sibling for Marigold

[name]Hi[/name]!
We have a daughter [name]Marigold[/name] and are pregnant with no. 2…
What names do you think go with [name]Marigold[/name]?
We like names along the lines of [name]Agnes[/name], [name]Clementine[/name], [name]Florence[/name], [name]Fanny[/name] and [name]Monty[/name](for a boy!)
Thanks!

[name]Marigold[/name]? [name]How[/name] cute!

[name]Agnes[/name]: I’m personally not an [name]Agnes[/name] fan, but if I were, I’d still think [name]Marigold[/name]'s sister needs a more upbeat name (but that’s just me)…

[name]Clementine[/name]: I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Clementine[/name], and think it’s beyond fantastic with [name]Marigold[/name]!

[name]Florence[/name]: I think [name]Florence[/name] could work with [name]Marigold[/name], but part of me thinks the “[name]Flor[/name]” aspect creates too much of a flower theme. Hmm…The other part of me thinks [name]Flora[/name] would be cute.

[name]Fanny[/name]: I’d definitely stay away from [name]Fanny[/name] (inevitable teasing with fanny jokes), but I think [name]Frances[/name], nn [name]Franny[/name], is cute.

[name]Monty[/name]: I think [name]Monty[/name] is a great nickname for [name]Montgomery[/name].

[name]Marigold[/name] and:

We have a daughter [name]Marigold[/name] and are pregnant with no. 2…
What names do you think go with [name]Marigold[/name]?
[name]Agnes[/name] - Unless you live in a super cool place like Manhattan or [name]West[/name] L.A. and you want to make a bold statement, I think this is too vintage. Its time will come.
[name]Clementine[/name] - love it!
[name]Florence[/name] - love it, too!
[name]Fanny[/name] - great nn for [name]Frances[/name], [name]Francesca[/name], or [name]Francine[/name]
[name]Monty[/name] (for a boy!) - love it, agree with [name]Jill[/name] - nn for [name]Montgomery[/name].

Cute!

[name]Marigold[/name] and [name]Flora[/name] is really pretty
[name]Marigold[/name] and [name]Clementine[/name] is also really pretty
[name]Marigold[/name] and [name]Susannah[/name] ([name]Susan[/name] means lily)

[name]Marigold[/name] and [name]Ivy[/name] (love this one)
[name]Marigold[/name] and [name]Penelope[/name]
[name]Marigold[/name] and [name]Alice[/name]

hope I helped some!

Are you British or American? I ask because in the U.S., [name]Marigold[/name] is (as I’m certain you know!) a really unusual name, but a bit less so in the U.K. Therefore, I think her sister or brother’s name should be on the same quirky plane. [name]Monty[/name] definitely works, but as for the sister names, I think [name]Clementine[/name] is much more ordinary in [name]England[/name] but would be a good companion in the U.S. [name]Pearl[/name], which another poster suggested, might be fun as it’s an equally quirky gem name vs. flower name. [name]How[/name] about [name]Agatha[/name] instead of [name]Agnes[/name]? [name]Calliope[/name]? [name]Guinevere[/name]?

Of the names you suggested, I think [name]Clementine[/name] stands out as a natural match for [name]Marigold[/name].

I think that [name]Penelope[/name] and [name]Marigold[/name] go wonderfully together!

I find [name]Clementine[/name] a bit too matchy with [name]Marigold[/name], honestly. I love both names, though.

I love the suggestion of [name]Cordelia[/name] or [name]Dahlia[/name].

[name]Maisie[/name]
[name]Juniper[/name]
[name]Amaya[/name]
[name]Juliet/name

[name]Arlo[/name]
[name]Rupert[/name]
[name]Rufus[/name]

[name]Marigold[/name] & [name]Alice[/name] is nice as someone suggested

[name]Marigold[/name] & [name]Araminta[/name]

[name]Marigold[/name] & [name]Leanora[/name]

[name]Marigold[/name] & [name]Lucinda[/name]/[name]Lucretia[/name]

[name]Marigold[/name] & Apollina

[name]Marigold[/name] & [name]Elisabeth[/name] is pretty

[name]Marigold[/name] & [name]Isolde[/name]

[name]Marigold[/name] & [name]Honey[/name]

[name]Marigold[/name] & [name]Nesta[/name]

[name]Marigold[/name] & [name]Octavia[/name]

[name]Marigold[/name] & [name]Caroline[/name]

[name]Marigold[/name] & [name]Evangeline[/name]

[name]Marigold[/name] & [name]Dinah[/name]

[name]Marigold[/name] & [name]Meadow[/name]

[name]Marigold[/name] & [name]Clover[/name]

[name]Marigold[/name] & [name]Fenella[/name]/[name]Prunella[/name]

I really like [name]Marigold[/name]. Maybe you could do a little “M” theme:

[name]Marigold[/name] and [name]Minna[/name]
[name]Marigold[/name] and [name]Millie[/name] ([name]Millicent[/name])
[name]Marigold[/name] and [name]Matilda[/name]
[name]Marigold[/name] and [name]Maddie[/name] ([name]Madeline[/name])

or a flower theme:

[name]Marigold[/name] and [name]Hyacinth[/name]
[name]Marigold[/name] and [name]Camelia[/name]
[name]Marigold[/name] and [name]Holly[/name]
[name]Marigold[/name] and [name]Daisy[/name]
[name]Marigold[/name] and [name]Magnolia[/name]
[name]Marigold[/name] and [name]Poppy[/name]

or a color theme:

[name]Marigold[/name] and [name]Scarlett[/name]
[name]Marigold[/name] and [name]Plum[/name]
[name]Marigold[/name] and [name]Giada[/name] ([name]Jade[/name])
[name]Marigold[/name] and [name]Saffron[/name]
[name]Marigold[/name] and [name]Sienna[/name]
[name]Marigold[/name] and [name]Clementine[/name] (as was already suggested)

Whatever you pick, go with something that has a bright, cheerful connotation to be a match for [name]Marigold[/name]. Good luck with the new baby!

[name]Marigold[/name] is adorable. Now let’s work out an equally adorable sibling…

These are some from my own list;
[name]Alice[/name]
[name]Dinah[/name]
[name]Eliza[/name]
[name]Esme[/name]
[name]Florence[/name]
[name]Henrietta[/name]
[name]Iris[/name]
[name]Jane[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name]
[name]Penelope[/name]
[name]Philippa[/name]
[name]Prudence[/name]
[name]Tess[/name]/[name]Tessa[/name]
[name]Victoria[/name]
[name]Vera[/name]

Of these, I think the longer ones with more than two syllables work beautifully. [name]Josephine[/name] and [name]Henrietta[/name] sound quaintly Victorian when paired with [name]Marigold[/name]. [name]Penelope[/name] gives the set a very English edge (I should know, I am English). I also think [name]Philippa[/name] works marvellously.Of the shorter ones, I would recommend [name]Alice[/name], [name]Iris[/name] (not an immediate flower theme but a nice discreet one) and [name]Vera[/name].

wow!
Thank you so much for your fabulous replies!
I love that [name]Clementine[/name] is such a favourite- pam, i live in Australia…where [name]Clementine[/name] is becoming a bit more popular… but I’m not sure how common…
I agree we need an upbeat name to match [name]Marigold[/name]…
From your suggestions I love
[name]Esme[/name], [name]Mabel[/name], [name]Flora[/name], [name]Iris[/name], [name]Apolline[/name], lots of them actually!
What do you think of [name]Frida[/name]?
Thanks again for your ideas- I really appreciate your help!

[name]Genevieve[/name] was my first reaction. Otherwise, Amyris or [name]Clover[/name] might be nice.

So much fun to suggest names for someone with such adventurous taste! [name]Frida[/name] is a name that really seems terminally old-ladyish in the US. [name]Flora[/name] I absolutely love, but it and iris really get you into flower territory. [name]Love[/name] the idea of [name]Apolline[/name] – that seems very original and a real match for [name]Marigold[/name]. [name]Love[/name] [name]Esme[/name] and [name]Mabel[/name] though a bit more au courant and less edgy.

i love marigold and penelope.

can i ask what marigold’s middle name is?

I looked up avant-garde names on “search for names”. There are a lot of names that would sound great with [name]Marigold[/name] such as:
[name]Indigo[/name]
[name]Memphis[/name] - might be too matchy, but I like it!
[name]Prairie[/name]
[name]Saffron[/name]
[name]Thisbe[/name]
Also thought of:
[name]Juniper[/name]
[name]Jacaranda[/name] nn [name]Jackie[/name]

What about the name [name]Jacinda[/name], it is a form of [name]Jacinta[/name]-which means [name]Hyacinth[/name]…might be themey, but I love the name and think it would sound spunky and great with [name]Marigold[/name] (which is an awesome name by the way!)

[name]Pam[/name], i love [name]Apolline[/name] too! but my husband isn’t as keen… although he likes the name [name]Apple[/name]! so maybe it could be the nickname!!! although that’s a bit celebrity for me!
I also like [name]Juniper[/name], nickname [name]Juni[/name], but a bit too theme-y maybe…
[name]Marigold[/name] doesn’t have a second name.
What do you think of [name]Sukie[/name]?
Thanks again for all of your interest and suggestions! This is lots of fun!

I think [name]Sukie[/name] is a cute nickname for [name]Susannah[/name] or [name]Susan[/name], but it feels insubstantial to me on its own. It’s just me, but with the “suk” beginning, I’d also be worried about potential “Suck/Sucky” teasing. I so love [name]Marigold[/name]!

i love marigold and juniper. i don’t think they’re too theme-y, just cute!
