My Husband and I are expecting baby number four in [name_u]June[/name_u] and we won’t be finding out the sex until the gender reveal party in [name_f]April[/name_f]. We want to honor our daughter [name_f]Laura[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u] in some way. We have some names and our other two kids (Ages 8 and 6) have given their suggestions as well but none of them seem to fit right. Our last name starts with S if that helps any.
Girls:
[name_f]Laura[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u] the Second (Husband’s Choice)
[name_f]Marnie[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] ([name_m]Robert[/name_m]'s Choice)
[name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] [name_f]Michelle[/name_f] ([name_f]Lillian[/name_f]'s choice)
[name_f]Hermione[/name_f] [name_f]Jade[/name_f] (My Choice)
I think it’s very sweet of you to honor the daughter that you lost, but naming baby #4 the same name is just not right. [name_u]Baby[/name_u] #4 is a different child and should be named as such. And naming a child (anything) the second is not cool- the baby isn’t the heir to the royal throne (or is he/she?)
[name_m]How[/name_m] about using the same initials? [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] [name_f]Joan[/name_f], [name_u]Lisa[/name_u] [name_f]Jade[/name_f], [name_f]Lisbeth[/name_f] [name_u]James[/name_u]?
for the boys: [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] [name_u]Jude[/name_u], [name_u]Logan[/name_u] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m]
Congratulations on your pregnancy! I do like the idea of same initials. What about [name_f]Lisbeth[/name_f] [name_f]Jade[/name_f] or [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]? Or [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]? Is [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] too close to [name_f]Laura[/name_f]? I do think they should have separate names.
What about [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] for a boy? It means peace, I think the style’s the same as [name_f]Laura[/name_f], and [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] sounds like [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]. What about [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u]?
For boys I actually love your son’s choice, [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Drake[/name_m]!
I agree with the other suggestions for girl’s names. Using the same initials would be a great way to honor [name_f]Laura[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u]!
The other two kids have R and L names, so I’d stick with that to connect the new baby to his/her living siblings, and perhaps add a third name with a J in honor/memory of his/her angel sister.
Sorry for your loss. Also congratulations on your pregnancy!
I like that all the names of your children are classics, so I am not really a fan of your current choices…
Some ideas for honoring [name_f]Laura[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u]:
[name_f]Loretta[/name_f]
[name_f]Lorraine[/name_f]
[name_f]Laureen[/name_f]
[name_f]Maura[/name_f]
[name_f]Maureen[/name_f]
[name_f]Jeanine[/name_f]
[name_f]Jeanette[/name_f]
[name_u]Jean[/name_u] [name_f]Louise[/name_f]? [name_u]Jean[/name_u] is really sweet as a first name. Nn [name_f]Jeanie[/name_f] is cute on a girl and sassy on a woman.
[name_f]Jana[/name_f]
[name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]? Similar to [name_f]Laura[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f]
[name_f]Nora[/name_f]
For a boy you could use [name_u]Laurence[/name_u] [name_m]John[/name_m] in the middle.
I, too, like the initials as homage but not the same name. Maybe ask [name_m]Robert[/name_m] and [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] for their suggestions; I see [name_m]Robert[/name_m] already has contributed "[name_f]Jane[/name_f].’’ Maybe [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] or [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], or [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f]. Boys: [name_m]Liam[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u], [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u].
Congrats!
I actually think [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Drake[/name_m] is a great choice from your list!
I think it’s lovely you want to honor your daughter. I would think perhaps using [name_u]Jean[/name_u] as a middle name for an girl and for a boy, maybe using the L.J initials.
My choices would be:
[name_m]Lucas[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]
And
[name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u]
I love [name_f]Marnie[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. I also love [name_m]Richard[/name_m] [name_u]Lake[/name_u] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Drake[/name_m]. Your daughter [name_f]Lillian[/name_f]'s names are adorable from a six year old, but are too babyish in real life. Your names seem more modern in style than the other kid’s names.
My condolences on your loss. I think naming another daughter the same name as the other one is too much. It places expectations for her to be the same person rather than her own. It lessens the place of the first one. It will confuse others who are not close family. It will confuse everyone if you tell a story in which [name_f]Laura[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u] is 3 as to whom you mean.
I agree [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] which means [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] just like [name_f]Laura[/name_f] does is an excellent suggestion. I also like L names including [name_f]Lorelai[/name_f]. I also like [name_f]Laura[/name_f] as a middle.
[name_f]Jessamine[/name_f] [name_f]Laura[/name_f]
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Laura[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] *
[name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Sadie[/name_f]* or [name_f]Sally[/name_f])*
[name_f]Norah[/name_f] [name_f]Remember[/name_f]*(an old tradition is to use [name_f]Remember[/name_f] as a name in remberence of someone else).
[name_f]Jeanette[/name_f] [name_f]Laura[/name_f]
(The starred names are my favorites. I particularly think [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] nn [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] is adorable. )
I hope this is healing time for you. I wish you all the best in the world.
Good [name_m]Luck[/name_m]!
I think a way to honor your daughter would be to put a form of her first name in the middle spot.
Like:
[name_f]Lauretta[/name_f]
[name_f]Lara[/name_f]
[name_f]Lorna[/name_f]
[name_f]Laurel[/name_f]
[name_f]Lowrie[/name_f]
or something with the same meaning like [name_f]Daphne[/name_f].
For your girl choices, I think that [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] [name_f]Jade[/name_f] is the best.
My suggestion would be [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Jade[/name_f], [name_f]Marnie[/name_f] [name_f]Laurel[/name_f], or [name_f]Lowrie[/name_f] [name_f]Michelle[/name_f].
For the boys, [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Drake[/name_m] is really handsome.
My suggestion would be [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Cannon[/name_m], [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] [name_m]Richard[/name_m], or [name_m]Phillip[/name_m] [name_u]Lake[/name_u].
You could use [name_f]Laura[/name_f]'s initials…[name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], [name_f]Liesl[/name_f] [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f], Lysandra [name_f]Josette[/name_f], [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] [name_f]Jemima[/name_f].
[name_m]How[/name_m] adorable is [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] Crayon!!!?
My vote would be [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] [name_f]Laura[/name_f] for a girl and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Laurence[/name_u] or [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] [name_u]Laurence[/name_u] for a boy (nn [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]).
EDIT: Sorry I had my husband write this for me while I got Lily and Robby ready for bed. What he was supposed to write was that we have come up with four names so far but are still looking for more names to choose from.
Girls:
[name_f]Lauren[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]- As a tribute to our daughter [name_f]Laura[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucinda[/name_f] [name_f]Celeste[/name_f]- [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f] means [name_m]Light[/name_m] and [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] means [name_f]Heavenly[/name_f] also as a tribute to our little [name_f]Laura[/name_f]
Boys:
[name_m]Richard[/name_m] [name_m]Jackson[/name_m]: Combining my husband’s choice and my choice together
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] ([name_u]Teddy[/name_u]) [name_m]Henry[/name_m]: Combining my daughter’s choice of [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] with my son’s choice of [name_m]Henry[/name_m]
[name_f]Lucinda[/name_f] [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] is absolutely beautiful. It goes amazing with [name_m]Robert[/name_m], [name_f]Lillian[/name_f], [name_f]Laura[/name_f], and [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f].
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] goes best with [name_m]Robert[/name_m], [name_f]Lillian[/name_f], and [name_f]Laura[/name_f].
I’ve already made some suggestions, but here is a couple more:
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_f]Miranda[/name_f]
[name_f]Madeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Grace[/name_f]
[name_f]Abigail[/name_f]
