[name_m]Hi[/name_m] guys! So I just wanted to know what you think of some names I’ve been liking recently, as well as some suggestions in a similar style.
~Stark (I like to focus on the definition meaning clear-cut, distinct rather than the severe meaning.)
~[name_m]Dex[/name_m]
~[name_m]Frey[/name_m] (as you can see, I’m a Game of Thrones fan. I hesitate a bit, because the Freys are horrible characters, but I like the name quite a bit.)
~[name_m]Thom[/name_m] (I saw this recently and realized how much better I like it than [name_m]Tom[/name_m]. I realize it would get misspelled pretty often though. Is it worth it?)
~Stark -While I commend you for your positivity on the meaning of this surname, I think of terms like “start naked” and “stark raving mad”. It fails my test question: would I want this name myself?
~[name_m]Dex[/name_m] - [name_u]Dexter[/name_u] nn [name_m]Dex[/name_m] is fine but [name_m]Dex[/name_m] lacks substance as a standalone first name.
~[name_m]Frey[/name_m] - this would be ok in the middle spot but it’s too similar to the girls name [name_f]Freya[/name_f]
~[name_m]Thom[/name_m] - a soap opera name. [name_m]Thorne[/name_m]'s brother is [name_m]Ridge[/name_m]. It sounds a bit fearsome and unapproachable but maybe that’s what you’re looking for in a name. I like names to be more friendly.
I love [name_m]Dex[/name_m], though I’d probably use it as a nickname. I can see the appeal with [name_m]Frey[/name_m], it has a fresh sound, an alternative to [name_u]Grey[/name_u] maybe. Stark screams GoT–[name_m]Frey[/name_m] less so.
[name_m]Thom[/name_m] is ok but I still find it about as dull as [name_m]Tom[/name_m]. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_m]Thorin[/name_m], or [name_m]Theon[/name_m]?
Oh it wasn’t [name_m]Thorn[/name_m]. It was just [name_m]Tom[/name_m] with an h in the middle, like [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] without the “as”. Thanks for your opinions though.
