Sibling for Phoebe.......

[name_m]Just[/name_m] in the early days of being pregnant with our second and thinking names, I love classic names but nothing to unusual but at the same time not too popular, I also tend to like names with meaning it’s one of the reasons l fell in love with [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f].

Some names l really love are [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] (my husband isn’t 100% on this but lm working on it lol) but does it sound a little too similar to [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]? A little sing-song when you say them together really fast. [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] but as we have a long and difficult to pronounce surname the 3 syllables is putting me off, this is also the case with [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] and [name_f]Imogene[/name_f]. [name_f]Callie[/name_f] is also a favourite of mine but husband doesn’t like it. And some other favourites are [name_f]Astrid[/name_f], fraya and maeve all a big no from my husband: and [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] is also on the list we both like it but l don’t love it as l do my daughters name, any other suggestions please would be welcome?

Also boys we have always loved [name_m]Leo[/name_m], but now we have a [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] lm so worried about the whole charmed connection and people associating their names with this, I mean l liked the show but not enough to name my children over it. Would this worry you? Another one we love is [name_m]Samuel[/name_m], [name_u]Sam[/name_u] as NN you just can’t go past but it’s so popular and this puts me off although so is [name_m]Leo[/name_m] but l don’t seems to be overly worry over that.

[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] is such a pretty name  I do agree that [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] is too sing-songy with [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], and I would suggest [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] but if you want to steer clear of three plus syllable names that’s off the table.

As for your boys, I think that either [name_m]Leo[/name_m] or [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] nn [name_u]Sam[/name_u] would do well. I don’t know what the charmed connection would be and even for people that would I don’t think that would really matter in the long run. As you said, [name_m]Leo[/name_m] and [name_m]Samuel[/name_m]/[name_u]Sam[/name_u] are very popular, and for good reason. They’re great names and if you love them use them.

I wouldn’t worry about the [name_m]Leo[/name_m] situation. The reference to charmed didn’t even cross her mind! It will be totally irrelevant to your children’s friends and classmates growing up.

As for girl’s suggestions:
[name_f]Eileen[/name_f] - Meaning [name_u]Bright[/name_u], Shining one - This is my favorite for you, same meaning as [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_f]Edna[/name_f] - meaning Rejuvination/[name_f]Delight[/name_f]
[name_f]Maren[/name_f] - meaning Sea
[name_f]Esme[/name_f] - meaning Esteemed, [name_f]Beloved[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Mira[/name_f] - Admirable, peace

Boy’s suggestions:
[name_m]Louis[/name_m]/[name_m]Lewis[/name_m]
[name_m]Eli[/name_m]/[name_m]Levi[/name_m]
[name_m]Milo[/name_m]
[name_u]Theo[/name_u]
[name_u]Arlo[/name_u]

[name_m]Don[/name_m]'t worry about the TV show. I love the name [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], by the way! I love the suggestions of [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_f]Daphne[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], and [name_f]Esme[/name_f]. Here are a few more suggestions:

[name_f]Ada[/name_f] - [name_f]Ada[/name_f] is short, classic, and sweet, and complements [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] well, since both are feminine but not frilly and they have a similar style but a different sound. It has the same vintage feel that [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] has. Its meaning is “noble,” which I think is nice if you view “noble” in the sense of having a good character, and doing noble deeds.

[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] - [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] and [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] both have an upbeat, fresh sound while still being classic and historic. [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] and [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] have similar appeal in my opinion, and [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] also borrows a lot of letters from [name_f]Astrid[/name_f].

[name_f]Lila[/name_f] - Great if you’re looking for a name that is short and streamlined, yet elegant, as well as classic but not too common ([name_f]Lila[/name_f] is at #210 in the US). “[name_f]Lila[/name_f]” has a variety of meanings in different languages (lilac tree in Persian, night in Arabic, play/amusement in Hindi…I think it has a Hebrew meaning too but I can’t remember what it is). [name_f]Lila[/name_f] and [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] sound quite nice together [name_f]IMO[/name_f].

[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] - [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] means “light.” It’s definitely a classic and has the same upbeat, lively sound that [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] does. It’s a bit popular at #55 but it’s unlikely that there would be two [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]'s in one classroom.

[name_f]Lyra[/name_f] - Obviously very similar to [name_f]Lila[/name_f], but less popular. [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] is a constellation name, which I think is a lovely meaning. It also means “lyre,” which is nice if you like music. Like [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] is a Greek name with mythological ties.

[name_f]Maya[/name_f] - [name_f]Maya[/name_f] is a Greek mythology name, like [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], and is classic, streamlined, and lively. I love the alternate spelling of [name_f]Maia[/name_f].

[name_f]Zoe[/name_f] - Perfect if you’re looking for a short, classic name with a nice meaning ([name_f]Zoe[/name_f] means “life”). The only problem is its popularity – [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] is significantly more common than [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] is, at #35.

Good luck!

I think a name that is unambiguously feminine, classic, and “complete”-sounding would best coordinate with the gentle strength of the name Phoebe.

Lots of good suggestions here! My favorite for you might be [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] & [name_f]Irene[/name_f]. [name_f]Irene[/name_f] means peace. Or if you like [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], would you like [name_f]Sybil[/name_f]?

Other suggestions I especially like:
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] & [name_f]Adele[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] & [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] & [name_f]Louise[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] & [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] & [name_f]Cora[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] & [name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] & [name_f]Gwen[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] & [name_f]Lucille[/name_f]
Phoebe & Margot
Phoebe & Camille
Phoebe & Blythe

I love [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_f]Imogene[/name_f] and [name_m]Leo[/name_m] with [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]! So many great suggestions above but my faves with [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] are:

[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]

I wouldn’t worry about the Charmed association. I used to watch the show and it didn’t even occur to me! I’d suggest other boy names but [name_m]Leo[/name_m] really is so perfect with [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]!

So many good suggestions so only to add for what it’s worth: I love [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] with [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]. It matches, it’s more grounding than [name_m]Leo[/name_m] and [name_u]Sam[/name_u] is a cool nn.

I love the name [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] and decided to use this name since I am expecting baby girl #2 in [name_f]April[/name_f]. My other daughter’s name is [name_f]Vera[/name_f], which means either true or faith in Russian. They are both classic but underused names in my opinion. I think they go lovely together.

I’m not much help w the girls but I think [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] would work okay given it generic spelling and nn. For the boys I love [name_m]Leo[/name_m] and [name_u]Sam[/name_u] but just looking at the names you like I instantly thought of [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] popular but classic??? [name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f]

Ooh, [name_f]Vera[/name_f] is fabulous with [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]!!!
