We are struggling with a name for our baby boy expected this [name]November[/name]. His brother’s name is [name]Alexander[/name], and we call him [name]Lex[/name]. We are considering:
[name]Niko[/name]/[name]Nikolas[/name]: do you like [name]Niko[/name]? Would you spell it [name]Niko[/name] or [name]Nico[/name]? and [name]Nikolas[/name] or [name]Nicholas[/name]?
[name]Max[/name]/[name]Maxim[/name]/[name]Maximilian[/name]: which version for the full name?
[name]Rowan[/name]
[name]Everett[/name]
other suggestions?
middle name will be Vietnamese, and last name is Pham.
[name]Nicholas[/name] nn [name]Nico[/name] would be a wonderful sibling for [name]Alexander[/name]. [name]Maximilian[/name] nn [name]Max[/name] has the same strong and masculine vibe as [name]Lex[/name].
[name]Niko[/name]/[name]Nikolas[/name]: My son’s nickname is [name]Nico[/name], short for [name]Dominic[/name]. The C spelling just looks nicer - use [name]Nicholas[/name] nn [name]Nico[/name] because [name]Nikolas[/name] is more likely to have spelling problems.
[name]Max[/name]/[name]Maxim[/name]/[name]Maximilian[/name]: I like [name]Max[/name] but [name]Maxim[/name] is a lad’s mag and [name]Maximilian[/name] is just too much for me. My favourite long form is [name]Maxwell[/name].
[name]Rowan[/name]: I like this but I’m hearing it more on girls so if that bothers you cross it off
[name]Everett[/name]: I like this too.
I have an [name]Alexander[/name], and if this one is a boy his name will be [name]Theodore[/name]. I also love [name]Nicholas[/name] and this would totally be on my list except for the fact that a friend already used the name. [name]Nicholas[/name] nn [name]Nico[/name] would be awesome. [name]Julian[/name], [name]Everett[/name], [name]Sebastian[/name], [name]Elias[/name], [name]Caspian[/name], [name]Desmond[/name], and [name]Edmund[/name] are also on our list for a boy – I like all of those with [name]Alexander[/name]. Good luck!
Thanks everyone. Many of those names are on our radar as well! I hadn’t realized [name]Rowan[/name] was used more for girls now…I appreciate too the advice about not choosing a first name that ends in -m…I hadn’t thought about the rhyminess [name]Leo[/name] would totally be in the top five but we named our cat that!
Yeah, I think it will be [name]Niko[/name]. I like the uniqueness of the K, and I am Finnish and [name]Niko[/name] is the Finnish form of [name]Nicholas[/name]. Since hubby is Vietnamese and we will definitely have a Vietnamese middle name, I need to get some of my heritage in there somewhere…since the kids look nothing like me!
