Shay & Ayla as sisters

We have a 2yo Daughter named [name_u]Shay[/name_u] & are pregnant with our second girl. I’m loving [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] at the moment but worried they sound funny together? [name_u]Shay[/name_u] & [name_f]Ayla[/name_f].
I can imagine people putting them together & saying [name_f]Shayla[/name_f].
What does everyone think?

This would be my only concern.

Just a note: It’s kind of been adopted to pronounce the name phonetically, but the original/correct pronunciation is different: eye-luh.

Well, [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] is actually pronounced the same as [name_f]Isla[/name_f] and [name_f]Ila[/name_f]. But I do think they look similar. Some other ideas to go with [name_u]Shay[/name_u]:

[name_u]Beck[/name_u]
[name_u]Blair[/name_u]
[name_f]Bree[/name_f]
[name_f]Ceil[/name_f]
[name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_u]Drew[/name_u]
[name_f]Elle[/name_f]
[name_u]Flynn[/name_u]
[name_u]Greer[/name_u]
[name_u]Joss[/name_u]
[name_u]Jude[/name_u]
[name_u]Jules[/name_u]
[name_u]Kai[/name_u]
[name_u]Kit[/name_u]
[name_f]Liv[/name_f]
[name_u]Lou[/name_u]
[name_f]Neele[/name_f]
[name_f]Nell[/name_f]
[name_f]Neve[/name_f]
[name_u]Quinn[/name_u]
[name_u]Reese[/name_u]
[name_f]Rell[/name_f]
[name_f]Tess[/name_f]
[name_u]Wynn[/name_u]

I don’t think it would be an issue, it looks similar on paper, but as long as you’re pronouncing [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] EYE-la, they sound different enough not to get smushed.

I think they sound great together and I wouldn’t worry about the [name_f]Shayla[/name_f] thing, I really don’t think that anyone would do that

I think they’re fine together:)

Yeah I think it gets smushed. I also consider them two different tastes. [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] sounds like a sister [name_f]Camila[/name_f] & [name_f]Elena[/name_f] aka what I’d call the “Bilingual beauty” style (soft feminine names that work in 2 or more languages). [name_u]Shay[/name_u] to me would be sister to [name_u]Cali[/name_u] or [name_f]Bree[/name_f] or what I’d call “The effortless cool girl”. I’m going to give you some suggestions I think would sound good with [name_u]Shay[/name_u] and let me know if I’m way off base

How about -
[name_u]Kenna[/name_u]
[name_f]Bree[/name_f]
[name_u]Remi[/name_u]
[name_u]Wren[/name_u]
[name_u]Zuri[/name_u]
[name_u]Bobbie[/name_u]
[name_u]Mickie[/name_u]
[name_f]Raelyn[/name_f]
[name_u]Cass[/name_u]
[name_u]Charlie[/name_u]
[name_u]Piper[/name_u]
[name_u]Indy[/name_u]
[name_u]Stevie[/name_u]
[name_u]Ember[/name_u]
[name_u]Dior[/name_u]
[name_f]Kiara[/name_f]
[name_f]Liv[/name_f]
[name_f]Cleo[/name_f]
[name_f]Avani[/name_f]
[name_u]Blair[/name_u]
[name_u]Coco[/name_u]
[name_u]Aja[/name_u]

[name_f]My[/name_f] personal choice would be [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] - it’s spunky and sweet and they share an initial but still sound distinctive enough. If you are planning more kids or don’t want to share an initial however I’d go with [name_u]Remi[/name_u]

Most people will pronounce this Ay-luh. If you want the Eye-luh pronunciation I would go with [name_f]Isla[/name_f]

I think they are great together (and really pretty too!)

I am a person who does the mashup thing, I would be guilty of saying [name_f]Shayla[/name_f], or even [name_f]Shyla[/name_f]! Maybe if you love the name it could be a middle if that is a concern, because it is a lovely name.

I think it would be possible to pull it off, but I could see it being a tongue-twister even for family at times! It really depends on if you think [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] is worth it!

[name_f]My[/name_f] name is [name_f]Ayla[/name_f], so I’m probably not the best person to comment, because my sisters name is the only name I can think of beside mine
We’re [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] [name_u]Lynn[/name_u] and [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] [name_m]Jennings[/name_m]
