Siblings To A Unisex Named Sibling

Hey,

I’m simply curious to see other people’s opinions, but how do you think a sibling to an already unisex named sibling should be named? For example, if you have a boy named [name_u]Skyler[/name_u] or a girl named [name_u]Avery[/name_u], do you believe any future kids of the same sex should also have unisex names to keep a theme, or would it not sound weird to have a pairing like [name_u]Skyler[/name_u] and [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] (both boys) or [name_u]Avery[/name_u] and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] (both girls)? What about kids of the opposite sex, do you think names more firmly in the boy or girl camp should be used instead?

Sorry if it’s somewhat long. I don’t see many posts about this topic and I’m curious to get others’ perspectives.

I would keep with the theme! It’s not a huge deal either way but I would definitely think it was a little odd if I heard of siblings named [name_u]Skyler[/name_u], [name_u]Avery[/name_u] and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]. [name_u]Skyler[/name_u], [name_u]Avery[/name_u] and [name_f]Willow[/name_f] or [name_m]Levi[/name_m] would fit a bit better.

An interesting topic!

I think it depends on the names and exactly how unisex they are. A lot of the time more traditionally masculine names are used on girls, so for example if you had siblings [name_m]Huxley[/name_m], [name_u]Spencer[/name_u], and [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] I’d probably assume [name_m]Huxley[/name_m] and [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] were boys, since [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] has such a feminine name. Whereas [name_m]Huxley[/name_m], [name_u]Spencer[/name_u], and [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] I’d probably be more open minded. [name_u]Skyler[/name_u] and [name_u]Avery[/name_u] are neither more masculine or more feminine in my opinion, [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is obviously very different stylistically so I’d be a bit thrown.
