Recently I was reading a book (Gates of Paradise by [name]Melissa[/name] de la [name]Cruz[/name]) where a girl character was named [name]Seraphina[/name] but went by [name]Finn[/name]. I thought this was an adorable nickname for such a beautiful name! [name]Seraphina[/name] is on the top of my list, but it is very long and probably would need a nickname. Could [name]Finn[/name] be usable even though it’s mostly for boys? What do you think of this idea?
I totally think it is usable. Works with the full name and is very sweet sounding. It would be hard for me to pass up [name]Sera[/name], though. And if you love love [name]Seraphina[/name], I’d be sure to still use that name from time to time! You wouldn’t want her to TOTALLY become a [name]Finn[/name] and lose the full name. (ex: I know a [name]Scarlett[/name] whose parents nicknamed her [name]Carly[/name]. [name]Carly[/name] was too much of a name on its own and she totally lost the [name]Scarlett[/name] part. She actually wished her parents had just called her “Scar” for short here and there.)
Yes I would definitely still be using [name]Seraphina[/name]! It’s too beautiful a name to disappear!
Yes!!! I’m so jealous! Please use it I used it as my daughters middle name so I can’t re-use for this baby but I also love the nn’s Sephie, [name]Effie[/name], Sephine/Sephina, [name]Finn[/name], [name]Fia[/name]
Those are great nicknames too, thanks!
It makes me sad, honestly. [name]Seraphina[/name] is such a lovely, grand name. I don’t really understand giving a name with such power and then calling her [name]Finn[/name]. It’s just disappointing to me.
[name]Finn[/name] in itself isn’t disappointing, but [name]Seraphina[/name] overshadowed by [name]Finn[/name] is.
Yikes, I feel like a bit of a bummer, but that seems like huge stretch. Maybe it’s just me though. I could never use it because (1) it just doesn’t seem to fit and (2) it’s a boy’s name. I do love [name]Seraphina[/name] and I like the nn [name]Fee[/name] (along with all the other great nns!), though, which is sort of similar, but is more feminine. Sorry! [name]Just[/name] my opinion.
To me it’s not the best, it’s totally unrelated, and it’s a boys name, and it even sounds different. The phina is said fee-na, and [name]Finn[/name] is fin.
My nickname idea for [name]Seraphina[/name] is [name]Nina[/name], which makes more sense in my head than [name]Finn[/name].
Oh I like [name]Nina[/name] too, I’ve never thought of that.
This, 100% is what I was thinking in regards to the sound difference. No idea how you get [name]Finn[/name] from [name]Seraphina[/name] without mispronouncing it. [name]Nina[/name] is a great idea!!!
I like all the other nicknames the other berries have suggested… and to me, [name]Finn[/name] works. I would also like Finny!
