Woohoo we’re expecting baby #3! My kiddos are [name_m]Konrad[/name_m] [name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m] and [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] (middles are family names). We have pretty good girl options but are struggling with boy names.
My husband loved [name_m]German[/name_m], “badass-sounding” names (his name is [name_m]Klaus[/name_m]). Any ideas on a badass brother name for [name_m]Konrad[/name_m] and [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]? Bonus points if it is [name_m]German[/name_m], starts with a K and/or has a K in the name!
To give you an idea, our top contenders right now are [name_m]Oskar[/name_m] (but I don’t like how popular it is at #206), [name_m]Otto[/name_m], or [name_m]Hugo[/name_m].
I’ve always loved your naming style, and [name_m]Oskar[/name_m], [name_m]Otto[/name_m] and [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] are all lovely options. I have to admit I’m not the most original with naming suggestions but I do like the following with [name_m]Konrad[/name_m] and [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]:
Not [name_m]German[/name_m] but I instantly thought of [name_m]Cormac[/name_m] with [name_m]Konrad[/name_m].
Could spell Kormac, [name_m]Cormack[/name_m], …
Before I got to your final paragraph I thought of both [name_m]Otto[/name_m] and [name_m]Oskar[/name_m]! I love both of these names as well as [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]; great options!
[name_m]Otto[/name_m] is so cute and unexpected, I really have a soft spot for him! And [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] is very much a sweet choice too, although perhaps a bit more common. [name_m]How[/name_m] about:
[name_m]Jonas[/name_m]
[name_m]Leopold[/name_m]
[name_m]Emil[/name_m]
[name_m]Bertram[/name_m]
[name_m]Markus[/name_m]
[name_u]Emmett[/name_u]
[name_m]Luther[/name_m]
[name_m]Emmerich[/name_m]
[name_m]Rupert[/name_m]
[name_m]Isidor[/name_m]
[name_m]Johann[/name_m]
[name_m]Leonard[/name_m]
[name_m]Rollo[/name_m]
[name_m]Wilbur[/name_m]
[name_m]Henrik[/name_m] (not strictly [name_m]German[/name_m] but a Germanic variation?)
[name_m]Timo[/name_m] (I once met a little [name_m]Timo[/name_m] and it works really well!)
[name_u]August[/name_u]
Ha, my husband likes ‘badass’ names too. I love [name_m]Oskar[/name_m]. [name_m]Otto[/name_m] is kind of cool, but I don’t know…[name_m]Hugo[/name_m] is darling, but not at all badass. Sounds kind of sweet and nerdy to me!
Other suggestions:
[name_m]Axel[/name_m]
[name_m]Bastian[/name_m] nn Bash
[name_m]Crispin[/name_m]
[name_m]Fredric/name_m nn [name_u]Freddie[/name_u]
[name_m]Henrik[/name_m] nn [name_m]Hank[/name_m]?
[name_m]Ivan[/name_m]
[name_m]Maximus[/name_m]
[name_m]Maksim[/name_m]
[name_m]Maximilian[/name_m]
[name_m]Magnus[/name_m]
[name_u]Rex[/name_u]
Thax…maybe as a nn for [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m] or [name_m]Thackeray[/name_m] or [name_m]Thatcher[/name_m]
I really like [name_m]Oskar[/name_m] for you! And I’d like to echo the previous suggestion of [name_m]Victor[/name_m]/[name_m]Viktor[/name_m]; I have a [name_m]Conrad[/name_m] [name_m]Victor[/name_m] ([name_m]Victor[/name_m] is an honor name) and I regret a bit not saving [name_m]Victor[/name_m] to use as a first name on another son.
My speciality! With [name_m]German[/name_m] names, you have to be careful careful not to slip into old man territory. Basically, all stereotypically [name_m]German[/name_m] names like [name_m]Dieter[/name_m], Günther or [name_m]Heinrich[/name_m] are terribly outdated and almost no [name_m]German[/name_m] parents today would ever dream of giving their child such a name.
I think [name_m]Karl[/name_m], [name_m]Kurt[/name_m] or [name_m]Kaspar[/name_m] would fit the bill, [name_u]Konstantin[/name_u] would be perfect!
[name_u]Karsten[/name_u] or [name_m]Carsten[/name_m] is common in Germany. [name_m]Anton[/name_m] also sounds very tough.
If you settle on a name beginning with K, maybe one that contains K? [name_u]Dominik[/name_u], Niklas, [name_m]Jakob[/name_m] and [name_m]Lukas[/name_m] all have that harsh K sound you seem to love.
And if you have another girl someday, [name_f]Kiara[/name_f]!
Also, I saw [name_m]Kiefer[/name_m] was suggested in a reply- [name_m]Kiefer[/name_m] isn’t a [name_m]German[/name_m] name. It’s a word for jaw and a type of tree, but I can guarantee you that not a single person in Germany is actually named [name_m]Kiefer[/name_m].
