Should it matter?

I have a lot of names on my girls list that begin with A, yet on my boys list the letter A isn’t dominant. For example, out of the 10 first names in my signature (the rest are solely MNs), 4 begin with A and these 4 are mostly my top favourites.

Does it matter that there is a possibility that in the future, when I have children, there will be more than one girl whose name begins with A, and that this wouldn’t be the trend? I tried to eliminate the overuse of names that begin with letter A on my girls list, but I love those names so much that I can’t let them go just because their first letter is A…

Should it matter that my girls list has a lot of names beginning with A, and that this wasn’t on purpose? I don’t know if I’m making any sense…

No, it doesn’t really matter. Not in the slightest. Use the names you love.

For me personally, however, it would be a bother. Not because I wasn’t fond of the names but because I’m OCD about names.

Thanks. [name_f]May[/name_f] I ask, what would it be that bothers you? The fact there would be siblings who shared the first letter of their name or something else?

If all the names were A,A,A then it would be fine, or if they all started with different letters (A,G,B,F), then it’s fine too. But where two are the same and ones different (A,A,F), or something like that (A,F,G,A,A), it just doesn’t feel perfect to me. It’s not symmetrical. Does that make sense? I feel like this isn’t cohesive at all.

I had this problem a while ago with [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] and [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]. P,W,E,E irritated me, so I knew I’d have to drop one of them :stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t see any problem with it. Actually, my three sisters and I all have ‘A’ names (as does my mother), whereas my brother has an ‘M’ name. We have never had any problems with it! People tend to dislike it on NB, but I don’t really think it matters much in ‘real life’. I have noticed that I have a tendency to favour ‘A’ names for girls as well, but definitely not for boys.

I don’t think the trends on your list matter at all. It’s just a list at this point. It will matter when the list becomes reality only so far as it matters to you. If it might bother you what others will think, I do feel it’s best to poll people in real life because the opinions reflected on NB don’t really reflect popular opinion in real life.

My two living siblings have names that start with C, and mine starts with A.
IF we were all together, it would be : DCACN. I’m pretty much the odd one out because we’re CAC. Doesn’t bother me, so if two siblings in a family shared an initial and the others didn’t, wouldn’t mind at all.

Thank you guys for the input! Maybe I was overthinking it too much.
