Short list thoughts?

After the many great suggestions from my previous thread of unique girl names, it gave my hubby and I a lot to think about. We loved so many of the ideas, we talked through them and managed to narrow it down to a short list.

Since there was so much great help last time I thought I should ask for you opinion on our short list:

[name_u]Juniper[/name_u]
[name_f]Liv[/name_f]
[name_f]Juno[/name_f]
[name_u]Fable[/name_u]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]
[name_u]Winslow[/name_u]

As I mentioned last time we already have two boys called [name_m]Boden[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] and [name_m]Fox[/name_m] Arnhem, so we wanted our baby girl name to fit in well with them, so we have focused on more nature/earthy/boho inspired names. As for the middle name we thought we would stick on theme, we haven’t really discussed this too much yet, as we still don’t have a first name picked out, but here are our ideas:

[name_f]Fawn[/name_f]
[name_f]Blossom[/name_f]
[name_u]Vesper[/name_u]
[name_f]Fauna[/name_f]
[name_f]Honey[/name_f]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Elowen[/name_f]

What are your favourites/best combinations from our list? Or any new suggestions?

Thank you for all your help!!!

[name_m]Boden[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_m]Fox[/name_m] Arnhem, and…

[name_u]Fable[/name_u] [name_f]Elowen[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Fauna[/name_f]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Blossom[/name_f]
[name_f]Juno[/name_f] [name_u]Vesper[/name_u]
[name_f]Liv[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_f]Fawn[/name_f]
[name_u]Winslow[/name_u] [name_f]Honey[/name_f]

[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] or [name_f]Juno[/name_f] [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] would be so lovely, I love [name_u]Winslow[/name_u] [name_f]Honey[/name_f] too ~

I love [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] and [name_u]Winslow[/name_u]. I also think [name_u]Winslow[/name_u] [name_f]Honey[/name_f] is an adorable combo.

My top 3 combinations would be:

[name_f]Juno[/name_f] [name_f]Elowen[/name_f]
[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_f]Blossom[/name_f]
[name_f]Liv[/name_f] [name_f]Elowen[/name_f]

Ooooh! From your short list, my favorites are [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and [name_u]Fable[/name_u]. [name_u]Love[/name_u] each with your sons’ names.

[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] - fave!
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
[name_u]Fable[/name_u] [name_f]Elowen[/name_f]

[name_u]Winslow[/name_u] [name_f]Fawn[/name_f] or [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Blossom[/name_f]

I love all your names! From favorite to least favorite:
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u]
[name_u]Winslow[/name_u]
[name_f]Liv[/name_f]
[name_u]Fable[/name_u]
[name_f]Juno[/name_f]
[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]

My favorite combo for each name:
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Elowen[/name_f]
[name_u]Winslow[/name_u] [name_f]Fawn[/name_f]
[name_f]Liv[/name_f] [name_f]Blossom[/name_f]
[name_u]Fable[/name_u] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Juno[/name_f] [name_u]Vesper[/name_u]
[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_f]Honey[/name_f]

[name_m]Boden[/name_m] and [name_m]Fox[/name_m] are such quirky, unexpected choices that I think you need something really offbeat for their sister.

[name_u]Fable[/name_u] and [name_u]Winslow[/name_u] (or even [name_f]Winslet[/name_f]?) fit the bill best to me; the others feel a little more mainstream.

I particularly like [name_u]Fable[/name_u] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] (if you don’t mind mixing things up a bit) and [name_u]Winslow[/name_u] [name_f]Honey[/name_f].

Yeah I totally understand what you mean, this is where we have had the most trouble. It is finding a name we like that fits well with her brothers names, which as you said are quite unusual. We both really like [name_u]Fable[/name_u], not sure if [name_u]Fable[/name_u] and [name_m]Fox[/name_m], the double F doesn’t flow as nicely?

My favourite combos are (favourite to least favourite):
Winslow Honey
Fable Evangeline
Juniper Blossom
Juno Vesper

I agree that Fable and Fox might not flow toghether as nicely, although I do adore Fable from your list and has the same feel as your boys names.

I wouldn’t worry about that, quite honestly. It doesn’t look too “themey” since you also have a B- name, and you’re unlikely to get confused with the post (which is a concern that seems to come up a lot with shared sibling initials, for some reason) since they will be of different genders.

I have to confess, [name_u]Fable[/name_u] is my favourite of the lot for you! It’s got that quirky, boho, slightly ethereal vibe and feels super feminine despite not being frilly. Perfect!

If not, similar options could be [name_f]Maple[/name_f], [name_u]Story[/name_u], [name_f]Sable[/name_f], [name_f]Reverie[/name_f], [name_u]Poet[/name_u], [name_f]Sonnet[/name_f], [name_f]Sparrow[/name_f], [name_f]Lumi[/name_f]…?

[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] or [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] would be gorgeous

Thank you, [name_u]Fable[/name_u] is definitely high on the list. We did consider [name_f]Maple[/name_f], I love the name and the nn of [name_f]Mae[/name_f], but something about it I just wasn’t sure on.

To fit with the rest of your kids, I’d personally lose the middle names Blossom, Fauna, and Honey. James and Arnhem are more on the classic side, where as Blossom, Fauna, and Honey are a bit too literal to fit in. However Fawn I see as perfectly acceptable because I’ve seen it used before, even if it’s not my favorite.

Vesper isn’t too long or short, so it can work with most of the names; Juniper Vesper, Juno Vesper, Iris Vesper, Marlowe Vesper, Winslow Vesper, Fable Vesper (<<<this last one has a lot of unused/unusual consonant sounds, which I think is pretty cool)

Evangeline is long so it sounds good with the shorter names; Liv Evangeline, Juno Evangeline, Fable Evangeline

Elowen flows /very/ nicely with the other W names; Winslow Elowen, Marlowe Elowen (tbh, my two favorite full names out of this post, more unusual consonants)

And since Fawn’s so short, I think it sounds well balanced with the longer names; Winslow Fawn, Marlowe Fawn, Juniper Fawn

Thank you! We are a bit undecided as to what we are going to do with the middle name. With Boden’s middle name James, it is a family name and so was an obvious choice. And with Fox, Arnhem is a city that means a lot to us, so we knew we wanted to use it as either a first or middle name. Originally I wanted a family name for my baby girl but they have all really been used by my nieces. So we thought it would be best to choose a nice floral/nature middle name and possibly pair with a classical family name. But not sure if I want a double name?

For me it has to be [name_m]Boden[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_m]Fox[/name_m] Arnhem and [name_f]Juno[/name_f] [name_f]Elowen[/name_f]! Good luck x

[name_f]Iris[/name_f] is still my favorite name from your fn list, & I like it paired w/[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]. My next two choices would be [name_f]Liv[/name_f] & [name_f]Juno[/name_f] & I’d pair both of those w/[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] as well. I really like [name_u]Vesper[/name_u], but for some reason it doesn’t flow w/the three fns I like, at least to my ear.

I noticed both [name_f]Fawn[/name_f] & [name_f]Fauna[/name_f] on your mn list & thought I’d look for names that mean fawn or deer. Here are a few that also include the meaning of gazelle:

[name_f]Ayala[/name_f]
[name_f]Ayelet[/name_f]
[name_f]Elain[/name_f]
[name_f]Tabitha[/name_f]

Good luck!

That sucks that your siblings took them all :frowning: . I have a suggestion that you don’t necessarily have to take, but if you possibly have a trunk full of old family documents or letters, then you if you dig deep you might be able to find something really cool there. Plus, it’d be a fun lookback on centuries of family work.

You said that you like Fable a whole lot too a few times. The double F doesn’t sound like a problem, and somebody else also suggested Fable Elowen, which sounds like it’d fit nicely in with the rest of the family, so if you don’t want to add in any more names, then that one /sounds/ like the perfect piece; However, I’m also mostly basing this stuff on sound and what /I/ think sounds good because I don’t know what /you/ think sounds good, so what I can most say is go with your gut and what you enjoy most.

Blossom, Honey, and Fauna are still really cool and they certainly seem to fit in with what you like just looking at Fox’s and Boden’s names, but if you want some more floral/nature suggestions as options, some that could fit with the other kids and some that won’t, then I’ll list some here:

Uncommon Flower Names:
Freesia (I feel like this could fit in nicely with some of the other names)
Aven
Lobelia
Cereus
Primrose
Petal

Uncommon Tree Names:
Aspen
Fir
Larch
Cotton
Ebony
Maple (I think you said that one at some point on this thread? Very cute)
Poplar

Animal Names:
Dove
Birdie
Doe (This one might interest you: I’ve seen it on like 1 person, it’s like Fawn, has the same sound as Boden but has a literal name like Fox, could be up your alley)

Thank you everyone for your input and suggestions! I think I am now even more torn than I was before, but I really appreciate all the feedback as I wanted to hear others opinions on our ideas.

Im going to still play around with more ideas until I find the perfect name, so be prepared for more threads!!!
