Siblings Ana, Elena, Isabel, Sebastian, Nicolas and?

I find out on [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] if it’s a boy or girl, but we’ve almost always had our names chosen way in advance and its killing me! Here’s our “rules,” so to speak: We try to keep it something that will go easily in both English and Spanish as my husband’s family speaks Spanish, mine English. (I generally prefer uncluttered Spanish spellings though.) I prefer three syllable names. No made-up names. No uni-sex names. Boys already named have middle names after their grandfathers, and if this one is a boy, the middle name will be [name_m]Andres[/name_m], after his dad. And more than likely, if a girl, the middle name will be [name_f]Fay[/name_f] after my mom.

And here’s the kids I do have:

[name_f]Ana[/name_f] [name_f]Maria[/name_f] (adopted–already named, although [name_f]Ana[/name_f] [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] had been on our list before the adoption)
[name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] (named before above adoption)
[name_f]Isabel[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]
[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_m]Jack[/name_m]
[name_m]Nicolas[/name_m] [name_m]Orlando[/name_m]

For boys, I was thinking [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_m]Andres[/name_m], but it hasn’t hit me as “the one” yet. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband likes [name_m]Ruben[/name_m] [name_m]Andres[/name_m] (me, not so much.) I’m at a loss really for boys names. Not even any other possibles…

For girls, I love [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] [name_f]Fay[/name_f], or [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Fay[/name_f] or [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Fay[/name_f]. I also love the name [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] and several variations of it, like [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f]. But unfortunately I HATE [name_f]Margarita[/name_f] and so it kind of bugs me that it wouldn’t fit as well with the rest of our Spanish spellings. Also I like [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] better than [name_f]Luisa[/name_f] which bugs me for the same reason. And I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] but can’t stand [name_f]Alicia[/name_f]. I don’t know, my mom says I’m silly to make such a fuss about the names all fitting with each other, but it really does bother me. ([name_f]My[/name_f] in-laws called me [name_f]Camila[/name_f] quite a bit at first because [name_f]Kami[/name_f] (my name) was weird to them–I don’t want that happening to our kids, it seriously bugs me!) [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] and/or [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] seem to be on top right now, but I’ve loved [name_f]Louisa[/name_f], [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] since I was little and am having trouble letting them go since this will probably be our last. Sigh. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband is rooting for [name_f]Sofia[/name_f], but it’s SO popular, especially now with [name_f]Princess[/name_f] [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] (the Disney show), and it already bugs me to hear [name_f]Isabel[/name_f], [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], etc everywhere we go. (I had fought against [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] because of it’s popularity, but my husband won on that one.) Anyway it’s [name_f]MY[/name_f] choice this time.

Sorry to rant so much. I hope that all made sense.

Oh, my sisters say if it’s a girl I should chose an “O” name, as in A, E, I, O…

For a boy, how about [name_m]Mateo[/name_m] [name_m]Andres[/name_m]?

I love your children’s names! Good luck and congratulations.

[name_f]Odetta[/name_f] [name_f]Fay[/name_f]
[name_f]Oriana[/name_f] [name_f]Sofia[/name_f]
[name_f]Oceane[/name_f] [name_f]Fay[/name_f]
Oleander [name_f]Sofia[/name_f]
[name_f]Ooma[/name_f] [name_f]Sofia[/name_f]
[name_f]Uma[/name_f] [name_f]Fay[/name_f]

It’s too bad that you already used [name_f]Maria[/name_f]/[name_f]Marie[/name_f] as middle names, because [name_f]Maria[/name_f] feels like a perfect fit with the sibset. I also love [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] with the sibset, but not with [name_f]Fay[/name_f] as the middle name. With your girls’ names, you seem to favor Spanish variations of classic names ([name_f]Anne[/name_f], [name_f]Helen[/name_f], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]), so what about [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] ([name_f]Lucy[/name_f]), which feels like a compromise between [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] and [name_f]Sofia[/name_f]? Or [name_f]Catalina[/name_f] ([name_f]Catherine[/name_f])? [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] ([name_f]Rose[/name_f])? [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]? I would suggest [name_f]Veronica[/name_f], but maybe not with brother [name_m]Nicolas[/name_m]… [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] doesn’t stand out too much as being different from the other names, and I agree that it is much prettier than [name_f]Luisa[/name_f]. [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] and [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] are also great choices, but I would personally prefer for all the kids to have a different initial if possible, although it’s certainly not the end of the world if you do repeat an initial.

As for the boys, [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] and [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] are two of my favorites, so here are some other favorites of mine that would work in English and Spanish: [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]/[name_m]Alejandro[/name_m], [name_m]Valentin[/name_m], [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m], [name_m]Raphael[/name_m], [name_m]Victor[/name_m], [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]. There’s also [name_m]Anthony[/name_m]/[name_m]Antonio[/name_m], but that wouldn’t really work with [name_m]Andres[/name_m] as the middle name.

[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Ofelia[/name_f] [name_f]Fay[/name_f]? It sounds similar to [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] but is less popular and starts with an O.
