You have a lovely shortlist! I’d say I’m looking for something short, slightly vintage, and upbeat. My favorite on your list is [name_f]Iris[/name_f], and I adore [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Autumn[/name_f]! [name_f]Autumn[/name_f], just because it is so stylistically different from [name_f]Margot[/name_f], is one I would hesitate with in the first name spot, but I’d love it as a middle. My apologies, but I am TERRIBLE with boy names, so I think I’ll refrain from comment there!
[name_f]Margo[/name_f] actually means [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] I believe, and I sometimes call her my little ocean pearl so maybe too close in meaning, although a beautiful name!

[name_f]Violet[/name_f]-I love it. It’s a simple feminine classic, but still has a little sparkle. It’s great with [name_f]Margo[/name_f] too. I do feel like it’s getting a little bit popular, if that bothers you.
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]-I don’t care for this one. It sounds harsh to me. It’s not awful though.
[name_f]Autumn[/name_f]-I don’t love this either, but it’s perfectly fine. I don’t think you’d run into a lot of other Autumns.

[name_u]Rex[/name_u]-Kind of cute, but kind of abrupt sounding.

We are still keen on [name_f]Iris[/name_f] but have ruled out [name_f]Violet[/name_f]- much as I love it my other half just doesn’t. We have added [name_f]Lissie[/name_f] as a girls name we love but unsure if it can stand alone rather than as a nickname? I also like [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] and am drawn to [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] although this hasn’t got much support from OH!
I absolutely adore all of the names in your original post! I’ve considered [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] in particular for my daughter coming in [name_u]July[/name_u]. And [name_u]Rex[/name_u] and [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] are on my list for boys.
I would probably go with [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] or [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] in the end or either [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] or [name_u]Rex[/name_u], and of the names on your newer list I adore [name_u]Jude[/name_u] (it’s on my list for a boy and is great with [name_f]Margo[/name_f]) and quite like [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] (I adore [name_f]Rose[/name_f], though).
BTW, in contrast to what has been said previously I feel like Autumn and Margo are beautiful together, pretty perfect really, so if I were you I’d keep that as an option.
