Sibling for Harvey and Jim!

My sons are Harvey Sante and James “Jim” Pierino. If our third baby is another boy, my husband wants Frank Zappa (or Franklin Zappa) after the musician. I’m not a fan. I like Marvin (and he does as well), but he has campaigned for Zappa during every pregnancy. I’m okay with Zappa as a middle name, or even Frank Zappa as a double middle name, but I would prefer another Italian family name, such as Fabretto or Luigi, to better match our other sons. At least Zappa is Italian! :laughing: I’m aware that Harvey and Marvin are a bit tongue-twister-y. That’s the only reason Jim is not named Marvin. However, I’m okay with it with Jim in the middle breaking it up. Anyway, who out there is team Franklin, team Marvin? Other thoughts?

If the baby is a girl, Fernanda Patricia is the only name we both like so far. Frankie, Francesca, and Francine are al names I really do not care for. I love Patricia enough to use it as a first name, but my husband does not (yet). It’s a huge family name for us on both sides. So, it will definitely at least be in the middle. I love the concept of a Patricia Luigia that we call Patty Lu. It makes my husband smile, but also roll his eyes. We are super picky, but all suggestions are greatly appreciated! :heart:

It’s not often I say this, but you really can’t name a baby [name_m]Frank[/name_m] Zappa!

Zappa or [name_m]Frank[/name_m] alone would be a nice tribute to a favourite musician, but your son will be his own person and merits a name that doesn’t instantly conjure up someone else.

I actually think Frank/Franklin feels perfect for [name_m]Harvey[/name_m] and Jim’s brother, and it’s a bit more subtle than Zappa (which could be a cool middle with a different first).

[name_m]Frank[/name_m] Fabretto is amazing :star_struck: and [name_m]Marvin[/name_m] is definitely the right style. While a little close to [name_m]Harvey[/name_m], I don’t think it’s unusable. How about [name_m]Martin[/name_m], [name_u]Marlin[/name_u], [name_m]Calvin[/name_m] or [name_m]Alvin[/name_m]?

[name_u]Love[/name_u] your girl name ideas! Zappa could be a fun middle for a girl too — that A ending sound works well and the Z gives it a bit of spark paired with your traditional first names.

I’m OBSESSED with your names!!! They are so so cool and unique. [name_m]Marvin[/name_m] is super refreshing and “Marv”?! So cute! I also love Frank!!!

[name_f]Fernanda[/name_f] is incredible. Fernie? [name_u]Fern[/name_u]? Ferdie?! But i really am in love with [name_f]Patricia[/name_f] too. [name_f]Patty[/name_f]! :sob: I’m in awe. You cannot go wrong with any of these!

I’m with you on [name_m]Frank[/name_m] Zappa! I’m hoping for a girl to avoid having this debate with my husband for the third time! :laughing: I do love [name_u]Marlin[/name_u] and [name_m]Calvin[/name_m], but my husband does not for whatever reason. I’ll try running them past him again.

Thank you! I love the nickname [name_u]Fern[/name_u]. :heart: I think I could come around to [name_m]Frank[/name_m], but it just sounds “harder” to me, while [name_m]Harvey[/name_m] and [name_m]Jim[/name_m] sound “softer,” which I like more.

I prefer [name_u]Franklin[/name_u] as a sibset, but [name_u]Franklin[/name_u] Zappa is a bit too on the nose for me. [name_m]Marvin[/name_m] Zappa is cool, but perhaps a bit close to [name_m]Harvey[/name_m].

Thank you for the suggestions! [name_f]My[/name_f] husband has an uncle [name_m]Kirk[/name_m] and I have an uncle [name_m]Ralph[/name_m]. We actually really, really like [name_m]Raphael[/name_m], but worry that my parents would feel uncomfortable about it. I like the suggestion of [name_m]Irwin[/name_m], but I do also have an uncle [name_u]Win[/name_u] (Winton). In our family, we usually only use honor names for the deceased. I love [name_u]Ray[/name_u], but people call me that (my name is Rachel). I also like [name_f]Ramona[/name_f]. I’ll ask my husband about that one, but currently we don’t have any repeat initials (BWM, RLM, HSM, JPM, ??M)

Maybe [name_m]Marlon[/name_m] as a sort of blend of the two?

I think i’m team Frank/Franklin because I would personally struggle with the tongue twister effect of saying [name_m]Harvey[/name_m] and [name_m]Marvin[/name_m] together on a regular basis. [name_m]Alvin[/name_m] seems like a great alternative.
