Hi! My son is Milo Alfred
If our next is a boy, we are thinking of Louis, call him Louie. It’s what Milo’s name was going to be. I always thought Louis was pronounced louie but I guess only in France I also love the boy names Charlie and Jack but I think I’m sold on Louie.
For a girl, I love Lucy and Mae.
With Lucy- I’d either do a middle name of Adele(Mom’s name), Adeline (great grandmothers name for which my mom was named) or Clementine. I don’t like Lucy Mae as I really only love Mae as a first name. I appreciate the simplicity.
I also love the name Lily but I don’t like it with Milo.
I think Mae Van Cleve has a nice ring to it. But we are all M’s and I kinda like the idea of not doing anymore M names. Milo and Mae is a cute sibset though. This is our last child. One little thing about Mae though- as a Marie, I’m afraid she’d have everyone say upon meeting her, “that’s my middle name” like they do with me- not that that’s bad but it’s a little annoying, lol.
As you can tell, I love Louie and Lucy best- but I’m open to suggestions and what you think sounds best with Milo and our last name. Thanks:)
Usually I err on the side of avoiding repeat initials in sibsets, but if you’re all M names apart from this baby then idk, it kind of feels like she’s left out? [name_u]Milo[/name_u] and [name_f]Mae[/name_f] are super sweet together and [name_f]Mae[/name_f] [name_u]Van[/name_u] [name_m]Cleve[/name_m] is sooo sophisticated.
Would you go with [name_f]Mae[/name_f] [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]? Then they’ve both got the same initials which is fun!
Really? It doesn’t feel a little kardashian- ish I love the way [name_f]Mae[/name_f] [name_u]Louise[/name_u] sounds but yea I’d prob do [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] to honor my mom and grandma. Milo’s middle name is after my dad.
Haha - okay, head me out, this is very subjective but to me it makes a difference that M is a more classic letter for names than K? Which feels so modern and they’re all more modern names. Whereas Milo and Mae are pretty timeless.
Haha, there is something about the letter K! I’m glad you see [name_u]Milo[/name_u] as timeless. I feel like only certain people know that, and lately I’ve been having a little bit of name regret because of it I thought of [name_u]Milo[/name_u] in the same category as [name_u]Henry[/name_u], [name_u]Jack[/name_u], and other timeless names. But I get comments on it all the time that make me think it is not seen that way. So thanks for that.
It feels ‘vintage cheeky chap’ to me, like Jack, but I guess he’s having a moment atm which makes him feel more popular/contemporary? It depends on the sibset to give him context, maybe.
I marginally prefer [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] to [name_f]Mae[/name_f] with your last name - the [name_f]Mae[/name_f] [name_u]Van[/name_u] bit sounds “Maven” to me (and I also prefer May) but I can see the appeal of [name_u]Milo[/name_u] & [name_f]Mae[/name_f]. Having said that, [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] isn’t the easiest run to [name_u]Van[/name_u] [name_u]Clyde[/name_u], so it’s very close all this! It wasn’t clear to me in the context of [name_f]Mae[/name_f] as a first, your comment about her needing to say it’s her middle?
As an aside, in Australia, [name_m]Louis[/name_m] would be presumed “Louie” pronunciation (and therefor no nickname [name_u]Louie[/name_u] required. [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] if S to be pronounced. I think [name_m]Louis[/name_m] and [name_u]Milo[/name_u] work well together.

[name_f]My[/name_f] name is [name_u]Marie[/name_u] and my name was a very popular middle name in the 80s so when I’d introduce myself as [name_u]Marie[/name_u]- people would say, “that’s my middle name” A [name_f]Mae[/name_f] would experience the same since [name_f]Mae[/name_f] is a very popular middle name. And I didn’t mean to suggest that it’s a big deal because it’s not but it is a little annoying to have everyone’s middle name as your first.

Also, I love the boy names you suggested particularly [name_u]Henry[/name_u] and [name_u]Harry[/name_u] but Milo’s cousin is [name_m]Henrik[/name_m] so we can’t do [name_u]Henry[/name_u] (but I’ve thought of it as a middle). [name_u]Harry[/name_u] is a family name on my husband’s side that no one in his family likes but me

[name_m]Louis[/name_m] or [name_u]Louie[/name_u] is soooo cute! I loved [name_u]Louie[/name_u] for a while but my name is [name_f]Lily[/name_f] and I felt [name_u]Louie[/name_u] and [name_f]Lily[/name_f] sounded too similar.
I also love the boy names Charlie and Jack but I think I’m sold on Louie.
