[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone,
Please excuse my [name_f]English[/name_f].
We are a family in Taiwan, and [name_f]English[/name_f] teachers here always ask parents to choose [name_f]English[/name_f] names for the kids. The names are mostly used in [name_f]English[/name_f] classes, probably in work places when they grow up, and when they travel/study abroad. The names are not likely to be on any official documents, but since I hope they will use the name happily for the life, I still want to be serious about this.
I have a 7-year-old boy named [name_u]Emmett[/name_u]. [name_f]My[/name_f] sister has a 5 year-old-boy named [name_u]Archer[/name_u].
(I have been always responsible for naming the kids.)
Now I also have a 4-month baby boy, and my sister a 8-month baby girl. I hope them to have names that go well with each other since we are very close.
Here are some names I like:
Boy ([name_u]Emmett[/name_u]'s brother)
[name_u]Flynn[/name_u]: I see that the meaning of it is “son of a red-haired one”. I like the sound of this name but would this be strange on an [name_f]Asian[/name_f] black-haired boy?
[name_u]Callum[/name_u]: I like the meaning of it because this boy is a very peaceful and quiet baby.
[name_u]Miles[/name_u]: This sounds cute to me but I am not so sure if it goes well with [name_u]Emmett[/name_u].
Girl ([name_u]Archer[/name_u]'s sister)
[name_f]Blythe[/name_f]: This would be my favorite for now but I am struggling because it is hard to pronounce for most people here in Taiwan.
[name_u]Indigo[/name_u]
[name_f]Tessa[/name_f]
[name_f]Esme[/name_f]
I am open for other suggestions and would appreciate any response. Thank you
From your boy list, I love [name_u]Callum[/name_u] the most for you. It sounds great with [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] and seems to fit your son. Other boy name suggestions I have for you are:
For your sister’s baby, my personal favourite on your list is [name_f]Esme[/name_f]! I also really love [name_f]Blythe[/name_f], but I understand why you’re hesitant about it.
Other suggestions for girl baby names:
Emmett and [name_u]Archer[/name_u] are handsome names
Flynn-I don’t think many people know the meaning, so I don’t think it would be an issue! It’s a very handsome name.
Callum-this is my favorite for you!
Miles-this is also really nice!
Blythe-this is sweet but I can see why it would be hard to say
Tessa-this is my favorite girls name for you!
Esme-this is also sweet
Indigo-while I like this one, it is not very well established as a name in [name_f]English[/name_f] yet, more of a word. I still really like it though!
Miles is perfect with [name_u]Emmett[/name_u]! I love [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] and I think it goes well with [name_u]Archer[/name_u]! I think you have great taste in names and these all sound like they’d go well together.
Thank you so much for the replies.
It’s a relief to know that the names all go well together.
From your wonderful opinions the boy will be [name_u]Callum[/name_u] or [name_u]Miles[/name_u],
and the girl will be [name_f]Esme[/name_f] or [name_f]Tessa[/name_f].
We still have time until we make the final decision
Emmett and Archer have something in common – they are both 2 syllable names that have a consonant repeated in both syllables. This probably makes them easier to pronounce, Im guessing!
Emmett: (em-met) … Repeats the M
Archer: (ar-chur) … Repeats the R.
Keeping with pattern might be nice and help the names all flow nicely together.
