Sibling for Scarlett and Lachlan?

Our third baby (the sex is a mystery!) is due in six weeks, and we are struggling to find a boy’s name. We are pretty set with a girl’s name, but for a boy, we’re trying to decide what we like and what sounds good with our two kids’ names: [name]Scarlett[/name] and [name]Lachlan[/name].

Here are our favorites at the moment:
[name]Josiah[/name]
[name]Simon[/name]
[name]Vaughan[/name] (after [name]Stevie[/name] [name]Ray[/name] [name]Vaughan[/name], my husband’s favorite)
[name]Casimir[/name] (although my whole family can’t get behind this one)
[name]Anders[/name]

The middle name will be [name]Matthew[/name]. Any feedback you can pass along will help!

[name]Josiah[/name] - I adore this name! I think it’s an underused Biblical name. Plus, it sounds great with your other kids’ names, and it also sounds great with [name]Matthew[/name]. ([name]Josiah[/name] [name]Matthew[/name]. So cute! )
[name]Simon[/name] - I like this. It’s another underused classic with good history. I’m not sure if you want two of your children’s names to start with the letter S though.
[name]Vaughan[/name] (after [name]Stevie[/name] [name]Ray[/name] [name]Vaughan[/name], my husband’s favorite) - Sure, why not? I kind of like it. It’s fresh and not common but not super unheard-of either. I think the spelling [name]Vaughn[/name] is a little easier, but if it’s after [name]Stevie[/name] [name]Ray[/name] [name]Vaughan[/name] and it has special meaning to you, than sure!
[name]Casimir[/name] (although my whole family can’t get behind this one) - I’ll be honest, I don’t like this at all. It sounds kind of evil to me. :? What about…[name]Casper[/name]? I wouldn’t even recommend that one because of its connection with the friendly ghost. [name]Jasper[/name]? [name]Calvin[/name]? [name]Cassius[/name]?
[name]Anders[/name] - Hmm. I actually know a boy named [name]Anders[/name], and everyone pronounces it wrong. It’s nice in theory, but I think in the end, it’ll be more of a headache. It just seems like a strange variation of [name]Andrew[/name], [name]Andre[/name], or [name]Andreas[/name] to non-name lovers. Why not [name]Andreas[/name]?

My top pick would be [name]Josiah[/name], and my second choice would be [name]Anders[/name]. I think [name]Josiah[/name], [name]Scarlett[/name], and [name]Lachlan[/name] make a great sibset, and [name]Josiah[/name] also works really well with your chosen middle.

In order:

  1. [name]Anders[/name] - This is my favourite with [name]Scarlett[/name] and [name]Lachlan[/name], but its a close tie with…
  2. [name]Vaughan[/name] - I think this sounds terrific with your other children’s names, and such a great name in its own right
  3. [name]Casimir[/name] - Fun and lively, though I can see where some people might take some adjusting to it
  4. [name]Simon[/name] - Wonderful name, but I wouldn’t like to have two names starting with ‘s’
  5. [name]Josiah[/name] -It okay, I think it sticks out a bit though, it just screams Biblical to me, especially if you go with [name]Matthew[/name] in the middle

I’m curious what is the girls name that you’ve chosen?

And a few options that popped into my head – (Also, I second pp’s suggestion [name]Reuben[/name])
[name]Cedric[/name]
[name]Keenan[/name]
[name]Isaac[/name]
[name]Alistair[/name] or [name]Alasdair[/name]
[name]Graham[/name]

I like, in order:
[name]Vaughan[/name] - Snazzy and fits nicely with both [name]Scarlett[/name] & [name]Lachlan[/name].
[name]Simon[/name] - I love [name]Simon[/name] (see my sig.) but Two S’s and one L is discomfitting to me. I’d feel bad for [name]Lachlan[/name].
[name]Casimir[/name] - If you and your other half love it, use it. To heck with your family (They’ll deal with it, usually by loving the kid no matter what) A real standout, [name]Casimir[/name] is. Feels more like [name]Scarlett[/name] than [name]Lachlan[/name], but still works with both.
[name]Anders[/name] - feels kind of plain next to your other choices.
[name]Josiah[/name] - feels too Biblical to mesh with [name]Scarlett[/name] & [name]Lachlan[/name]. I like it but… not with your older two.

I’ve had a few other thoughts:
[name]Conan[/name]
[name]Evander[/name]
[name]Fergus[/name]
[name]Graham[/name]
[name]Ronan[/name]
[name]Alastair[/name]
[name]Absalom[/name]
[name]Damian[/name]
[name]Felix[/name]
[name]Lucian[/name]
[name]Magnus[/name]
[name]Raphael[/name]
[name]Maxim[/name]
[name]Ezra[/name]
[name]Barnaby[/name]
