My husband and I are expecting another girl. We love the name [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] but we already have a daughter named [name_f]Grace[/name_f]. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though we like [name_f]Grace[/name_f] [name_u]Kelly[/name_u], we’re concerned with having both a [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and a [name_u]Kelly[/name_u]. Thoughts?
Siblings [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] will scream “We are huge fans of [name_f]Grace[/name_f] [name_u]Kelly[/name_u].” I don’t see any way around the association. I would advise to keep looking.
I agree. The connection would be made by plenty of people and is best avoided. Could you go with something similar to [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] like [name_u]Keely[/name_u], [name_f]Kiera[/name_f], [name_u]Nelly[/name_u], [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]?
The association is immediate and strong. If it doesn’t bother you because you love the names, go for it. But I would personally keep looking unless it’s THE name.
I would definitely notice the connection right away, but a lot of the younger generations don’t know who [name_f]Grace[/name_f] [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] is, so it’s more likely to be adults who’d notice rather than their peers. You could use [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] as a middle name; not that many people would know/remember what that is. There’s also [name_f]Callie[/name_f] and [name_f]Kylie[/name_f] if you want something similar to [name_u]Kelly[/name_u].
I actually didn’t catch the connection initially.
I only noticed the connection because you put [name_f]Grace[/name_f] then [name_u]Kelly[/name_u], if it was [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] then [name_f]Grace[/name_f] I wouldn’t have noticed.
I don’t know why you’d need to “keep searching” for a name… what’s wrong with the [name_f]Grace[/name_f] [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] association? She was a beautiful, poised actress. I don’t see the problem! As mentioned, the generation of your daughters most likely will not know who Grave [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] was and probably many of their parents won’t either. But so what if they do?! I just don’t get the problem. If [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] is the name, use it! [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] are lovely!
I honestly didn’t think of [name_f]Grace[/name_f] [name_u]Kelly[/name_u]
I definitely noticed the connection straight away however if it doesn’t bother you go for it. I suggest keep looking but if you don’t find another name you love go with [name_u]Kelly[/name_u]
I agree. Go with what you love. [name_m]Even[/name_m] if people do make the connection, [name_f]Grace[/name_f] [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] is a fabulous connection.
I made the connection immediately (though as stated previously that may not have occurred if you had put [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] and [name_f]Grace[/name_f]. However I feel that we usually list children in age order meaning that it will always be [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_u]Kelly[/name_u]). Also tbh I don’t really know who [name_f]Grace[/name_f] [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] is but still know the name, I think she was mentioned in a rap song or some kind of song? I would personally avoid it and go for something similar to [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] as stated above
I didn’t know about [name_f]Grace[/name_f] [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] until I saw this, but if that is a concern, maybe not.
I’d recommend using [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] as a middle name to avoid this.
Strangely enough I don’t know who’s [name_f]Grace[/name_f] [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] is.
I like [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] together. I have a sister named [name_f]Racquel[/name_f] that goes by [name_u]Kelly[/name_u]. I think [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and [name_f]Racquel[/name_f] are nice together too - they both have that classic, beautiful feel.
If you love the name [name_u]Kelly[/name_u], go for it!
I immediately made the association however if you like the name I don’t think you should worry about it. Plus [name_f]Grace[/name_f] [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] is a lovely association. I also like the suggestion of [name_f]Raquel[/name_f] nn [name_u]Kelly[/name_u].
I wouldn’t, but I’m old enough to remember [name_f]Grace[/name_f] [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] as the princess of Monaco, plus my mom’s family is from [name_u]Philly[/name_u], so I heard a lot about her when I was growing up. She was a lovely person, from what I understand.
I like the suggestions from pps about similar names: [name_f]Callie[/name_f]/[name_f]Calli[/name_f]/[name_u]Cali[/name_u]/[name_f]Kali[/name_f], [name_u]Keely[/name_u], [name_u]Keeva[/name_u]…
I think you’d better find a different name for baby #2!
I wouldn’t put these two names together, both for the reason mentioned of [name_f]Princess[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f], and also because they don’t feel quite right together to me. [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is so elegant and timeless and [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] isn’t quite in the same league to me. Maybe like other people have suggested a name that can be shortened to [name_u]Kelly[/name_u], like [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] or [name_f]Raquela[/name_f] or [name_f]Calla[/name_f] or [name_u]Calypso[/name_u]… Congratulations and best of luck whichever way you choose!
I have no idea who [name_f]Grace[/name_f] [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] is =p
I do agree with a pp that [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] both have a different feel to them. I don’t know if [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] is the name for you, though, cause if it is, I would say don’t worry about it.
