Sibling names for Hermione and Dorothea

Hello everyone!

I currently have two little girls and am planning ahead about baby 3 names.

[name_f]My[/name_f] girls are called [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] [name_u]Maria[/name_u] (Minnie) and [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] (Dottie). I’m looking for a name that suits and also has an -ie nickname if it’s a girl.

I like the names [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] and [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] but they’re missing the ie nickname. For boys I like [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] and [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m].

Thanks in advance!

[name_u]Welcome[/name_u] to NB!

I love @bjoy’s suggestion of [name_f]Gustie[/name_f] as a nn for [name_f]Augusta[/name_f]! So cute and unique!

Others:

[name_f]Jacqueline[/name_f] “Jackie” I think this matches the length/elegance of the other girls’ names well!
[name_f]Constance[/name_f] “Connie”
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] “Ophie/Opie”
[name_f]Francesca[/name_f] “Chessie, Franchie”

Hopefully these help!

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

Your daughters’ names are so magical!

I think that [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] or [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] would be really nice for a brother. I particularly like them for the nns [name_m]Abe[/name_m] & [name_u]Rafe[/name_u].

I don’t love [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] for a girl, but I think it’s neat & different & fits in well. I do think that [name_u]Ollie[/name_u] is a sweet nn. It’s pretty common for a boy is the only problem; lots and lots of little Olivers running around. I slightly prefer [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] & do like the nn [name_u]Augie[/name_u]. [name_u]Augie[/name_u] is also used more for a boy, so I don’t know if it would be a deal breaker for you. Maybe [name_u]Gussie[/name_u] is more feminine?

Sorry for any repeats, but how do you like…

Boys-

Augustus/Augie/Ace/Gus

Barnabas/Barnes/Barney

Basil/Bash

Bastian/Bash

Caius/Cai

Caspian/Cas/Caspi

Cassius/Cas/Cash

Crispin/Kit

Ignatius/Gus

Percival/Percy/Pip

Peregrine/Penn/Pip

Tristan…ooh, no nn, but I love it with [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] & [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f].

Girls-

Antonia/Nonie

Estella/Ellie/Essie

Georgiana/Georgie

Isolde/Idgie

Penelope/Nellie

Rosalind/Rosie

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.

[name_f]Augusta[/name_f] could be [name_u]Augie[/name_u], [name_u]Ozzie[/name_u], or [name_u]Ossie[/name_u]?
[name_f]Olympia[/name_f] could be [name_u]Ollie[/name_u], [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Pippi[/name_f]?

[name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] ‘Brosie’ and [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] ‘Raffie’ are great!

With [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] and [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] (Minnie and Dottie), I’ll suggest:

[name_f]Georgiana[/name_f] (Georgiana)

[name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] (Tabby, Tibby)

[name_f]Susannah[/name_f] (Susie, [name_f]Sukie[/name_f], Sunnie)

[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] (Rosie, Romie)

[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] (Josie, [name_f]Posie[/name_f], Effie)

[name_f]Cressida[/name_f] (Cressie)

[name_f]Estella[/name_f] (Essie)

[name_m]Donovan[/name_m] (Donnie)

[name_m]Frederick[/name_m] (Freddie, Rickie)

[name_m]Benedict[/name_m] (Bennie)

[name_m]Edwin[/name_m] (Eddie)

[name_m]Montague[/name_m] (Montie)

Your girls’ names are lovely!

[name_m]Jonathan[/name_m]
[name_m]Nathan[/name_m]

[name_f]Bridgett[/name_f] (Bettie?)
[name_f]Ethel[/name_f] (Ellie?)
[name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] (Jossie?)

Augusta nn Aggie or Olympia nn Lily? They’re a bit of a stretch but work.

Ophelia - Ophie, Lia

Primrose - Prim, Rosie, Rose, Pip

ETA - forgot Primrose!

Great names. I don’t know why no one else is using [name_f]Dottie[/name_f]. [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] (Augie) and [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] sound really good with your girls names.

[name_f]Gorgeous[/name_f] girls’ names - and I’m a massive fan of [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] (and [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] but [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] is a long term fave of mine).

If I had an [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] & a [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f], and wanted to stay on theme, the third sister would probably be:

[name_f]Persephone[/name_f] (Percy, [name_f]Perrie[/name_f], Sephie, [name_f]Posey[/name_f], Poppy)
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] (Josie, Sephie, [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], Posey)
[name_f]Primrose[/name_f] (Posey, Rosie)
[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] (Rosie, Romy)
[name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] (Annie, [name_f]Stacie[/name_f], Stasi)

But there’s also:
[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] (Gwinny)
[name_f]Cressida[/name_f] (Cressie)
[name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f] (Gwenny)
[name_f]Arcadia[/name_f] (Cady)
[name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] (Tally)
[name_f]Andromeda[/name_f] (Annie, Romy)
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] (Cordy, Deeley, Lily)
[name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] (Millie, Amy)
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] (Raylie)
[name_f]Philippa[/name_f] (Pippy)
[name_f]Constance[/name_f] (Connie, Tansie)

If you really wanted one of your picked, maybe [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] (Gussie, [name_m]Auggie[/name_m], [name_f]Aggie[/name_f] or Stacie) and [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] (Ollie, [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Pippie[/name_f], Moppy)?

Girls
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] (Ellie)
[name_f]Constance[/name_f] (Connie)
[name_f]Roseline[/name_f] (Rosie)
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] (Angie or Evie)
[name_f]Margret[/name_f] (Maggie)
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] (Lizzie)
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] (Josie)
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] (Tillie)
[name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] (Cassie)
[name_u]Lauren[/name_u] (Lollie)
[name_f]Juliette[/name_f] (Julie or Ettie)
[name_f]Edith[/name_f] (Edie)
[name_f]Adaline[/name_f] (Addie)

Boys
[name_u]Carter[/name_u]
[name_m]Jaxon[/name_m]
[name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] (Nick)
[name_u]Jordan[/name_u]
[name_u]Cooper[/name_u]
[name_u]Bodhi[/name_u]
[name_u]Arthur[/name_u] (Artie)
[name_u]Henry[/name_u]
[name_m]Preston[/name_m]
[name_u]Rhys[/name_u]
[name_u]Wesley[/name_u]
[name_u]Jude[/name_u]
[name_u]Cohen[/name_u]
[name_u]Saint[/name_u]

Thank you everyone for your suggestions! A lot of the names mentioned are either too similar to family names or already on my friends lists - eg my best friends future baby name is [name_f]Calliope[/name_f] (poppy).

I’m currently thinking [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f] (Cassie) as its Greek and she’s a particular favourite character of mine. For a boy I have no idea as my husband is apparently very picky! We seem to make girls though so I’m not too worried yet.

I’d go with [name_m]Benedict[/name_m] “Ned” and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] “Penny”.
