Would love to hear people’s thoughts on this name!
I really love the sound… [name_m]Just[/name_m] not so sure about the background, as we are not overly religious… [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think that would matter?
Any other suggestions for name with a similar feel are welcome!
I think [name_m]Shem[/name_m] is very interesting as well! I can’t recall ever hearing it outside of reference to [name_u]Noah[/name_u]'s son. I’m not sure if I like it, but I think it’s interesting. It doesn’t scream “Religious” to me if even though I know where it is from.
Thanks for your reply… This name keeps growing on me. I didn’t know it was the name of [name_u]Noah[/name_u]'s son until after I googled it for the first time.
Any other comments on this boy’s name?
I think the sounds are lovely, this is truly an unique name, I personally have never heard this before but no, not overly religious sounding
Heaps of Old Testament religious sounding names are very popular these days within secular society. [name_m]Elijah[/name_m], [name_m]Malachi[/name_m], [name_m]Levi[/name_m] [name_m]Josiah[/name_m], [name_u]Micah[/name_u], [name_m]Ezekiel[/name_m] are all names I hear at the playground.
[name_m]Shem[/name_m] reminds me of other boy nicknames like [name_u]Jem[/name_u]. I think this could be a very cool name.
Thanks for all the thoughts shared on this name… We are expecting baby3 in [name_f]September[/name_f] and it is on our list, if we it’s a boy
I’ve never considered [name_m]Shem[/name_m] before…I’m know the Bible story, but I never assume people with Bible names are religious people- I consider any Bible name as any other genuine historical name.
[name_m]Shem[/name_m] has a nice sound, similar to [name_m]Shep[/name_m], I guess, as in a nn for [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m]. It does feel a bit short to me, but I tend to stay away from one syllable names personally.
Overall, it’s a great idea and I think you should go for it if you love. A little [name_m]Shem[/name_m] would rarely meet others with his name!
I quite like [name_m]Shem[/name_m]. It is uncommon, but straightforward and easy to pronounce/spell.
I like it! I don’t think most people would assume you were religious from the name, no.
To me it’s a tad weird, as [name_m]Shem[/name_m] is the word for ‘name’ in Hebrew. It’s like literally naming your child ‘name’. BUT, well, unless you are around Hebrew speaking people, that shouldn’t be a problem at all. Could be a spunky name in English
Well, look at me being a bummer!
No that’s fine aren, I appreciate all feedback.
Surprisingly DH is also quite keen on this name and it is now on our shortlist… [name_m]Just[/name_m] feeling it out for a while, to see how it fits.
