Hello everyone! I am new to Nameberry and absolutely loving the site. I am hoping I could get some help/advice from other name aficionados. I am currently pregnant with our second daughter, who will be a sister to our lovely 4 year old, Eloise Violet. Some background - Eloise has been “my” name since I was a little girl, and she was named in 2008 when Eloise wasn’t even on the top 1000 list! Needless to say, I have been a bit dismayed to see how quickly it has skyrocketed across the charts (and I’m seeing more and more of them born in my neighborhood - I live in urban Los Angeles.) Alas, I still love the name, so what can you do… (and hopefully it won’t go too much higher!)
Our problem is that my husband and I are completely stumped on the new one’s name. We can’t agree on anything, and he claims it’s his “turn” since I named Eloise. He loves Serafina, Amadora, and Maia, and my favorites are: Cybele (he is lukewarm), Gioia (he has COMPLETELY dismissed this one), Ondine, Odette, Bronwen, and my #1 favorite, Cosima (sniff - he says no.) I also love, love the name Charlotte (I dream of a little Lottie!) though it is too popular, I think, so it will most likely be a middle name. (I have also been kicking around some other “lotte” names… Miralotte, Merilotte, though do they sound too made up?) Of his favorites, I could be persuaded towards Serafina, though I think I prefer Seraphine. Any ideas of something that might suit both of us and would also go well with Eloise?
Side note - I’m Italian, and I’d love to have some sort of “Italian feel” in her name, though it’s not necessary. I also love French names. We’re both hoping for something unusual that is not likely to skyrocket like Eloise did. Thanks for any and all suggestions!
