I’m not expecting, but bored and trapped under a sleeping baby and I like to plan…
Daughter is [name_f]Robyn[/name_f]. If we have another girl in the future I think I’m becoming more and more set on [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] (honour name), though my other love was [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] ([name_f]Grace[/name_f] also honour name). We were thinking maybe 3 kids all up - though one’s harder than i expected! - so while there’s a possibility of no more girls there’s also a possibility of two more girls…
With sibsets, do [name_f]Robyn[/name_f], [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] and [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] sound okay? I feel like [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] and [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] don’t work together, they’re to l and s heavy (which our surname is also). But I love the meaning of [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]. I also love [name_u]Josie[/name_u], but [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] and [name_u]Josie[/name_u] would be too much together right? [name_f]Kate[/name_f] feels like it would go better with [name_f]Robyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Elsie[/name_f], such different sounds, but I don’t think it has enough personal meaning for me.
And if we did go for [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] for another girl, I’m stuck on the mn. Thought about using the [name_f]Grace[/name_f] there so I get to use it, but I’m not convinced. Child would then have 2 honour names and nothing their “own” if that makes sense, and [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is also so very common, plus I’d love to have a nature name to do with forests or fresh water somewhere (we love hiking, and with current overpopulation/pollution the natural environment feels so sacred and special)… but I can’t seem to find one that fits.
[name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_u]Rain[/name_u] or [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_u]River[/name_u]? I never thought I’d use a word-name.
[name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_f]Bronte[/name_f]? I’ve like [name_f]Bronte[/name_f] since I was a kid but something about the -ay sound at the end seems a bit try-hard or something to me. I’m not sure why. Maybe cause of names like Renesme or whatever from twilight?!
There’s lots of ocean names I love eg [name_f]Maren[/name_f], but honestly the sea doesn’t have quite the same life-bringer fresh wonderful vibe as morning dew or mist or fresh clear rivers or springs or rain!
Any thoughts or suggestions on sibsets or middles?! I feel like there must be something I’m missing.
[name_f]Robyn[/name_f],[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] and [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] work together-they’re different but cohesive
[name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_u]River[/name_u] is lovely! I also thought of [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_u]Brooke[/name_u] and [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] Talulluah
I love the suggestion of [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_u]Brooke[/name_u]! I think [name_f]Robyn[/name_f] , [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] and [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] are a dynamic trio. And [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is beautiful and I love that it honours so many.
[name_f]Robyn[/name_f], [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] and [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] definitely work together! [name_f]Kate[/name_f] would also be a great addition (I agree that [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] and [name_u]Josie[/name_u] would be too much though) but if it doesn’t hold the same personal meaning to you, then I’d go with [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f].
[name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_u]Rain[/name_u], [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_u]River[/name_u] and [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_f]Bronte[/name_f] (I say bron-tee, but I don’t think the ay sound is too try-hard) are all lovely! Since you said that you wanted [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] to have something of her own, is [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] a possibility? I think it’d work really well! Some other ideas:
[name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_f]Maya[/name_f] (“water”)
[name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_f]Talia[/name_f] (“gentle dew from heaven; by the water”)
[name_f]Elsie[/name_f] Dew/Mist (maybe a bit out there? I think either would be a cool choice)
[name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_u]Adair[/name_u] (“shallow place in a river near oaks”)
[name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_f]Ria[/name_f] (“small river”)
[name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_f]Eyre[/name_f] (“gravel bank river” plus it has a Brontë connection!)
[name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] (“dew of the sea”)
[name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_f]Nebula[/name_f] (“mist”)
[name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_f]Noelani[/name_f] (“heavenly mist”)
Thank you so much for all the feedback. It’s good to know that they sound okay as a sibset to others, and that [name_u]Rain[/name_u], [name_u]River[/name_u] or [name_f]Bronte[/name_f] could work! Although I knew [name_u]Josie[/name_u] would be too much I’m still a little sad that it won’t be usable, but unlikely I’d have two more girls anyway.
I’d never really given much thought to [name_u]Brooke[/name_u]… you know when just because you knew someone at school with a name it sounds kind of ‘dull’ to you when it’s probably actually not dull at all? I think it might grow on me.
I’ve never heard of [name_u]Adair[/name_u] before, it’s got a really beautiful flow with [name_f]Elsie[/name_f]. And I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the meanings of [name_f]Talia[/name_f] and [name_f]Noelani[/name_f]! I’m worried that with our surname the L sounds are a bit much, getting tongue-twisty… but they might still work.
I also think [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] and [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] are a little too close. I love [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]. I like [name_u]Josie[/name_u] much more than [name_f]Elsie[/name_f]. [name_f]Robyn[/name_f], [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f], and [name_u]Josie[/name_u] are sweet. I love the flow of [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_u]River[/name_u].
If you wanted to use [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] and decide to replace [name_f]Elsie[/name_f], you could use [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] or [name_f]Elle[/name_f]. The sound is so similar and they fit much better with [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]! I also think [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] would be even cuter with big sister [name_f]Robyn[/name_f]. [name_f]Robyn[/name_f], [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], and [name_f]Elle[/name_f] would be adorable.
