[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone!
My husband and I are discussing baby boy names and are struggling to come up with ones we like.
Here’s what we’ve got so far:
[name_m]Meyer[/name_m] (mom’s maiden name)
[name_m]Julian[/name_m]/[name_m]Julien[/name_m]
[name_m]Anderson[/name_m]
[name_m]Malone[/name_m]
[name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] (although I hate the nn “[name_m]Nate[/name_m]”)
I loooovveee [name_m]Meyer[/name_m] (pronounced my-er) for the family aspect, but DH isn’t sold. Other than that, neither of us love any of them. They’re just ok.
Thoughts? Ideas? Feedback on “[name_m]Meyer[/name_m]”?
Anything is appreciated
thank you!
I love [name_m]Meyer[/name_m] too! It’s such a great name and pretty rare! Oh please try to convince him! If not, you might like [name_m]Ramsey[/name_m], which is one of my favorites. That one is also not common which to me is a huge plus
I love [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] and [name_m]Julian[/name_m], and I actually really like [name_m]Meyer[/name_m] too! I’m not usually big on surname names, but [name_m]Meyer[/name_m] does have a lovely, clean, strong sound and a great reason behind it. The sound reminds me of names like [name_m]Milo[/name_m] and [name_m]Miles[/name_m]/[name_m]Myles[/name_m] - I’m not sure if you would consider one of those as a more subtle honour name?
I have the same problem with [name_m]Nate[/name_m] as you, but there’s also [name_u]Nat[/name_u] and [name_m]Nash[/name_m], or [name_m]Nathan[/name_m] for something a bit longer? I personally love [name_u]Nat[/name_u]!
Other ideas:
[name_u]Emerson[/name_u]
[name_m]Anton[/name_m]
[name_m]Malachi[/name_m]
[name_m]Thayer[/name_m]
[name_m]Bennett[/name_m]
[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]
[name_m]Dominic[/name_m]
[name_m]Griffin[/name_m]
[name_m]Fabian[/name_m]
[name_u]Murray[/name_u]
[name_m]Christian[/name_m]
[name_m]Archer[/name_m]
[name_m]Tobias[/name_m]
I don’t dislike [name_m]Meyer[/name_m], but I will confess I read it as [name_f]May[/name_f]-er before I read your pronunciation of it. That might be something to consider, if you don’t want to tangle with correction issues.
My favourite from your list is [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m], but I feel like it’s one of those names that “comes” with a nickname, like [name_m]Matt[/name_m] for [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] or [name_u]Abby[/name_u] for [name_f]Abigail[/name_f]. My second choice would probably be [name_m]Julian[/name_m].
Here are some more I thought you might like:
[name_m]Nolan[/name_m]
[name_m]Maddox[/name_m]
[name_m]Anders[/name_m]
[name_u]Lennon[/name_u]
[name_u]Campbell[/name_u]
[name_m]Levi[/name_m]
[name_u]Walker[/name_u]
[name_u]Camden[/name_u]
[name_m]Lawson[/name_m]
[name_u]Drew[/name_u]
[name_u]Raleigh[/name_u]
[name_u]Jude[/name_u]
[name_u]Brady[/name_u]
[name_u]Linden[/name_u]
[name_m]Conan[/name_m]
Good luck!
@felicitysmoak thanks for the encouragement about [name_m]Meyer[/name_m]! DH says he is “coming around to it”
[name_m]Ramsey[/name_m] is a nice name too!!
@katinka [name_m]Milo[/name_m] and [name_m]Miles[/name_m] are great names as well! [name_m]Miles[/name_m] is actually my grandma’s maiden name (before she became a [name_m]Meyer[/name_m]) and I love that name also. I should add it to our list. We chose [name_m]Milo[/name_m] for one of our dogs’ names, and at times I wish we had saved it for baby boy! I love [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] and [name_m]Christian[/name_m] too!
@vestigesofsummer good point on the pronunciation. It’s helpful to see from others’ point of view! Thanks for the suggestions- [name_m]Nolan[/name_m], [name_m]Lawson[/name_m], [name_u]Jude[/name_u], and [name_u]Brady[/name_u] stand out! Great names.
