Im seriously considering [name_f]Eleonore[/name_f]. Its just the french version of [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]. However the reason why Im on the fence about it is because I have a bad association with someone called [name_m]Leo[/name_m].
Thats really it honestly. And obviously thats right in the middle of [name_f]Eleonore[/name_f].
So what do you guys think? Is it just a case of overthinking or would I be better off finding a new name?
I think if your not on the right terms with someone called Leo I think Eleonore is kind of out but you don’t have to let go of the name! You could just spell the more common way (Eleanor) because it is still the same kind of sound. It would also make life a little bit easier. An Eleonore would nearly always have to clreect people when they speeled her name and it would make life easier for teachers too. That being said I think the spelling Eleonore is really cute! Good Luck!
If you aren’t comfartable with [name_f]Eleonore[/name_f] yourself, then I think it would be better to let it go. But it really depends on how bad the association is and how much the [name_m]Leo[/name_m] part in [name_f]Eleonore[/name_f] sticks out to you.
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you also like just [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]? That would be a nice alternative.
I like the sound of it! the original spelling has always looked a bit incomplete to me, so I tend to lean more towards the variations of it.
I like [name_f]Eleanore[/name_f] and [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] as well

That are lovely alternative as well!
Thank you, I think its a cute variation too!
If the name honestly makes you that uncomfortable, I think it’s best to let it go. You can always use it as a middle. Maybe find a name similar to it?
I don’t think it’d bother me personally, but if it’s bothering you, then I think it’s time to let it go (at least for now)
Elinor/ Alinor as an alternative?
I think if your uncomfortable then I’d look into an alternate spelling or a name that’s similar like [name_f]Elowen[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleonore[/name_f] is gorgeous and I could separate it from a [name_m]Leo[/name_m]
[name_f]Eleonore[/name_f] doesn’t remind me of [name_m]Leo[/name_m]. I don’t think it matters but if it bugs you why not use [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]?
I like [name_f]Eléonore[/name_f] but the O is definitely the most obvious difference between [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_f]Eleonore[/name_f]. I understand that it’s hard to look at [name_f]Eleonore[/name_f] without seeing [name_m]Leo[/name_m]. I see it too! If I knew someone named this, I just of their name like “oh it’s [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] with the o” you get what I mean? I wouldn’t think of it as “it’s [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] with the O and the E.” As [name_f]Eleanore[/name_f], I’ve always loved my name and I’m glad you find it a cute alternative! Maybe I’m used to [name_f]Eleanore[/name_f], but [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] looks incomplete to me and I love the E at the end! If you use the name [name_f]Eleanore[/name_f], then people will think of it as “Eleanor with the e” since that’s the only change. I adore both [name_f]Eleanore[/name_f] and [name_f]Eleonore[/name_f]!
I think [name_f]Eleonore[/name_f] is lovely and it would never have occurred to me to associate it with [name_m]Leo[/name_m] (they don’t sound anything alike in my pronunciation). I’m sure if you had a daughter named [name_f]Eleonore[/name_f], then you’d associate the name with her and the “Leo” thing would probably not be a big issue.
That said, it depends on your circumstances. If it’s likely that this [name_m]Leo[/name_m] person is going to be involved in your child’s life, I would probably avoid it.
[name_m]Hi[/name_m]! I’ve never known anyone actually called “Eleanore” Im so glad you like your name! XD I think its beautiful! I agree with you on how the original spelling seems incomplete. I dont even know why, but it just feels like its missing something lol
they wouldnt be involved at all! Its really just that little association

I’ve never really been a fan of the original spelling unfortunately. Its always seemed a bit incomplete to me
I wouldn’t let it go unless the association is something you can’t get past. But, [name_m]Leo[/name_m] is a very popular name right now, so there are lots of [name_m]Leos[/name_m] that won’t have the negative association. Your future daughter will likely have one or some in her class/be friends with one. I understand how a name can bring up all sorts of emotions, but I also believe that it’s a specific person, not a name, that is responsible for their own behavior. Plus, I would think its empowering to “reclaim” a negative association and put a super positive association on it (like how some slurs have been reclaimed by the groups that have been offended by them). [name_f]Eleonore[/name_f] is beautiful!
If you love [name_f]Eleonore[/name_f], that I’d suggest you go for it.
However, if the “Leo” association keeps burrowing you, then maybe look into other names.
It really just depends on what will make you happy.
Suggestions:
· [name_f]Eleanora[/name_f]
· [name_f]Lenore[/name_f]
· [name_f]Nora[/name_f]
Good luck!
