Sibling names of different lengths?

[name]Do[/name] any of you find it odd when a sibling set has names of contrasting lengths? For example, as much as I love the names [name]Ophelia[/name] and [name]Bram[/name], I don’t like them together because [name]Ophelia[/name] is so long while [name]Bram[/name] is so short. This is probably me just being picky, but does it get to anyone else?

It would bug me if I saw a sibset with a [name]Kim[/name] and a [name]Maximilian[/name] or something like that. But I wouldn’t think twice about ophelia and bram. Seriously, ophelia is only three letters longer than [name]Bram[/name].

I agree that it seems to matter more with the same gender, especially sisters. It reminds me of a book I read ages ago about two sisters named [name]Ann[/name] and [name]Isabelle[/name]. [name]Ann[/name] told her sister that their original names were [name]Annabelle[/name] and Is. [name]Annabelle[/name] felt bad that her sister’s name was just “Is”, so she gave the “abelle” part of her name to her. I would try to balance out two girls’ names fairly equally, but for a boy and girl a little difference is fine.

I agree, when the names are of different lengths within the same gender it stands out and bugs me a little. [name]Just[/name] not something I would do. I like a lot of longer names, but in reality, probably wouldn’t use a name longer than 3 syllables because I don’t like how it sounds in my sib set. What makes me fall in love with names even more is if they go fantastically with my other children’s names. Not just “ok” but amazing sounding! Haha. I like a lot of names so it helps me to narrow it down.

I think it depends on the names.

Nope. That’s never bothered me at all. I actually really like [name]Ophelia[/name] and [name]Bram[/name] together, they give me similar vibes.
