Serena or Athena? (Poll)

I like both [name_f]Serena[/name_f] and [name_f]Athena[/name_f] as top names on my list, but the fact that they rhyme makes me assume I will someday have to choose between the two (I can’t imagine using BOTH in a future sibset, but let me know if you think it is workable)! Overall, which name do you prefer and why?

I picked [name_f]Serena[/name_f] because it’s high on my own list. I love that it has [name_f]Serene[/name_f] in the name.

I really like [name_f]Athena[/name_f] though! It is such a strong name

Such a hard choice! I’m glad I’m not the only one who likes both.

Good to know that you were able to narrow it down to one name, though.

Hopefully this poll will help me do the same! :crossed_fingers:

I really like both. They’re elegant, regal and strong. I voted for [name_f]Serena[/name_f] because I think it’s slightly more grounded than [name_f]Athena[/name_f] and therefore more wearable. It’s a powerful sounding name, but its meaning adds some gentle air to it, which I love.

I voted for [name_f]Athena[/name_f], but to be honest I think they’re both really beautiful names!

Serena is beautiful! She feels so cultured and vibrant, yet “serene” (I know that sounds like a joke, but she really does). [name_f]Athena[/name_f] doesn’t appeal to me, personally.

If it were just about the mythology, I would say hands down [name_f]Athena[/name_f]. But I voted for [name_f]Serena[/name_f] because I prefer it as a name. They are both gorgeous and you can’t go wrong.

I get better imagery with [name_f]Athena[/name_f]!

I love [name_f]Athena[/name_f] so much! so beautiful and strong. I agree with @may.rose about better imagery too!
[name_f]Serena[/name_f] is also nice, but there’s just something special about [name_f]Athena[/name_f]!

Athena is so striking and powerful. It’s very high on my own list.
[name_f]Serena[/name_f] doesn’t do much for me, sorry.

I’ve always loved [name_f]Athena[/name_f]! Definitely one of my top choices on my list! I knew someone back in grade school with this name. She was sweet and it’s totally wearable. I like [name_f]Serena[/name_f] too but I love the goddess of wisdom much more!

I voted [name_f]Serena[/name_f], but both are beautiful!

These are both in my top girls names so it was really tough to choose!

I went with [name_f]Serena[/name_f] because it’s such a beautiful, tranquil, peaceful name but also has really strong namesakes i.e. [name_f]Serena[/name_f] [name_m]Williams[/name_m]. I also think it’s more wearable, ages better and doesn’t have a super strong connotation with a particular mythology that the child may or may not grow up to like/respect.

I also reckon [name_f]Athena[/name_f] is going to rise in popularity on the wings of [name_f]Aurora[/name_f], [name_f]Aria[/name_f], [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] etc and so it might be less appealing in 5 years.

Athena is amazing though. Both absolutely stunning names.

I love [name_f]Serena[/name_f]! I feel like I’m the only one, but I’ve never really seen the appeal of [name_f]Athena[/name_f], sorry. But honestly, [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] and [name_f]Adele[/name_f] are my top 2, and I can see [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] and [name_f]Adele[/name_f] as sisters just as easily as I can [name_f]Serena[/name_f] and [name_f]Athena[/name_f]? Maybe I shouldn’t use [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] and [name_f]Adele[/name_f] together, either, but at this point I haven’t really been eliminating names based on similarities, and if I had two daughters, I’m honestly not sure I could name them anything BUT [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] and [name_f]Adele[/name_f], lol.

Good luck!
