We have a few names still on our list that aren’t as common as my other 3 kids, but I do really like them. Names are [name]Elias[/name], [name]Silas[/name], [name]Jude[/name], and [name]Theodore[/name] ([name]Theo[/name]). [name]Just[/name] curious if we’d be better off letting go of these as possibilities due to them being much more uncommon than my other three kids… [name]James[/name], [name]Noah[/name], and [name]Lucy[/name]. The more common choices on our list are [name]Elijah[/name], [name]Oliver[/name], [name]Henry[/name], [name]Peter[/name] (not in top 100, but still seems pretty mainstream), [name]Liam[/name], [name]Adam[/name], [name]Isaac[/name], [name]Samuel[/name], [name]Seth[/name] (not in top 100, but same as [name]Peter[/name]), [name]Ethan[/name], and [name]Caleb[/name].
We go back and forth with all of these names, but still like the sound of [name]Elias[/name], [name]Silas[/name], [name]Jude[/name], and [name]Theo[/name]. Should we save these names for pets and/or admire them with other families with sibsets where they seem to fit better? Or else keep them in the pool? Thanks
And, is it a big deal that none of my kids have nn’s, yet we’d probably call [name]Theodore[/name] “[name]Theo[/name]” if we went with this one?
I love [name]Silas[/name], [name]Elias[/name] and [name]Jude[/name] and they’re not really uncommon in the Nameberry community but may be in the population where you live. If you don’t mind that [name]James[/name], [name]Silas[/name] and [name]Elias[/name] all end in the same letter and that [name]Jude[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name] both have a prominent “u” sound, then I would encourage you to choose one of them. I love spunky [name]Oliver[/name] and the underused [name]Peter[/name] as well as Biblical classics [name]Isaac[/name] and [name]Samuel[/name]. I love [name]Ethan[/name] too but this name was No# 2 in the US in 2010 (that’s 17,866 boys). Here are my ratings for your names.
1 [name]James[/name], [name]Noah[/name], [name]Lucy[/name] and [name]Peter[/name]
2 [name]James[/name], [name]Noah[/name], [name]Lucy[/name] and [name]Isaac[/name]
3 [name]James[/name], [name]Noah[/name], [name]Lucy[/name] and [name]Samuel[/name]
4 [name]James[/name], [name]Noah[/name], [name]Lucy[/name] and [name]Jude[/name]
5 [name]James[/name], [name]Noah[/name], [name]Lucy[/name] and [name]Silas[/name]
I love your names you’ve chosen for your kids! [name]James[/name], [name]Noah[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name] go perfectly together My favourite from the 4 you have listed is [name]Elias[/name]. [name]Jude[/name] I love but is too close to [name]James[/name], [name]Theodore[/name] or [name]Theo[/name] I also love but I find [name]Theo[/name] too close to [name]Noah[/name] and the long form too long; [name]Silas[/name] I like also but I find [name]Elias[/name] better for the set. My favs to go with your kids:
[name]James[/name], [name]Noah[/name], [name]Lucy[/name] & [name]Elias[/name]
[name]James[/name], [name]Noah[/name], [name]Lucy[/name] & [name]Felix[/name]
[name]James[/name], [name]Noah[/name], [name]Lucy[/name] & [name]Ambrose[/name]
[name]James[/name], [name]Noah[/name], [name]Lucy[/name] & [name]Samuel[/name]
Wish you the best, and no you don’t have to steer completely clear of the top 100 just find one you love
[name]Hi[/name] Audreyjacqueline, thanks for your input! Funny you mentioned [name]Felix[/name]. I actually really do like that name, but had some friends tell me that [name]Felix[/name] seems to bring the ‘pet’ name out in now both [name]Lucy[/name] and [name]Felix[/name]… when paired together. Never really thought of that, but I guess these two names could be popular for dogs/cats… and when paired together, could see how people might think I’m picking popular pet names for my kids ah, so hard to name kids!!! Why are so many people naming their pets such beautiful children names! kidding…
Also thanks to [name]Mischa[/name] for the input. I love the way [name]Isaac[/name] sounds, but for some reason, I just am not found of writing the name out. Would not deviate from the original spelling, but just for some reason, feels weird to write the double a. silly, I know.
hmmm… [name]Just[/name] learned that the monk from Da [name]Vinci[/name] Code’s name was [name]Silas[/name], too. Not sure how I feel about that association and like [name]Elias[/name] just as much.
[name]Samuel[/name] and [name]Peter[/name] are such great names, I just keep getting hung up on [name]Pete[/name] and [name]Sam[/name]!
Yikes! In the state we live in, [name]Noah[/name] was the #1 name chosen!!! [name]Beat[/name] out [name]Jacob[/name], afraid that our little [name]Noah[/name] now has a name that’s soaring on the popularity charts. And #2 was [name]Liam[/name]… which happens to be my husband’s favorite name choice as of now! Really not keen on having two of my kids have the #1 & #2 names in our state. But need to bring out some good positivity in some of these other names for my hubby to see beyond [name]Liam[/name]
Really, I don’t think popularity should ever be a factor unless it’s extreme. Like [name]Sophia[/name] and Scheherazade.
[name]James[/name], [name]Noah[/name], [name]Lucy[/name], and [name]Jude[/name] are great.
[name]James[/name], [name]Noah[/name], [name]Lucy[/name] and [name]Theodore[/name] are as well.
[name]James[/name], [name]Noah[/name], [name]Lucy[/name] and [name]Elijah[/name].
[name]James[/name], [name]Noah[/name], [name]Lucy[/name] and [name]Henry[/name].
[name]James[/name], [name]Noah[/name], [name]Lucy[/name] and [name]Peter[/name].
[name]James[/name], [name]Noah[/name], [name]Lucy[/name] and [name]Oliver[/name].
They all work wonderfully. No one else is going to notice that [name]Henry[/name]'s name is less common than [name]Lucy[/name], [name]Noah[/name], or [name]James[/name].
I like [name]James[/name], [name]Noah[/name], [name]Lucy[/name], & [name]Oliver[/name] best.
I love [name]Jude[/name] but it starts with the same letter as [name]James[/name].
[name]Theodore[/name] with theo as a nickname doesn’t go when you have a [name]James[/name] called [name]James[/name].
[name]Henry[/name] and lucy rhyme if that makes a difference, and end the same way, which none of your other kids names do.
[name]Elijah[/name] ends the same as [name]Noah[/name] and [name]James[/name], [name]Noah[/name], and [name]Elijah[/name] are very biblical together.
I can’t get over pete with [name]Peter[/name] either.
That leaves [name]Oliver[/name], which I love with the rest of your names
With [name]James[/name], [name]Noah[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name] I really like [name]Seth[/name], [name]Samuel[/name], [name]Caleb[/name] and [name]Ethan[/name]
