We’re expecting our 3rd child and aren’t sure if it’s a boy or girl yet. We have a daughter named [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] [name_f]Elsie[/name_f], and son named [name_u]Miles[/name_u] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m].
We’re considering [name_f]Melissa[/name_f] for a girl but open to suggestions. I like three syllable girl names that have the soft S or L sound in it. Middle name has to be [name_f]Michelle[/name_f].
The boys names are really hard for my husband and I to agree on. So far only [name_u]Darrell[/name_u], [name_m]Derrick[/name_m] or [name_u]Darren[/name_u] has made the list. We can use [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] or [name_m]Henry[/name_m] as a middle name.
Any suggestions for names that work with [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] and [name_u]Miles[/name_u]?
Emmett henry
[name_u]Beckett[/name_u] [name_m]Henry[/name_m]
[name_u]Anderson[/name_u] [name_m]Zachary[/name_m]
[name_u]Jasper[/name_u] henry
[name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] zachary
3+ syllables with s or l:
[name_f]Natalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f]
[name_f]Delia[/name_f]
[name_f]Elena[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_f]Elissa[/name_f]
[name_f]Selina[/name_f]
[name_u]Sierra[/name_u]
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]
Boys based on your list:
[name_u]Declan[/name_u]
[name_m]Dominic[/name_m]
[name_u]Everett[/name_u]
[name_m]Felix[/name_m]
[name_u]Owen[/name_u]
[name_m]Graham[/name_m]
[name_u]Tristan[/name_u]
Nothing wrong with [name_f]Melissa[/name_f], but its a little much with [name_f]Michelle[/name_f] as a middle name. [name_u]Darren[/name_u] [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] is handsome with [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] and [name_u]Miles[/name_u].
The girl names all have an L and and S sound. The boy names all have an L.
It would be nice to have the repetition of the letter L and/or L and S within the sibling names.
Jocelyn [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] Miles Joseph
____ Michelle
First letter of previous kid’s first name is first letter of next kid’s middle name, if it isn’t obvious. I think the MN [name_f]Michelle[/name_f] would really set that in.
Elias, Salvator, Kelsey all fit the pattern of L and S. Elias (or another name starting with E and containing an L and S) would best complete the pattern that @skylerros flagged above.
Jocelyn E.
Miles J.
E… M.
Each letter used twice, once in the FN slot and once in the MN slot
Other boy names that have either L or S but not both:
Sebastian
Seth
Elijah
Elliot
Eldon
Elton
Easton
It doesn’t fit your pattern at all, but I just really like Owen with Jocelyn and Miles.
Thanks everyone for all the suggestions! So many beautiful names! I’m still unsure about boys names, I love [name_u]Owen[/name_u] and [name_u]Emmett[/name_u]. If I didn’t want to use the nn. [name_f]Em[/name_f], what would be some other options?
I’ve discovered the girls name [name_f]Marcella[/name_f] here on the nameberry forum. It’s similar to [name_f]Melissa[/name_f] but much less common, which I like. We nicknamed our daughter Jossy and I don’t think [name_f]Marcie[/name_f] would sound too similar would it? Could [name_f]Marcella[/name_f] [name_f]Michelle[/name_f] still work? What do you think?
3 Syllable girl names with S, L or both:

[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Michelle[/name_f] (too close to [name_f]Elsie[/name_f]? but goes sooo well with [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] & [name_u]Miles[/name_u])
[name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] [name_f]Michelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Michelle[/name_f]

[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_f]Michelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Faye[/name_f] [name_f]Michelle[/name_f]

[name_u]Declan[/name_u] [name_m]Henry[/name_m]/Zachary

[name_f]Cassia[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]
The first name that came to mind for me was [name_f]Marcella[/name_f] but I didn’t list it as I thought it might be a bit much with [name_f]Michelle[/name_f]. Could just go for [name_f]Marcie[/name_f] on its own?
Marcella - another option is [name_f]Marceline[/name_f]. [name_u]Or[/name_u] [name_f]Marcie[/name_f] / [name_f]Marcy[/name_f] by itself, which I kind of adore. Either alternative keeps with the more northern European vibe that the first two kiddos have.
