Sheldon

What about [name_u]Sheldon[/name_u]? Does it work? I absolutely love it but I’ve been afraid it’s too dorky, and too associated with the Big Bang [name_m]Theory[/name_m]. But… I love the show, so it doesn’t really matter to me.

I’m thinking [name_u]Sheldon[/name_u] [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u], [name_u]Sheldon[/name_u] [name_u]Gray[/name_u] or [name_u]Sheldon[/name_u] Laser.

It’s not awful, although I think it would work better in the middle spot.

[name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_u]Sheldon[/name_u]
[name_u]Hunter[/name_u] [name_u]Sheldon[/name_u]
[name_u]Chase[/name_u] [name_u]Sheldon[/name_u]
[name_m]Wiley[/name_m] [name_u]Sheldon[/name_u]
[name_u]Noah[/name_u] [name_u]Sheldon[/name_u]
[name_m]Isaiah[/name_m] [name_u]Sheldon[/name_u]
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_u]Sheldon[/name_u]
[name_u]August[/name_u] [name_u]Sheldon[/name_u]

The kid will want to go by his middle name (at least I would!). He is a great tv character, though.

I don’t know a single [name_u]Sheldon[/name_u] in real life, but I like the sound of it…though I do get the vibe that a boy wouldn’t like to have the name. I slightly prefer the similar name [name_u]Sheridan[/name_u]…though again, it doesn’t strike me as a name a boy would love. Of your middle name ideas, I like [name_u]Sheldon[/name_u] [name_u]Grey[/name_u].

[name_u]Shelly[/name_u] [name_m]Cooper[/name_m] <3 I love him on The Big Bang Theory. He makes me proud to be a nerd. Are there going to be new episodes soon? I really like the name Sheldon. It is totally usable! Sheldon Grey is very handsome.

I went to school with a [name_u]Sheldon[/name_u] from elementary through high school and he hated his name. So while I do love the character, I don’t find it to be an attractive name.

I wouldn’t use it, mainly because after watching The Big Bang [name_m]Theory[/name_m], every [name_u]Sheldon[/name_u] I read in a book, I imagine him. It’s really weird, since the setting of the book I’m currently reading is during the Civil War. So I see [name_u]Sheldon[/name_u] [name_m]Cooper[/name_m] in a uniform, lol!

Never met a real life [name_u]Sheldon[/name_u].

What’s so bad about [name_u]Sheldon[/name_u] though? Why would a boy want to go by his middle name?

My thoughts exactly. Not sure if a boy would want to deal with the [name_u]Sheldon[/name_u] [name_m]Cooper[/name_m] association. What if he turns out to be more artistic rather than book smart? If the kid turns out to be super smart, I think it would be a fun association, but if he’s not the brightest in his class, I don’t think it would be fun being constantly compared to [name_u]Sheldon[/name_u] [name_m]Cooper[/name_m].

But in the end, it just depends on how the boy wears the name and if he himself cares about the Big Bang [name_m]Theory[/name_m] association or not.

I like [name_u]Sheldon[/name_u] and think it’s usable. Actually I think the show has taken it from an old man name to a name that is okay on a younger person. Also, while the show is mega popular now and will probably be in syndication for some time, they likely won’t be making new episodes by the time your child is in school. [name_m]Even[/name_m] then, the humour will be way beyond your child’s classmates for quite some time. I don’t see [name_u]Sheldon[/name_u] [name_m]Cooper[/name_m] being a hindrance to using the name, but then I do like the show and think he’s hilarious.

I [name_f]ADORE[/name_f] Big Bang [name_m]Theory[/name_m] (am watching it right now) and love the name [name_u]Sheldon[/name_u] but do have fears it might be a hard name to wear due to associations with the character and the fact that the name itself is a little… outdated. The character goes by the nn “[name_u]Shelly[/name_u]” (or at least his mom and sister call him that), but I can’t imagine that nn making life any easier for a boy.

Also, I seem to think of [name_u]Sheldon[/name_u] as a turtle (probably because of the “shell”)

It’s not a bad name at all. I find it personally charming… but I think having a plan for a good nn or strong middle name as a backup plan in case your son really really doesn’t like it might be a good plan.

I know most people will associate [name_u]Sheldon[/name_u] with The Big Bang [name_m]Theory[/name_m], but one of my first thoughts is of the movie When [name_m]Harry[/name_m] Met [name_f]Sally[/name_f]. [name_f]Sally[/name_f] says she had great sex with a guy named [name_u]Sheldon[/name_u] and [name_m]Harry[/name_m]'s response - “You did not have great sex with [name_u]Sheldon[/name_u]. A [name_u]Sheldon[/name_u] can do your income taxes. If you need a root canal, [name_u]Sheldon[/name_u]'s your man. But humping and pumping is not [name_u]Sheldon[/name_u]'s strong suit. It’s the name. ‘[name_f]Do[/name_f] it to me [name_u]Sheldon[/name_u], you’re an animal [name_u]Sheldon[/name_u], ride me big [name_u]Shel[/name_u]-don.’ Doesn’t work.” Ha.

[name_u]Sheldon[/name_u]…I love Big Bang [name_m]Theory[/name_m]…and I love [name_u]Sheldon[/name_u].
I do not see any issues with the names…
I do automatically associate it with Big Bang [name_m]Theory[/name_m]…or a turtle…
But I think it is usable…
I also think [name_u]Sheldon[/name_u] [name_u]Gray[/name_u]…is the best combo…
(Names I thought of when I saw [name_u]Sheldon[/name_u], [name_m]Tucker[/name_m], [name_m]Milton[/name_m], and [name_u]Blake[/name_u])

I know a [name_u]Sheldon[/name_u] he would be about 20 know. I don’t watch big bang theory but I think its totally useful and sounds great with [name_u]Parker[/name_u].
