[name_f]Kinda[/name_f] thinking ahead here, but we’re planning to try for a second baby later in the year and I’d like some name ideas.
Daughter’s name is [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] (family name) and our surname starts with a T. We mostly call her [name_f]Immy[/name_f].
When pregnant with her the main contenders were for a girl were [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] or [name_f]Astrid[/name_f], and our boy name was [name_m]Joshua[/name_m], but I’m not so sure on them now… What would go well with [name_f]Imogen[/name_f]?
Note that I’m a bit OCD with names so would really prefer a name that’s also 3 syllables (and ideally also 6 letters but I know I can’t have it all ).
Not too fussed about middle names this time, if it’s a boy possibly [name_m]George[/name_m] because it’s a family name, but for girls I have no idea ”*”
I adore [name_f]Imogen[/name_f]! You did a great job there. [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] or [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] would work for her sister, although the the nn equivalent to [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] nn [name_f]Immy[/name_f] is Assy…so, [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] is not a personal favorite.
[name_m]Joshua[/name_m] is fine. It’s not nearly as interesting as [name_f]Imogen[/name_f], but go for it if you still like it.
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] for you, and [name_m]Joshua[/name_m] is lovely although I’m not sure about [name_m]Joshua[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m].
[name_m]Joshua[/name_m] is lovely for a boy as well, though I don’t think it goes very well with the middle name [name_m]George[/name_m]–the hard j/g sounds kind of clash. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps!
OCD-wise, I always thought [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] and [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] were perfect, because the same number of letters and syllables, consonants vs vowels in the same spots, matching letters are in the same spots in both names. Nothing repeated in one name that is not repeated in the other. However, I think they’re too similar to actually use on real sisters, and a bit of a popularity mismatch anyway.
You could spell [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] like [name_f]Anabel[/name_f] for 6 letters. [name_f]Alison[/name_f] also fits the letter & syllable count (and the consonant vs letter order hehe).
Other 6 letters, 3 syllables: (apologies for any repeats, * for the ones I think go well with [name_f]Imogen[/name_f])
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u]
*[name_f]Lilian[/name_f]
[name_f]Vienna[/name_f]
[name_u]Sierra[/name_u]
[name_f]Sienna[/name_f]
[name_f]Adelyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Sophia[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]
[name_f]Teresa[/name_f]
*[name_u]Eloise[/name_u]
[name_f]Avalon[/name_f]
[name_f]Alicia[/name_f] (uh-[name_u]LEE[/name_u]-shuh)
[name_f]Elinor[/name_f]
[name_f]Cassia[/name_f] ([name_u]CASS[/name_u]-see-uh)
Having specific rules like six letters and three syllables really helps narrow things down. Here are a few that haven’t been mentioned yet. (Also, [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] is one of my favorites, so kudos on that one!)
My immediate thought was that [name_f]Tamara[/name_f] would be a good fit with [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] (and has the same number of letters/syllables) but not sure if you would mind the alliteration with your surname.
