My partner and I have honed in our top baby name. The trouble now is finding a middle name and sibset to match.
We have chosen to use my maiden name, McConlin (exclusively would be called Mac) regardless of gender for our first baby. Our naming criteria is gender neutral names, modern yet with classic roots, names with meaning, word names, and naturey names. Our last name is Dale.
We would love your feedback and help in finding some middle names and sibset names that flow with bold and punchy, Mac Dale while still having flow with longer full name McConlin.
MN ideas we like but don’t feel quite right:
McConlin (Mac) Juniper Dale
Mac Clover Dale
Mac Laurel Dale
Mac August Dale
Mac Francis/Frances Dale
Mac Lysander Dale
Mac Cedar Dale
Mac Winslow Dale
Mac Sylvan Dale

Thanks Greyblue! I love so many of your suggestions. [name_m]Rory[/name_m] is a name we’ve discussed as a sibling to [name_m]Mac[/name_m] but can’t get over [name_m]Gilmore[/name_m] Girls connection.
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]My[/name_f] fave MNs of your suggestions are [name_m]Mac[/name_m] [name_m]Evander[/name_m] [name_m]Dale[/name_m], [name_m]Mac[/name_m] [name_f]Hadley[/name_f] [name_m]Dale[/name_m], [name_m]Mac[/name_m] [name_f]Bronte[/name_f] [name_m]Dale[/name_m].
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]My[/name_f] fave sibset names you suggested are [name_m]Mac[/name_m] and [name_m]Penn[/name_m] and [name_m]Mac[/name_m] and [name_m]Ashby[/name_m].
[name_f][/name_f]
To clarify, future baby [name_m]Mac[/name_m] would always go by [name_m]Mac[/name_m] not McConlin so we are looking for a middle name that flows well with [name_m]Mac[/name_m] too. We are also looking for sibset names that are short and sweet like [name_m]Mac[/name_m] or have a short nickname.
I adore that you are considering your maiden name! [name_f][/name_f]In some languages and cultures, using the mother’s surname or maiden name as a middle name or surname is tradition. I believe it is a wonderful way to honor your side of the family. Would you consider McConlin as a middle name? In that case, you can place your favorite names in the first spot and choose the sibsets that come most naturally to you.
[name_f][/name_f]
For example, [name_f]Juniper[/name_f] McConlin would be amazing! I love [name_f]Clover[/name_f], [name_m]August[/name_m], [name_m]Cedar[/name_m], [name_m]Sylvan[/name_m] and [name_m]Alder[/name_m] from your list. They could all work for siblings!
[name_f][/name_f]
For a boy, you can even consider [name_m]Colin[/name_m], [name_m]Conan[/name_m], [name_m]Connor[/name_m] and [name_m]Conrad[/name_m] as honor names. Names ending in -lin like [name_f]Carolin[/name_f], [name_f]Elin[/name_f], Marcelin could be interesting, too. Perhaps, [name_m]Macsen[/name_m] and [name_f]Macy[/name_f] could work.
We are definitely set on [name_m]Mac[/name_m] and not other McConlin variations but the creative suggestions are great.
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Bay[/name_f], [name_m]Auden[/name_m], [name_m]Garnet[/name_m], [name_m]Jem[/name_m], [name_f]Adley[/name_f] are all great ideas! Our dog is actually named [name_m]Parry[/name_m] (vs. usual spelling Perrie) after an important place name for us and [name_f]Clarke[/name_f] is what we would name another pet too. So you are very spot on!
