Should I give baby girl #2 a family middle name?

We both like [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] for a first name, but are stuck on a middle name. [name_f]My[/name_f] 1st daughter has a family name for her middle name, and I’m worried that when my second daughter arrives she may feel slighted if she doesn’t also have a family middle name. I like [name_u]Ellery[/name_u] as a middle name (no family middle name attached), but [name_f]Carole[/name_f] would be the family middle name I’d consider if we went that route. So I’m torn between [name_f]Pheobe[/name_f] [name_u]Ellery[/name_u] or [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Carole[/name_f].

[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Carole[/name_f] flows a lot better than [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_u]Ellery[/name_u].

I agree about the flow, two “ee” endings are a bit too rhymey. [name_m]Just[/name_m] because your first has a family middle name doesn’t mean your second does though- I would rather have a name my parents loved that wasn’t a family name, than a family name they were meh about. (That’s just me though.) If a family member you want to honour has a name you love (or there’s a variant of it you love), that’s great, but if not, no problem!

[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Carole[/name_f] is absolutely lovely! I adore family names.

[name_u]Ellery[/name_u] reminds me too much of Celery, and I don’t love the double ee endings.

I think I would go with [name_f]Carole[/name_f] due to its family significance. [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Carole[/name_f] flows better as a combo anyway. I like [name_f]Carole[/name_f].

I prefer [name_f]Carole[/name_f] for both its sound and family significance.

I like [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Carol[/name_f] best. Could [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] be an option? You still get [name_f]Carol[/name_f] in the middle name, but it’s a different version of the name.

I prefer [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Carole[/name_f] and think it will work nicely with her sis. You could also honor [name_f]Carole[/name_f] with a variation of this name…

[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Carolyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Karolina[/name_f]

[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Carole[/name_f] flows better but I wouldn’t worry about one sibling having a family name and another not. I have a family middle name as does one of my brothers and my other two siblings do not have family names, I don’t think it really matters.

[name_f]My[/name_f] brother’s mn is after my uncle, and my sister’s mn is after my mom. I am not named after anyone and it never bothered me. [name_f]My[/name_f] mn was one of my parents favorite names. I am of the opinion of choosing names you [name_u]Love[/name_u] over one bc it is a family name.

I agree with other Berries - [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Carole[/name_f] (or perhaps [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]) sounds the best.

Are you opposed to two mns? I think [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_u]Ellery[/name_u] is charming.

[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_u]Ellery[/name_u] doesn’t flow in the slightest so I would avoid that. [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Carole[/name_f] is not much better. Have you ever considered [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]? It sounds better and honours ‘[name_f]Carole[/name_f]’.

I agree with everyone. [name_u]Ellery[/name_u] is not a good choice are all and it does sound like “celery” it just doesn’t sound very attractive to me. [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] is BEAUTIFUL though if you guys would consider it! I think it flows very nicely!

Definitely [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Carole[/name_f]!
