Sibling for Konrad

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone! I’m new to this forum. We recently welcomed our son, [name_m]Konrad[/name_m] [name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m], into our family. His name is spelled the [name_m]German[/name_m] way, with a K, to honor my husband’s heritage and his middle name, [name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m], is a family name. Of course now that he’s here, my mind is wandering off and thinking about potential sibling names. Below is a list I’ve been keeping in my head. What do you think of the names and how do they sound as a sib set with [name_m]Konrad[/name_m]? Any other suggestions? I look forward to hearing from you all!

Girls:
[name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] (found in my family tree and I weirdly like it. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband loves the idea of [name_f]Minnie[/name_f] as a nickname and I like [name_f]Mina[/name_f]. Is it too off the wall though to use though? Too hard to spell?)
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Ada[/name_f])
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Rosie[/name_f])
[name_f]Augusta[/name_f]
[name_f]Louisa[/name_f]

Middles (all family names):
[name_f]Marie[/name_f]
[name_f]Patricia[/name_f]
[name_f]Jane[/name_f]

Boys:
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m] - our favorite right now, but something about it just seems off with [name_m]Konrad[/name_m]. Am I crazy?
[name_u]Kai[/name_u] ([name_f]My[/name_f] husband’s favorite. The repeated K initial doesn’t bother me, as K names are used often on my husband’s side, but my issue is that the name sounds incomplete)
[name_m]Killian[/name_m] (too Irish next to our german first-born?)
[name_m]Reginald[/name_m] ([name_u]Rex[/name_u]) (family name)
[name_m]Rufus[/name_m]

Middles (all family names):
[name_m]Joseph[/name_m]
[name_m]John[/name_m]
[name_m]Frederick[/name_m]

I’d also love any suggestions you may have!!

For some reason I could see [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] and [name_m]Alaric[/name_m] working as a sibling to [name_m]Konrad[/name_m]. [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] would go well with [name_m]Konrad[/name_m] too.

From the names you like I think all of the girl names would be great as a potential sibling, but especially [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] and [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f]. From your boys I think [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] goes best with [name_m]Konrad[/name_m]. [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] is a bit of quirky name and there is potential spelling problems, but I think people will get the hang of it.

[name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m]

I like the idea of using something very Germanic with [name_m]Konrad[/name_m] but really anything classic and bilingual fits here.

All of your girls names work. I particularly like [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] and [name_f]Augusta[/name_f], because, like [name_m]Konrad[/name_m], they make me think of [name_m]German[/name_m] royalty. [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] are English forms of [name_m]German[/name_m] names so they also share that traditional/aristocratic vibe. [name_m]Even[/name_m] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], being vintage and romantic, seems to go well with [name_m]Konrad[/name_m].

As for your boys names: I don’t think they fit as “logically”, but they could work. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite, surprisingly, is [name_m]Konrad[/name_m] and [name_m]Killian[/name_m] (or even better: [name_m]Kilian[/name_m], the spelling used in Germany) —*I really like when siblings have (distinctive!) same-initial names, even though this could limit your choices if you have further children. I also like [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] and [name_u]Kai[/name_u] but I worry it feels too “light” in comparison to [name_m]Konrad[/name_m]. I do think [name_u]Kai[/name_u] would make a great nickname for something longer —*Nikolaus (the traditional long form IIRC), Kayetan, [name_m]Karl[/name_m], [name_m]Kasimir[/name_m], [name_u]Kristian[/name_u], [name_m]Kaius[/name_m]/[name_m]Caius[/name_m]?

Some suggestions (based mainly on your names)
[name_m]Konrad[/name_m] & [name_f]Adela[/name_f]
[name_m]Konrad[/name_m] & [name_f]Amalia[/name_f]
[name_m]Konrad[/name_m] & [name_f]Amalie[/name_f]

[name_m]Konrad[/name_m] & [name_m]Kasimir[/name_m]
[name_m]Konrad[/name_m] & [name_u]Korbin[/name_u] / Korbinian

Congratulations on the birth of your son.

One of my favorite [name_m]German[/name_m] boys names that begins with K is [name_m]Kurt[/name_m]. [name_m]Konrad[/name_m] and [name_m]Kurt[/name_m]. [name_m]Kurt[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] sounds great. Another great K names is [name_m]Klaus[/name_m]. [name_m]Konrad[/name_m] and [name_m]Klaus[/name_m]. klaus [name_m]Frederick[/name_m].

Another idea for a brother’s name would be to use k at the end. [name_m]Erik[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] works well. [name_m]Konrad[/name_m] and [name_m]Erik[/name_m]. Or perhaps using the k sound at the end spelled with with a ch - [name_m]Ulrich[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m]. [name_m]Konrad[/name_m] and [name_m]Ulrich[/name_m].

As for a sister, my favorite on your list is [name_f]Augusta[/name_f]. [name_m]Konrad[/name_m] and [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] … [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is beautiful. [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] is another great choice and I would probably go with [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f].

If you wanted to use a k name for a sister, Karolin is rather nice. I like Karolin [name_f]Patricia[/name_f]. [name_m]Konrad[/name_m] and Karolin. Another rather traditional [name_m]German[/name_m] girls name that. I like is [name_f]Gretchen[/name_f].
[name_m]Konrad[/name_m] and [name_f]Gretchen[/name_f]. [name_f]Gretchen[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] would be my oick in that case.

I think that [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] is a little much for me, but it goes really nicely with [name_m]Konrad[/name_m]. I also really like [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] and [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] with your son’s name. I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the name [name_f]Augusta[/name_f]! I think it is really an underused classic. [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] don’t have the same “feel” to me, but they are gorgeous names also. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite: [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] or [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]

I adore the sibset of [name_m]Konrad[/name_m] and [name_m]Rufus[/name_m]! They’re both very masculine, slightly rugged, but still refined. I personally don’t find [name_m]Killian[/name_m] “too Irish” next to [name_m]Konrad[/name_m], because [name_m]Conrad[/name_m] is a name used in Irish culture also. [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] does seem a little too romantic next to [name_m]Konrad[/name_m]‘s germanic roots. And [name_u]Kai[/name_u] definitely feels incomplete to me. I do think it’s a great nickname though ([name_u]Kyle[/name_u] is my first thought, but most boys’ K names would work, like [name_m]Killian[/name_m]). [name_m]Reginald[/name_m] seems a bit too stuffy compared to [name_m]Konrad[/name_m], but I do think it’s a great name. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite: [name_m]Rufus[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m].

Some others that I would suggest:
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_f]Elsbeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Theodora[/name_f]
[name_f]Bernadette[/name_f]
[name_f]Vera[/name_f]
[name_f]Elsa[/name_f]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f]
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f]

[name_m]Grayson[/name_m]
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m]
[name_m]Mattias[/name_m]
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m]
[name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m]
[name_m]Declan[/name_m]

[name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_m]Konrad[/name_m]. Great choice. I always thought having two sons named [name_m]Konrad[/name_m] and [name_m]Klaus[/name_m] would be perfect. But from your list:

For a girl I would choose [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f].
For a boy I would choose [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m].

I vote [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m]!

That’s hilarious because my husband’s name is [name_m]Klaus[/name_m]!!

Thank you everyone!! I think [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] is getting the most votes and is probably our favorite as well. Girls names seem much harder for us! But we’re not even pg yet, so we’ve got some time. Many of you suggested names that are already in our family so hooray to you! [name_m]Klaus[/name_m] (rhymes with House) is my husband’s name and [name_m]Karl[/name_m] is his brother’s name. LOTS of [name_m]German[/name_m] influence as you can see

I really like [name_m]Alaric[/name_m]!

[name_m]Konrad[/name_m] & [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] is a very handsome sibset!

I love [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f]! I think it’s beautiful, and I love the nicknames [name_f]Mina[/name_f] or [name_f]Minnie[/name_f]. All of your girl names are lovely–[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is my next favorite–but as I said, I love [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f]! [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] would be darling.

For the boys, I love [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] with [name_m]Konrad[/name_m]! I think they go fabulously together. [name_f]My[/name_f] next favorite on your list is [name_m]Reginald[/name_m]–I think [name_u]Rex[/name_u] and [name_m]Konrad[/name_m] sound fab together! [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] or [name_m]Reginald[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m] would be my picks
