Sibling for Lily

First off, hypothetical reasons for posting! DP and I in the talks of a sibling for our 19 month old daughter and I’d like some general ideas before we go down that path again - it was a long and stressful process agreeing on the first name!

And while her name does look like we closed our eyes and jabbed at 2 out of top 20 names, [name]Lily[/name] [name]Isabella[/name], a lot of thought (and arguing) did go into it! I’m Australian and a great lover of names, a little excited that I’ve found this place and now know I’m not the only one who scribbles names down everywhere. DP is South American and has very different ideas.

My favourite names that I wanted before we agreed were:
[name]Zahli[/name]
[name]Sienna[/name]
[name]Ava[/name]
[name]Mia[/name]

He liked:
[name]Brenda[/name] &
[name]Winnie[/name]

Now while I believe those names did once have their moment to shine, in our area they’re more commonly found on 60-80 yr olds (and I’ve had negative associations with both) but to him, they’re what he’d consider the height of cool in his country.

So we’ve had to compromise somewhere in the middle, an English first name that can carry itself respectively in both cultures, and a Latin based/sounding/historical middle name - [name]Isabella[/name] was the name of the first and only princess in his country and also has family history for both of us. I’d like to try and stick to that too. So giving up on any future [name]Colton[/name]'s or [name]Levi[/name]'s, I’m looking for some new suggestions. Either way though, a new girl couldn’t be [name]Ava[/name] due to rhyming with surname or [name]Mia[/name] because surname is also career based and I don’t think it really appropriate to condemn a little girl to sound silly or illiterate when introducing herself!

Boys names that we both love that at we think would go with [name]Lily[/name] are:
[name]Henry[/name]
[name]Harry[/name]

Thoughts? If we went with [name]Harry[/name] and [name]Lily[/name], what about another girls name to match?

Thanks xx

[name]Glad[/name] to see you think [name]Kate[/name] goes with both options - that’s my name!

Her grandfather is called Pop so couldn’t use [name]Poppy[/name], although that name is becoming quite popular around here lately too. [name]Alice[/name] is so cute but unfortunately there’s also negative associations, and [name]Julie[/name] is too close to the current prime minister, very negative association there, for my entire family…

However I’m loving [name]Amelia[/name] & [name]Alexandra[/name]! [name]Will[/name] run those past DP. Thanks

I don’t think you should use [name]Harry[/name] for a boy. [name]Harry[/name] and [name]Lily[/name], too much [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] vibe.

I think it’s fine, cool even.

I always picture [name]Lily[/name] with a little sister named [name]Madeline[/name]. I also like [name]Alexandra[/name] with [name]Lily[/name].

[name]Hi[/name] I think 1 of the best names for little brother would [name]Levi[/name]! Good luck with your new arrival I hope you get to enjoy them for a long happy lives.
