[name_m]Hi[/name_m]! I would love your input as I’m due in 2 weeks and need to commit to a name
I am expecting my third son, my first 2 are named [name_u]Barrett[/name_u] and [name_u]Wyatt[/name_u].
We genuinely liked both of those names and did not intentionally choose 2 “tt” ending names, but it now feels weird not to have a “tt” for the third. Am
I overthinking that?
The name my husband and I agree upon and love the most is [name_u]Rhett[/name_u]. It is also my cousin and great-grandmother’s name which also feels special.
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think [name_u]Barrett[/name_u] and [name_u]Rhett[/name_u] are too close to each other as sibling names? We only call [name_u]Barrett[/name_u] by that name, and we pronounce it “Barr-itt”
I think it works. Like you said, they are pronounced differently. [name_u]Barrett[/name_u] and [name_u]Wyatt[/name_u] probably have more similar sounding endings (atleast the way I say them) and if that has worked out fine, then I’m sure [name_u]Rhett[/name_u] will too!
If you are looking to break the ‘tt’ ending, I think any name containing a T will tie them all together nicely!
If you’re planning on having more kids after this I would make sure you’re committed to the double T theme, because once you have three then I think it would be really weird to break the pattern.
I personally don’t like [name_u]Rhett[/name_u] with brother [name_u]Barrett[/name_u]. It’s like having [name_f]Adalyn[/name_f] and [name_u]Lynn[/name_u] or [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] and [name_m]Ian[/name_m]. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though they’re pronounced slightly differently it still feels like little brother doesn’t really have his own name. That being said, people pick really similar names all the time so if [name_u]Rhett[/name_u] is the only name you can agree on then it’s not the end of the world, I just personally wouldn’t do it.
If you do want to stick with the double T ending other options are:
[name_u]Bennett[/name_u] / [name_u]Beckett[/name_u]
[name_m]Hewitt[/name_m]
[name_u]Abbott[/name_u]
[name_u]Everett[/name_u] / Everestt
Forestt
[name_u]Elliott[/name_u]
[name_m]Truett[/name_m]
[name_u]Emmett[/name_u]
[name_u]Brett[/name_u]
[name_m]Brentt[/name_m] / Trentt / [name_m]Kentt[/name_m]
[name_m]Corbett[/name_m]
[name_m]Crockett[/name_m]
Another idea is to pick a name that contains double T but not necessarily at the end, like [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] or [name_u]Sutton[/name_u] or [name_u]Hutton[/name_u]. So then you’d continue the theme but not so closely.
Thank you! This will definitely be our last baby We like [name_u]Sutton[/name_u] as well and have also discussed it too, but just like [name_u]Rhett[/name_u] the most right now!
[name_u]Barrett[/name_u] and [name_u]Rhett[/name_u] are a little close for me. Would you consider [name_u]Everett[/name_u] with the nn [name_u]Rhett[/name_u]?
Sorry, I think it’s too close and I love [name_u]Rhett[/name_u]. You have had a lot of great suggestions.
[name_u]Barrett[/name_u], [name_u]Wyatt[/name_u] and
The end of the name [name_u]Barrett[/name_u] is the name [name_u]Rhett[/name_u] just spelled differently. It wouldn’t be my personal taste for that reason, but if it feels special to you and you’re not bothered by that I say go for it.
[name_u]Barrett[/name_u] and [name_u]Wyatt[/name_u] are so so so handsome ! And while I love [name_u]Rhett[/name_u] I do think it’s close to [name_u]Barrett[/name_u] . While [name_u]Barrett[/name_u] might be exclusively used right now his peers may call him [name_u]Rhett[/name_u] as he gets older .
Would you consider
[name_m]Garrett[/name_m]
[name_u]Merritt[/name_u]
Jerritt
[name_u]Brett[/name_u]
[name_m]Corbett[/name_m]
I also think it’s too close… [name_u]Barrett[/name_u] IS [name_u]Rhett[/name_u] with an extra syllable.
I think you have a lot of good suggestions though… especially like [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] as it matches the theme without being too rhymey with the bigger kids names (like [name_m]Garrett[/name_m] & [name_u]Barrett[/name_u] would be too much for me).
