We are expecting twins in [name_f]May[/name_f] and my husband has named one and I get to name the other. He has decided on the name [name_f]Lottie[/name_f].
I really want a [name_m]French[/name_m] name if possible because I’m [name_m]French[/name_m] Canadian and would love to honour that but we also want fairly short names because my husband and I both grew up with extremely long names so we want our daughters to have short and sweet names. Some I deas that I have (not all of them are [name_m]French[/name_m]) :
[name_f]Belle[/name_f]
[name_f]Nella[/name_f]/[name_f]Nell[/name_f]/[name_f]Nellie[/name_f] (my great-grandma, who is very excited to meet her great-great-granddaughters is called Hélène and my mother is called [name_f]Helena[/name_f] so I like the link)
[name_f]Esme[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelie[/name_f]
What do you think? Any names that you think would be perfect with [name_f]Lottie[/name_f]?
I think all of the names you listed would work really well with [name_f]Lottie[/name_f]. I think I mentioned [name_f]Nell[/name_f] on a previous thread of yours, and I love it even more for you now because of the family link. I also like that it’s another nickname but doesn’t share the same ending as [name_f]Lottie[/name_f]. [name_f]Belle[/name_f] is gorgeous too and I really like the chic side it brings out in [name_f]Lottie[/name_f]. [name_f]Esme[/name_f] is very sweet with [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] and it has the right balance of familiar/vintage and [name_m]French[/name_m]. [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] is lovely but perhaps feels too much like a long, full name to match [name_f]Lottie[/name_f].
Other suggestions:
[name_f]Lottie[/name_f] and [name_f]Adele[/name_f]
[name_f]Lottie[/name_f] and [name_f]Claudie[/name_f]
[name_f]Lottie[/name_f] and [name_f]Fleur[/name_f]
[name_f]Lottie[/name_f] and [name_f]Malou[/name_f]
[name_f]Lottie[/name_f] and [name_f]Manon[/name_f]
[name_f]Lottie[/name_f] and [name_f]Margot[/name_f]
[name_f]Lottie[/name_f] and [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]
I like all your names but I wouldn’t choose [name_f]Belle[/name_f]. It means beautiful and it could be a little weird in a set of twins. Like, one is pretty and not the other? See what I mean?
I like [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] and [name_f]Nella[/name_f] together, I like how they go together well in style and length, but they don’t match or rhyme and are distinct from each other
i think my favorite of your choices is [name_f]Esme[/name_f]. [name_f]Belle[/name_f] seems a bit overdone with it being a common nickname for [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]. [name_f]Nell[/name_f] strikes me as unfinished and [name_f]Nellie[/name_f] seems a bit singsongy with [name_f]Lottie[/name_f]. I think I would honor the grandmothers by using [name_f]Helene[/name_f] as a middle name.
The short [name_m]French[/name_m] names I like best with [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] are:
[name_f]Margot[/name_f] (love that the 2 syllable parallel with [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] and that it sounds completely different)
[name_f]Marie[/name_f] (love the sound of [name_f]Marie[/name_f] [name_f]Helene[/name_f])
[name_f]Ynez[/name_f] (this is I fnantastiic name with both the y and z adding to his uniqueness)
I think I love the entirety of your list! haha. [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] is on my own list, and [name_f]Belle[/name_f] is quite similar to my beloved [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]. I’m generally not a [name_f]Nellie[/name_f] fan, but I think [name_f]Nell[/name_f] is really sweet, and [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] and [name_f]Nell[/name_f] are adorable together! I like the tie to your mom and great-grandma, too. And I love [name_f]Esme[/name_f], as well, although I prefer it spelled Esmée.
What about:
[name_f]Lottie[/name_f] and [name_f]Fleur[/name_f]
[name_f]Lottie[/name_f] and [name_f]Lilou[/name_f] (meh, a bit cutesy, but I still sort of like it. I would prefer [name_f]Lilian[/name_f]/[name_f]Liliane[/name_f], but that’s not so short. And [name_f]Lily[/name_f] and [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] are sort of too matchy for twins for me)
[name_f]Lottie[/name_f] and [name_f]Camille[/name_f] (love!)
[name_f]Lottie[/name_f] and [name_f]Adele[/name_f]
[name_f]Lottie[/name_f] and [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] (I love the [name_m]French[/name_m] pronunciation!)
[name_f]Lottie[/name_f] and [name_f]Leina[/name_f] (I found [name_f]Leina[/name_f] on the [name_m]French[/name_m] equivalent of our SSA list–I forget what it’s called–and I thought it was gorgeous! I assume it’s sort of like [name_m]LAY[/name_m]-nah, but I’m not sure? I’m attempting to learn [name_m]French[/name_m], but I’m definitely not fluent enough to say definitively. There’s also [name_f]Lena[/name_f] or Léna… I think [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] and [name_f]Elena[/name_f] is gorgeous, too, but [name_f]Elena[/name_f]'s not really [name_m]French[/name_m], haha)
[name_f]Lottie[/name_f] and Félicité
[name_f]Lottie[/name_f] and [name_m]Zo[/name_m]é
[name_f]Lottie[/name_f] and Chloé
[name_f]Lottie[/name_f] and [name_f]Anne[/name_f] (I think some [name_f]Anne[/name_f] double barrels, like [name_f]Anne[/name_f]-[name_f]Sophie[/name_f] or [name_f]Anne[/name_f]-[name_f]Claire[/name_f], are gorgeous, and I think [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] and [name_f]Annie[/name_f] would be to die for!)
[name_f]Lottie[/name_f] and [name_f]Marine[/name_f] (although this doesn’t really work in an English-speaking country, unfortunately!)
[name_f]Lottie[/name_f] and Léonie
[name_f]Lottie[/name_f] and [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] (sort of long-ish?)
[name_f]Lottie[/name_f] and [name_f]Elodie[/name_f]
[name_f]Lottie[/name_f] and [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]
[name_f]Lottie[/name_f] and Ysée
[name_f]Lottie[/name_f] and [name_f]Prune[/name_f] (also probably not usable in the English-speaking world, haha! I love that it means “plum” in [name_m]French[/name_m], but yeah. I don’t know that any American/Canadian/Aussie/Kiwi/[name_u]Brit[/name_u] could pull it off, haha)
Of your options, I really like [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] and [name_f]Nella[/name_f] the best. So sweet and meaningful. I bet your mom and grandmother would love it!
I don’t really have any other suggestions except for one name I’ve started crushing on lately: [name_f]Zelie[/name_f]. It honors [name_m]French[/name_m] St. [name_f]Therese[/name_f]'s mother who is being canonized as a saint as well. I think it’s lovely and sounds great with [name_f]Lottie[/name_f]! Here is more info on it! Zelie: Baby Name of the Day - Appellation Mountain
I like [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] and [name_f]Belle[/name_f] best - you never really hear just the name [name_f]Belle[/name_f] by itself anymore, and all the [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]/[name_f]Isabel[/name_f]'s I know go by Izyy. I think [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] and [name_f]Belle[/name_f] sound right together too - they compliment each other without being too similar.
I also like the suggestion of [name_f]Adele[/name_f]. [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] and [name_f]Adele[/name_f] sound great together as well.
