I love the name [name]Atalanta[/name], no question, but…
Did you immediately read it as “[name]Atlanta[/name]”? [name]Do[/name] you think she’ll be correcting people forever?

At first glance I did read it as [name]Atlanta[/name]. I foresee a lifetime of corrections. Middle name, maybe?
Yes, I do.
At first glance I saw [name]Atlanta[/name] until I took a second glance.
I saw [name]Atlanta[/name], too.
I agree with the previous posters. I think you should use it as a middle name.
[name]Even[/name] though I read the name with the “extra” a, I still thought “[name]Atlanta[/name]”. Lots of people might think it’s a typo and “correct” it. (I get that -people correct the spelling of my name and make it incorrect -grrr.!!!
I also read [name]Atlanta[/name] but I think both [name]Atalanta[/name] and [name]Atlanta[/name] are beautiful
Sorry, I read [name]Atlanta[/name] too!
Too many difficulties, sorry. Maybe use the name [name]Alana[/name]? Still beautiful, but easier to pronounce. Other suggestions that are all somewhat similar: [name]Atlee[/name], [name]Aria[/name], or [name]Adalina[/name]. Good luck!
I read [name]Atlanta[/name] too. And I agree with lilysong that people will probably think it’s a typo. I like the suggestions for using it as a mn if you really love it!
Curious as to what appeals to you about [name]Atalanta[/name]? Would you also like [name]Atlanta[/name] as a name? I don’t particularly care for either, but both are going to make people think of [name]Atlanta[/name], and with [name]Atalanta[/name] there is the added issue of having it look misspelled. They don’t sound that different to me.
I read it correctly the first time, but she will definitely be correcting people her whole life, and many will assume she’s named for the city [name]Atlanta[/name] or perhaps [name]Atlantis[/name].
[name]Atalanta[/name] is on my slightly long short list for baby! I love the name, I love the mythology behind it (that girl was badass!). I personally have no problems pronouncing it, and neither do most people I know. But seeing as I’m educated in the classics and art history, and most of my friends studied or works with arts/history, I might not be an average person to ask. But it’s a heavenly name, I’m crazy in love with it.
I sadly do think it will be misread quite often, at least in the states. I love the name when said correctly and the story behind the name. However, I would hate it if my daughter were constantly called [name]Atlanta[/name] and would personally not take the risk.
Short answer: yes, she’d probably spend a lot of time correcting people. I suppose it depends on where you live, but I would venture to guess that a lot of people would read it as [name]Atlanta[/name].
I read it correctly. Several years ago, my daughter did take a gymnastic class with a girl by that name so perhaps that helped.
I read [name]Atlanta[/name] possibly because I know someone with that name - if you like [name]Atalanta[/name] could [name]Atlanta[/name] be a good substitute?
I know it’s a name, but I’m also pretty sure that atalanta would be mistaken for [name]Atlanta[/name] all the time. I pretty much could guarantee that, sorry.
Also, to my ears, they don’t sound different enough for the confusion to just occur when reading the name, but also hearing it.
I’d leave it as a middle name if you really wanted it. [name]Catalina[/name] has a close sound/effect and is also really pretty in my opinion.
I agree with PPs. I saw “[name]Atlanta[/name]” but something was off about it, so I had to reread it.
