We have a daughter, [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] and are expecting baby #2 in [name_f]Spring[/name_f]. We have a boy name chosen but girl names are tripping us up.
Question: I love the name [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f] - but does it sound too similar to [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] (who we call [name_f]Maggie[/name_f])???
I don’t think it would be too bad if [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] goes by [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]… [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] and [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f] really don’t sound much alike. It does sort of create a Ma-theme though, which might not be desirable if you plan to have more kids and would feel obligated to stick with that.
I think [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] and [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f] look similar when written but sound entirely different. It wouldn’t be a deal breaker for me. However, as others have mentioned, you may want to consider then total number of children you want in your family to avoid an unwanted Ma- theme.
Would [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] be similar enough?
