Suggestions of other names like this****

Thanks, [name_u]Jules[/name_u]:cherry_blossom:

I love the nickname [name_u]Shay[/name_u]. Or [name_m]Shai[/name_m]/[name_u]Shea[/name_u], however you want to spell it.

Shailene is going to explode, in my opinion, now that Divergent has come out and that the main character is Shailene Woodley. I’ve never been a huge fan of the name itself, but the nickname [name_u]Shay[/name_u] makes it almost worth it for me. I’m not sure if [name_u]Shay[/name_u] could stand on its own… Similar :

[name_u]Cheyenne[/name_u]
[name_f]Cheyanne[/name_f]
[name_f]Shyanne[/name_f]
[name_f]Shayanne[/name_f]
Shailey
[name_u]Shannon[/name_u]

I don’t like Shailene personally. Not familiar with Divergent aside from a couple previews so can’t say much for that.

I like [name_u]Shea[/name_u]/[name_u]Shay[/name_u] on its own (I know a couple girls and a couple boys with this name), or possibly [name_f]Shayla[/name_f]. I also know a [name_f]Shaina[/name_f].

To clarify, Shailene Woodley is the actress who stars in Divergent and will also be starring in the upcoming adaptation of The Fault In Our Stars. I do think the name is going to get a bit of an uptick in popularity, but it’s just a bit too creative and a bit too tied to the one actress for me to enjoy. I do think [name_u]Shea[/name_u] could stand on its own

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_u]Shay[/name_u]/ [name_u]Shae[/name_u].
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Shayla[/name_f] and Shaylynn.
Really not liking Shailene- to me it sounds old fashioned- like [name_f]Darlene[/name_f].

Sounds incredibly unappetizing to me. I guess that’s good, if you’re worried about popularity!

  • [name_f]Lene[/name_f] always has an uphill battle to avoid the [name_f]Lurleen[/name_f]/[name_f]Darlene[/name_f]/Raelene/[name_f]Charlene[/name_f] imagery. Sh- is also a hard sound to not sound trashy or dated. I gotta say I’m not feeling the other suggestions in this thread, either. So maybe it’s just a style I don’t get.

All of the names in your sig are classier, [name_f]IMO[/name_f].

The closest I can come for a suggestion I love is [name_f]Sabine[/name_f] (sah-BEEN).

Not keen on Shailene. Sounds like saline. [name_f]Sabine[/name_f] is lovely.
[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite of the waitressy ā€œineā€ names is [name_f]Nadine[/name_f]. But pronounced with a short A. I love [name_f]Sheila[/name_f] too (even though it’s kind of dated) or the Irish spelling, SĆle.

this exactly, when I saw the name my first thought was Shailene Woodley

[name_f]My[/name_f] first thought was Shailene Woodley as well.

Shailene feels dated, along with [name_f]Kayleen[/name_f].

I don’t love Shailene and I think its going to take off because of the new Divergent star

I always thought it was said Shy-leen. I prefer just [name_u]Shae[/name_u]

Really dislike it sorry. In Australia the ā€˜lene’ names don’t exactly conjure up class and beauty…

I don’t love [name_u]Shae[/name_u] but definitely prefer it.

Shailene is a bit precious and sounds dated…I’d opt for [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u].

[name_f]My[/name_f] mind goes to Shailene Woodley as well. I’m not a big fan of the name itself. Maybe [name_f]Sabine[/name_f]?
