be used as a middle name for a unisex first name you love to make it a bit more feminine. Hope this helps!

I read it in a book once, and I never forgot it. It’s so sparky and feminine. It’s versatile and has a unique sound. [name_u]Love[/name_u] it! It really does have that YA protagonist feel to it.

It’s so lively snd spunky and characterful. I always had it in mind for a future daughter, but annoyingly it’s my husband’s cousin’s name! She gets called Sass or Sassy, which I think is just the most fabulous nickname.
I love that it feels punchy and modern, but has a long history and the arty connection. It is undeniably a feminine name, unlike many of the unisex names on your list, but it matches them in terms of energy and freshness.

I think this might be why I always pause at Saskia for you. Eleni has more of a unisex vibe/sound to me, even if it isn’t a unisex name.
That said, I adore Saskia and would love yo see it on your list. The Sas- sound is just so sassy and spunky. I actually think Sassy would be a cute nickname for a little Saskia. I love the Kia sound, and I’ve just recently realized I’m very attracted to names that contain -ask-. Just great sounds throughout the entire name.
Eleni Courage is utter perfection, so I can that why that could possibly be tripping you up with Saskia.

What I love about [name_f]Saskia[/name_f] is that it’s an established name that still feels totally fresh and exciting in an [name_f]English[/name_f] context. The quirk and otherness that many people often find in word names are exactly what I see in [name_f]Saskia[/name_f], while she doesn’t feel as trendy as many word names do to me.
As for feeling frilly, that’s something I’d never associate with [name_f]Saskia[/name_f], the strong S and K sounds totally balance the -ia ending out and give her a more bouncy melodic vibe, along the lines of [name_f]Matilda[/name_f].
For you I’d pair [name_f]Saskia[/name_f] with a word middle name, maybe:
