Sibling name for Josephine

Hi Berries

We have a 8 month old - Josephine Gloria nn: Josie, Jo, Joey, JosieG, etc. she has a lot of nicknames, but we primarily call her Josie.

We are planning for baby #2. Below is my name vibe:

  • Full names: classic, vintage, slightly European or established American

  • Nicknames: cozy, Southern, approachable (like Josie)

  • Emotional tone: warm family storytelling, not too formal, not too rustic

Think: “storybook Americana with heirloom roots.”

We really like these names so far:

Boys:

Vincent Otto (top favorite that both my husband and I agree on)

Harvey James

August James

Girls:

Margot Kaye (im pretty parcial to Margot in this list because I don’t like overly frilly Girls names, other two are my husband’s suggestions)

Loretta Joan

Eloise Kaye

Louella Kaye

Harriet (nn: Hattie) Kaye

Middle names are all family related. So for boys, it will either go James, Otto, Andrew, or Lawrence. For girls my first pic would be Kaye, then Joan.

My concern is, that some of these names are different vibes. Like Vincent and Josephine seem more regal to me. Versus Harvey and Loretta seem more southern charm. So I want names that will kind of blend the two in a cohesive way. I love longer names that kind of, have a strong formal sense, but have more southern charm front porch vibe nicknames. Hope that makes sense, all the help appreciate it! We’re hoping for two girls, and two boy name options that all kind of fit together cohesively if we were to have a full family set of two girls and two boys.

From your list, [name_m]Vincent[/name_m] [name_m]Otto[/name_m] feels like the strongest fit with [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Gloria[/name_f]. They both have that classic, slightly European, timeless feel without being overly formal. For the other boy options, [name_m]Harvey[/name_m] and [name_m]August[/name_m] also make sense, just in a slightly softer way.

For the girls, I agree with you that [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Kaye[/name_f] and [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] (Hattie) [name_f]Kaye[/name_f] are the strongest matches for [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]. [name_f]Margot[/name_f] feels especially cohesive with [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] in terms of style, while [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] brings in that friendly, vintage charm through [name_f]Hattie[/name_f].

Seconding others suggestions of [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f], [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]! As well as [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m], [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] and [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m].

My favorite sister name with [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Gloria[/name_f] “Josie” is [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] [name_f]Kaye[/name_f] “Hattie”. That’s just so beautifully cohesive, I adore it. [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Kaye[/name_f] would be my second choice.

I like [name_m]Vincent[/name_m] [name_m]Otto[/name_m] best from your boy list.
