Sibling names: Kennedy and Quinn?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] All!
My husband and I are expecting our second daughter in a few weeks. We already have a daughter named [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]. Sticking with the Irish surname theme we had picked [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] for this baby girl. However, I’m starting to question if the names (and nicknames) [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] and [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] sound too similar to one another. Would absolutely love opinions.
Thanks!

I don’t think they sound too similar. Would you use a nickname with [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u]? It’s long enough that I would think you will end up with one, and I would consider how it sounds with [name_u]Quinn[/name_u].

Nope, I don’t think they’re too similar!

I find [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] and [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] to be a very heavy sibset. I would like to suggest O’[name_f]Hara[/name_f]/[name_u]Ohara[/name_u].

I think style wise they go together well but I do agree that they sound a bit similar since they both start with that hard Q/K sound. Instead of [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] have you considered [name_u]Delaney[/name_u]? It has the same rhythm of [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] but doesn’t sound like [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]. [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] and [name_u]Delaney[/name_u], [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] and [name_f]Lainey[/name_f] is very nice.

Other suggestions:
[name_u]Riley[/name_u]
[name_u]Devin[/name_u]
McKenzie
[name_u]Reagan[/name_u]
[name_u]Shay[/name_u]

I think they are lovely together.

Thanks for the reply. I think we would call her K or [name_f]Kenna[/name_f] as a nickname for [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u]. We call my daughter Q or Quinny.

Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks for the feedback! I do like the suggestion of [name_u]Delaney[/name_u]! We’ve also considered [name_f]McKenna[/name_f] but seem to be more drawn to the more gender neutral Irish surnames.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

I think [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] and [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] complement each other nicely. Go with your gut!

Stylistically, they go together. But they seem heavy together with the Qu- and K- very similar sound. What about…

[name_u]Delaney[/name_u]
[name_u]Riley[/name_u] / [name_u]Reilly[/name_u]
[name_u]Reagan[/name_u] / [name_u]Regan[/name_u]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
[name_u]Blake[/name_u]
[name_u]Darcy[/name_u]
[name_u]Darby[/name_u]
[name_u]Lane[/name_u]
[name_u]Larkin[/name_u]
[name_u]Payton[/name_u]
[name_u]Sage[/name_u]
[name_u]Shay[/name_u] / [name_u]Shae[/name_u]
[name_u]Sloane[/name_u] / [name_u]Sloan[/name_u]
[name_u]Wren[/name_u]

Definitely not too similar

The full names aren’t too close, but there’s definitely a difference between ‘name’, ‘nickname’, and ‘convenience at home’–and I think in that last category you’d potentially have [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] and [name_m]Ken[/name_m] (as in, “[name_m]Ken[/name_m]? Dinner!”) in the same house, which are too close. I’m the sort of person who shortens names down to one syllable without thinking about it, so that would be the case in my house

I really like the suggestions of [name_u]Darcy[/name_u]/[name_u]Darcey[/name_u], [name_u]Delaney[/name_u], [name_u]Shea[/name_u], and [name_u]Rowan[/name_u].

[name_u]Casey[/name_u]
[name_m]Callahan[/name_m]
[name_u]Dylan[/name_u]
[name_u]Fallon[/name_u]
[name_u]Flannery[/name_u]
[name_u]Lennon[/name_u]
[name_f]Merrin[/name_f]
[name_u]Rory[/name_u]
[name_u]Tierney[/name_u]

I absolutely adore both names ([name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] is our #1 for a girl too), and I think [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] and [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] make a lovely set together!

I think they work well together. [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] and [name_f]Kenna[/name_f] are adorable as sisters!

I know a [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] that goes by the nickname [name_f]Dee[/name_f] so no problems with [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] if that is a nickname used. I suppose if you use the nickname [name_f]Kenna[/name_f], it would too similar.

I would assume [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] and [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] were brothers.
