Short List - Patience and ______

Thanks so much for the suggestions in my earlier post. I’ve compiled a short(ish) list with your help!

First off, [name]Patience[/name]”s middle name. We really love [name]Patience[/name] [name]Maelle[/name] and [name]Patience[/name] [name]Manon[/name]. I also love [name]Patience[/name] [name]Ophelie[/name] (prounounced oh-[name]FAY[/name]-lee) but I worry it will get pronounced OH-feh-lee. Opinions?

For our boy, we have a short list of names that we both like and agree on (thankfully!). Not sure if we”ve found the perfect name yet, but I”d love to hear what you all think of these names. Siblings are [name]Tuesday[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] and [name]John[/name]-[name]Paul[/name] (JP) [name]Alexander[/name], last name is [name]Bernard[/name].

[name]Edmund[/name] ” DH likes that this fits with [name]John[/name]-[name]Paul[/name] and sounds classic. [name]Do[/name] you think it sounds to harsh with [name]Patience[/name] and [name]Tuesday[/name]? Some days I like it and some days I don”t.

[name]Bartholomew[/name] ” another serious sounding name, but I really like this one. I don”t watch The Simpsons, but I worry people will connect it with [name]Bart[/name] [name]Simpson[/name] if we use the nickname (which is likely).

[name]Basil[/name] ” I”m currently loving this name, and DH is too! Is it too word-name-y with [name]Patience[/name]. I love it pronounced Bah-sil, instead of [name]Bay[/name]-sil, though I see that that could be problematic.

[name]Gilbert[/name] ” Is [name]Gilbert[/name] [name]Bernard[/name] to ”ber” heavy? The name sounds awesome in French, sort of like jshill-bear (hard to describe). In English it”s a bit harder sounding, but I like [name]Gil[/name].

[name]Sylvester[/name] ” I was really liking this name until [name]Patience[/name] and [name]Sly[/name] sounded more like cartoon characters to me. DH still likes it though.

[name]Regis[/name] ” I like how unusual this name is. I know everyone will think [name]Regis[/name] [name]Philbin[/name], but I don”t really mind that connection.

[name]Beau[/name] ” another one I love. [name]Beau[/name] [name]Bernard[/name] is a bit ”b” heavy but I could deal with that with the right middle name, I think.

[name]Lionel[/name] ” I like this a lot with [name]Patience[/name], DH is not sure about it though.

Sorry that was so long! Opinions, thoughts, suggestions, advice- all are welcome!

Thanks!

[name]Edmund[/name] is perfect with your other kid’s names- classic but not too common.

[name]Hi[/name], [name]Claire[/name]!

I love your kids’ names!

[name]Patience[/name] [name]Ophelie[/name] [name]Bernard[/name] is my favorite! Since there’s a difference in the amount of syllables per name (2-3-2 over 2-2-2), I think it flows the best… If you’re worried about it getting pronounced incorrectly, you could add the accent (Oph”lie)…

For [name]Patience[/name]'s twin:

[name]Edmund[/name] ” I love [name]Edmund[/name]! I don’t think it sounds too harsh, but it’s not the best with your surname, [name]Bernard[/name], because they both end in D.

[name]Bartholomew[/name] ” A great name, though, for the time being, it’s likely that people would associate it with [name]Bart[/name] [name]Simpson[/name]. Then again, [name]Bart[/name] [name]Bernard[/name] doesn’t sound so great… You may also like [name]BALTHASAR[/name], [name]BARNABUS[/name], or [name]BARNABY[/name].

[name]Basil[/name] ” Maybe a bit too word name-y… Also, I agree that the pronucniation thing could be problematic.

[name]Gilbert[/name] ” For me, it’s a bit BER heavy…

[name]Sylvester[/name] ” Fits well, but not my favorite from this list…

[name]Regis[/name] ” Ditto…

[name]Beau[/name] ” I think it’s great! If you don’t mind a stretch, you could use this as a nickname for [name]Bartholomew[/name]…

[name]Lionel[/name] ” If your husband doesn’t love it, I wouldn’t use it… What about [name]LEON[/name] or [name]LEOPOLD[/name]?

My favorite is [name]Lionel[/name], but I would be hesitant if your husband isn’t sure about it… If you want a middle name from this list, [name]Lionel[/name] [name]Regis[/name] [name]Bernard[/name] flows best, I think…

Good luck!

easy-
my fave is beau x

I wouldn’t worry about the pronunciation of [name]Ophelie[/name] in the middle, as middles are not generally used on a daily basis. [name]Patience[/name] [name]Ophelie[/name] is beautiful!

I think [name]Sylvester[/name] nn [name]Sly[/name] is great, but with [name]Patience[/name] it rather sounds like she is the ‘good’ twin and he is the ‘bad’.

In my opinion, [name]Edmund[/name] and [name]Bartholomew[/name] are absolutely perfect with [name]Tuesday[/name], [name]John[/name]-[name]Paul[/name] and [name]Patience[/name]. [name]Edmund[/name] [name]Bernard[/name] sounds better to me, despite the double D ending, than [name]Bartholomew[/name] [name]Bernard[/name]. Another nn for Batholomew, though, is Tolly ([name]Olly[/name] with a T in front).

Good luck! [name]Auburn[/name]

I love [name]Patience[/name] [name]Maelle[/name]!
I like [name]Edmund[/name] it would go really well with the other childrens names and I like [name]Beau[/name] [name]Regis[/name] [name]Bernard[/name]?

[name]Edmund[/name] and [name]Patience[/name] [name]Maelle[/name] get my votes…lovely!

[name]Patience[/name] [name]Ophelie[/name] is absolutely gorgeous! Definitely the best middle name.

My favorite boys names from your list are [name]Edmund[/name], love the nickname [name]Eddie[/name]! And [name]Bartholomew[/name]. I actually knew a man named [name]Bartholomew[/name] a few years ago and he went by Lo. I was pretty intrigued by that nickname.

I absolutely [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Patience[/name] [name]Ophelie[/name]. Middle names don’t get used all that much, so I don’t think mispronunciation will be a great burden for your daughter. My second favorite is [name]Patience[/name] [name]Maelle[/name]. So pretty and feminine.

Onto the boys names:

[name]Edmund[/name] ” I love this name and think it really is the perfect balance between whimsical ([name]Tuesday[/name]/[name]Patience[/name]) and serious ([name]John[/name]-[name]Paul[/name]). [name]Edmund[/name] [name]Bernard[/name] sounds very nice.

[name]Bartholomew[/name] ” Another name I adore. [name]Bartholomew[/name] and [name]John[/name]-[name]Paul[/name] are really great together, and with [name]Tuesday[/name] and [name]Patience[/name] it seems to flow. I like the suggestion of Tolly as a nickname or Barth instead of [name]Bart[/name]. [name]Bartholomew[/name] [name]Bernard[/name] is a bit “B” heavy if that bothers you.

[name]Basil[/name] ” I think with other word name siblings [name]Tuesday[/name] [name]Patience[/name] and [name]Basil[/name] is a bit much. Plus, I think the mispronunciation is a turn off.

[name]Gilbert[/name] ” I’m normally a huge fan of this name, but with options like [name]Edmund[/name] and [name]Bartholomew[/name], this name seems a bit weak. Also [name]Gil[/name] is a bit wordy with your other childrens names.

[name]Sylvester[/name] ” I agree that [name]Patience[/name] and [name]Sly[/name] kind of sound like good twin/bad twin. I love [name]Sylvester[/name] though but again compared to other names, it doesn’t win, [name]IMO[/name].

[name]Regis[/name] ” I like this name, maybe more as a middle name though.

[name]Beau[/name] ” I love this name. So sweet, simple and a good balance of whimsy/classic. One of my favorites on your list.

[name]Lionel[/name] ” If your husband isn’t sure about it than it’s probably a no-go. Maybe he would like [name]Leonard[/name], [name]Leon[/name] or [name]Leopold[/name]?

My favorites are [name]Edmund[/name], [name]Bartholomew[/name] and [name]Beau[/name]. Combos I like
[name]Edmund[/name] [name]Basil[/name] [name]Bernard[/name]
[name]Bartholomew[/name] [name]Regis[/name] [name]Bernard[/name]
[name]Beau[/name] [name]Sylvester[/name] [name]Bernard[/name]

hope that helps!
