Share your best naming advices

Many people on this forum give sensible advice when it comes to picking a name. [name_f]Share[/name_f] the ones that helped you the most. Here is my top three:

  1. If you ask people around you what they think of the name, keep in mind that in the end, the most important is that both parents love the name they pick for their child. It’s not the uncles, aunts or grand parents who will have to say the name a hundred times every day :wink:

  2. When you ask for others’ opinion on your list, pay attention to how it makes you feel. Are you more happy when one of the names gets good feedback or more disappointed when it gets criticisms?

  3. Instead of choosing THE name during the pregnancy, keep a short list with your favorites and wait until you meet your child for the final decision. Sometimes one of the names just suddenly feels right.

I can’t say if it’s helpful because I haven’t named anyone yet. But I love the advice to name every child like it’s your last. You never know when it might be.
