Seraphine vs. Emiliana vs. Juliana

I’m 37 weeks now with a surprise gender baby so I’m really trying to nail down names asap! We really switched gears with name choices for girls the last few days so would like some opinions…

We had been liking [name_f]Liana[/name_f] but thought it needed a fuller name like [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] (not really into [name_f]Liliana[/name_f]) but like the newly found [name_f]Emiliana[/name_f] better. Is it too much of a mouthful? We like [name_f]Juliana[/name_f] but aren’t positive about it yet either.

Also we’re loving [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] but don’t know how usable it really is. I do have a distant [name_m]Serafino[/name_m] in my family tree but like the french spelling/variation better than [name_f]Serafina[/name_f] for a girl.

Our first born is [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f].

[name_f]Emiliana[/name_f] feels a bit ethnic to me, I picture an Italian girl. [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] is more versatile. Out of the three, I prefer [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f]. I think it’s beautiful with sister [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f].

I vote [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] with sister [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f].

Another note for [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f].

I have [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] on my list, so… I’m totally biased. Another vote for [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f]. I like [name_f]Emiliana[/name_f] too, but prefer [name_f]Eliana[/name_f].

I prefer [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f], although [name_f]Emiliana[/name_f] isn’t bad.

Another for [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f]. I do love [name_f]Liana[/name_f] just by herself, though. I used to know a [name_f]Liana[/name_f], and we all loved her name when we were kids.

I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] a [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] and it is perfection with [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]… Does [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] have a nickname? [name_f]My[/name_f] hesitancy about using [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] up front is that I can’t find a nickname for her I love!

I also vote for [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] (slightly prefer [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] though). Nn could be Saffy/Seffy, Innie or my favourite [name_f]Fina[/name_f] (means something like ‘the pretty one’ in Swedish). [name_f]Emiliana[/name_f] is a bit too frilly for me. Good luck!

I honestly like [name_f]Liana[/name_f] by itself better than your other options. It is 3 syllables so it doesn’t need a longer form. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have any middle name ideas? I really like [name_f]Liana[/name_f] [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f], and I think it works well with big sister [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f].

[name_f]Emiliana[/name_f], to me, manages to be both overly complicated and indistinct. [name_f]Liana[/name_f] is just fine on its own. I also like [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f].

I like both [name_f]Juliana[/name_f] and [name_f]Emiliana[/name_f] a lot. However, I prefer [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] to [name_f]Emiliana[/name_f] as it’s a little more straight forward. Obviously, I’m in the minority but I’m not a big fan of [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f].

[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] sounds very [name_m]French[/name_m], I think [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] and [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] would make for the best sibset. But all your options are gorgeous.

The [name_m]French[/name_m] [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] would make a lovely sibling name for [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]'s sister. [name_f]Juliana[/name_f] would be my distant second choice. [name_f]Emiliana[/name_f] just seems too long and fussy.

I love [name_f]Juliana[/name_f]! I think we must have similar name taste because with our daughter, our top two choices were [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] (or [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]–we were divided) and [name_f]Juliana[/name_f]. Ultimately we went with [name_f]Madeline[/name_f]–because she just looked more like a [name_f]Madeline[/name_f]! I still love [name_f]Juliana[/name_f] so much. [name_f]Emiliana[/name_f] is very pretty too, though maybe a bit of a mouthful but if you have a simple last name, I would think it’s more useable than ever. I don’t care for [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f].

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f]! If you’re unsure, have you considered [name_m]Seraphim[/name_m]? Does that feel more usable?

[name_f]Emiliana[/name_f] is beautiful. I love it. It’s definitely a long name but has nice flow and sound so I don’t think it’s too much of a mouthful. One thing I love to do is have my 5 year old nephew say the names I like. Sometimes he totally botches 'em and it’s so adorable. If you’re worried about [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] is an equally beautiful alternative.

I think [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] is very usable. It’s a little dramatic, but not over the top and I think it’s a little more grounded / accessible do to the fact that it begins with [name_f]Sera[/name_f]. I also think it works wonderfully with [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f].

In this poll, I’m being drawn towards [name_f]Juliana[/name_f] for my top choice, however I would love to see [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] on a birth certificate.
In other words, though I personally love [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f], my gut says that [name_f]Juliana[/name_f] is my top pick for you.

Thanks for all of the opinions! We are leaning toward [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] at the moment and now just need the perfect middle!

[name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] and [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] make a nice sibset. [name_f]Emiliana[/name_f] is too over the top. [name_f]Juliana[/name_f] is bland.
