I have a boy named [name_m]Julian[/name_m] and it can sound like [name_u]Julianne[/name_u] if not said carefully, so same situation. [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] is a fairly common boy name though so I think you really just have to decide it it will bother you or not!
I think [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] is a perfectly lovely name and I think most people differentiate the spelling of the name based on the sex of the child-- but if it really bugs you, you can always pick something else.
[name_m]How[/name_m] about making it [name_m]Hadrian[/name_m]?
Or [name_m]Augustus[/name_m], as in [name_m]Caesar[/name_m] [name_m]Augustus[/name_m]?
I’m not fond of unisex names and only his teacher will be aware of the spelling.
If it sounds like a girl, then it will be confusing to some.
I see [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] primarily as a boy’s name. I have never come across any [name_f]Adrienne[/name_f]'s. If it worries you so much I think the suggestion of [name_m]Hadrian[/name_m] is a very good alternative.
When I hear the name [name_m]Adrian[/name_m], I picture a girl ([name_f]Adrienne[/name_f]). That may only be because the only one I know is a girl. Unisex names don’t bother me though- same issue with [name_u]Jamie[/name_u] and that’s plenty common! If you like [name_m]Adrian[/name_m], I say go for it!
