🌌 seren

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone! I hope you’re doing ok today :yellow_heart:

Lately I’ve been thinking about the lovely [name_u]Seren[/name_u], which means “star”. To me, [name_u]Seren[/name_u] feels sweet & peaceful, with a bit of sparkle, and I’m really loving it as an alternative to [name_m]Soren[/name_m]! I have a few questions — feel free to answer as many or as few as you’d like

1. What imagery do you get from [name_u]Seren[/name_u]?

2. Does [name_u]Seren[/name_u] lean feminine or masculine for you, or does it feel neutral?

3. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you prefer [name_u]Seren[/name_u] for one gender over another?

4. If you had a child named [name_u]Seren[/name_u], what would their middle name(s) be?

5. If you had a child named [name_u]Seren[/name_u], what would you call their siblings?

Thanks in advance

  1. Brightness. [name_f]Clarity[/name_f]. [name_u]Night[/name_u] skies. Twinkling lights. And also cheese because “ser”, in my native language, means cheese.

2 & 3. Strictly feminine.

  1. [name_u]Seren[/name_u] [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f].

  2. [name_u]Seren[/name_u], Arwel, and [name_f]Ffion[/name_f].

1. What imagery do you get from Seren?
i think of the sea - maybe because it reminds me of sirens! it brings to mind colours like muted moss green and peaceful grey-blue

2. Does Seren lean feminine or masculine for you, or does it feel neutral? & 3. Do you prefer Seren for one gender over another?
i consider it neutral, but i do prefer it on a girl just slightly - only because for a boy i like the similar soren more

(skipping 4 because i hate making combos haha hope you don’t mind)

5. If you had a child named Seren, what would you call their siblings?

it depends on what gender seren is! for a boy it sounds more funky european to me, whereas for a girl it feels more trendy mystical. with a girl seren, i’d expect siblings with names like lilia, astrid, dove, cove, emrys, rafferty, beck, wren, etc. and with a boy seren i’d be more likely to think of lenka, anya, maja, violetta, kasper, aksel, leon, marius, etc.

[name_u]Seren[/name_u]

For me I picture greenery, lush meadows thick with [name_f]Heather[/name_f], beautiful pebbled beaches, bright clear beautiful starry nights and rural landscapes.

Feminine! She’s all girl to me!

[name_u]Seren[/name_u] [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] :sparkles:

I would name her sisters [name_f]Eleri[/name_f] & [name_f]Cerys[/name_f].

I would name her brother [name_m]Cormac[/name_m] & [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m].

[name_u]Love[/name_u] Seren!!

1. What imagery do you get from [name_u]Seren[/name_u]?

To me, [name_u]Seren[/name_u] is a name that manages to be both starry and earthy - like stars above a desert, or stars above the sea at night. I see shades of orange and gold, blue and black.

2. Does [name_u]Seren[/name_u] lean feminine or masculine for you, or does it feel neutral?

It leans feminine to me, possibly because I’ve encountered one [name_u]Seren[/name_u] who was a girl, so that’s my first IRL association, but I could see it as neutral

3. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you prefer [name_u]Seren[/name_u] for one gender over another?

Probably as a feminine name but that’s possibly because I like working with feminine names best :person_shrugging: I could see it as neutral or masc though - along the lines of [name_m]Soren[/name_m] and [name_m]Stellan[/name_m]

4. If you had a child named [name_u]Seren[/name_u], what would their middle name(s) be?

I’m thinking:

[name_u]Seren[/name_u] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_u]Seren[/name_u] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]
[name_u]Seren[/name_u] [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f]
[name_u]Seren[/name_u] [name_u]Quincey[/name_u]
[name_u]Seren[/name_u] [name_u]Indigo[/name_u]
[name_u]Seren[/name_u] [name_u]Jasper[/name_u]
[name_u]Seren[/name_u] [name_m]Kester[/name_m]
[name_u]Seren[/name_u] [name_u]Mack[/name_u]

5. If you had a child named [name_u]Seren[/name_u], what would you call their siblings?

[name_u]Seren[/name_u] and…

[name_f]Mabli[/name_f]
[name_m]Sholto[/name_m]
[name_u]Clancy[/name_u]
[name_u]Murphy[/name_u]
[name_f]Delyth[/name_f]
Rosfrith
[name_f]Carys[/name_f]

What imagery do you get from Seren?
Very similar to the emoji you chose actually! It’s dark blues and a calming, still night sky.

Does Seren lean feminine or masculine for you, or does it feel neutral?

It is neutral to me, but slightly leaning feminine.

Do you prefer Seren for one gender over another?

I think I prefer it for a girl, because I like [name_m]Soren[/name_m] more for a boy

If you had a child named Seren, what would their middle name(s) be?

For a girl: [name_u]Seren[/name_u] [name_f]Cosima[/name_f] (maybe a bit to space-y but I like it)
For a boy: [name_u]Seren[/name_u] [name_m]Endymion[/name_m]

If you had a child named Seren, what would you call their siblings?

[name_u]Seren[/name_u] + Viridia
[name_u]Seren[/name_u] + [name_u]Ventura[/name_u] + [name_m]Apollo[/name_m]

  1. [name_u]Seren[/name_u] immediately makes me think of the deep sea. [name_m]Blues[/name_m] and coral reefs and puffer fish and moonlight… mostly because this name sounds and looks so much like the word ‘siren’ that that’s all it makes me think of. It’s a very dark, twinkling, mermaid-y name, to me! :mermaid:t2:

  2. It definitely leans femme to me, due to ‘siren’ as well as [name_f]Serena[/name_f] similarities.

  3. I prefer it femme or enby. Doesn’t feel very masc at all to me. I’d rather [name_m]Soren[/name_m] for a boy.

  4. Hmm. I’m liking [name_f]Jocasta[/name_f] and [name_f]Calliope[/name_f] as middles, though I personally wouldn’t use those. I think they sound great! I’d maybe go for [name_f]Elsabet[/name_f], [name_f]Liv[/name_f], or [name_f]Beulah[/name_f].

  5. I like [name_u]Clove[/name_u], [name_u]Eden[/name_u], [name_u]Lemmitty[/name_u], [name_u]Seeley[/name_u], and [name_f]Katniss[/name_f] for sister names, then [name_m]Sonder[/name_m], [name_m]Flint[/name_m], [name_u]Merit[/name_u], [name_m]Cosmo[/name_m], and [name_u]Beck[/name_u] for brothers! [name_u]Wiley[/name_u] I love for a sibling of any gender.

  1. [name_u]Seren[/name_u] for me is bright and a little fiery. Like a bright star in the night sky, yet you know its a sun far far away. A girl with wild blood red hair comes to mind with passionate and adventurous personality.
  2. I have only thought about it for a female, but it could work fantastically as a masculine name, too.
  3. Feminine. I also like Serenola that comes from the same word.
  4. That’s hard! For a girl, maybe [name_u]Seren[/name_u] [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]? [name_u]Seren[/name_u] [name_u]Tatum[/name_u] and [name_u]Seren[/name_u] [name_u]Maxwell[/name_u] for a boy.

this is the name of one of my best friends, so many of my answers are influenced by her

  1. seren is very outdoorsy, forests, seventies hippy vibes, earth tones and campfires
  2. this leans quite strongly feminine to me - this is likely at least in part because of my friend, though i think i considered it feminine before we met. i wouldn’t be shocked or confused by a masc seren, but it definitely feels like a fem name to me.
  3. i prefer it for a girl
  4. seren amaranthe fialka
  5. seren, lapis, river, and arden

(i’m pronouncing seren with the exact same cadence as the number seven, like SEH-run)
