Which goes best with [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]? The name needs to be able to be pronounced similarly in both [name_f]English[/name_f] and Romanian. The names we had shortlists don’t seem to match well with her name.

Yes I love this too but after speaking with our in law’s it’s been struck off. [name_u]Camille[/name_u] is too similar to camel on romanian

Aurelia and [name_f]Aveline[/name_f]
Aurelai and [name_m]Albert[/name_m]

I’ll start out with my nay votes, just because narrowing down the options always helps me get to the point where I can evaluate each remaining name on its own instead of having them all blur together.

Disclaimer: I have no idea how any of my suggestions would be pronounced in Romanian, so apologies for any weirdness in that department.

Aveline, Adalita - I find these both so similar to [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] that I don’t think they give each other the chance to really shine individually. Alternatives that have similar feelings to me: [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanora[/name_f], [name_f]Madeline[/name_f], and [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f].

Gia - I feel that this is so short and nicknamey compared to [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]’s lilting four syllables. The good news is, [name_f]Gia[/name_f] could easily be a nickname for something longer, such as [name_f]Georgia[/name_f], [name_f]Giada[/name_f], [name_f]Giuliana[/name_f], or even [name_f]Gisella[/name_f].

Leo - This name actually combines my objections to the first two. It feels very short and simple next to [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f], and it also shares similar sounds. [name_m]Leo[/name_m] could be a nickname for something longer, like [name_m]Leander[/name_m], [name_m]Leonidas[/name_m], [name_m]Leopold[/name_m], or [name_m]Galileo[/name_m].

Rawdon - I had to look this one up because I was unfamiliar with the name, but did not want to assume it was made up. Indeed, it’s a legitimate place name / surname, meaning “red hill.” I do get quite the stylistic clash between Rawdon and [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f], however. It has a very modern appearance, while [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]’s Latin origin make her feel very ancient, and Rawdon also has a more truncated, abrupt sound. Suggestions that might be more lyrical next to [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] or carry a similar feeling of age: [name_m]Roman[/name_m] or [name_m]Romulus[/name_m], [name_u]Rigel[/name_u], [name_m]Riordan[/name_m], [name_m]Raphael[/name_m] or [name_m]Rafael[/name_m], [name_m]Roland[/name_m], [name_m]Remiel[/name_m], [name_m]Roderick[/name_m], and [name_m]Rainier[/name_m].

Albert - Although I think this is a perfectly fine name, it doesn’t seem to be as much of a stylistic fit with [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] as some of your other options, and it also shares the first letter, which isn’t so much of an issue until you hit baby number 3 and have to decide whether you’ve locked yourself into a theme of A names.

Camille - I was iffy about this one, because I think it’s beautiful, and in many ways a [name_u]Camille[/name_u] would pair wonderfully with an [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. They do share several sounds in the middle, however, and further down the thread I see that you let this one go due to the similarity to the Romanian word for camel. Good call, that.

And now for the yay votes! Much more fun, don’t you think?

Seraphina - Oh my goodness, the thought of a pair of sisters name [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] just has me swooning! I feel like these names are a perfect fit. They share the same number of syllables, but almost no repeated sounds. Stylistically, they’re both ancient and powerful, yet undeniably feminine and with a dash of celestial vibes. And I don’t know if synesthesia enters into the equation for you at all, but I get very complementary colors and imagery from these two names. [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] is all burnished angel wings and white-gold fire, while [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] is soft, pink-tinged metallic, like rose gold and honey and the sun rising behind frothy clouds.

Some combo suggestions:
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f]

[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] [name_f]Fleur[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] [name_f]Dawn[/name_f]

Marcellus - I think [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] and [name_m]Marcellus[/name_m] make an absolutely stunning sibset. They share that sense of being names out of time, like regal members of the nobility from ancient [name_u]Rome[/name_u]. For sound, they both have a beautiful balance of softness and power. The lengths are complementary, and while they share similar letters, there’s not much overlap in pronunciation, making them both distinct and harmonious. [name_m]Marcellus[/name_m] gives me warm bronze, studious brown, and gentle white, like an inkwell with a soft plumy quill.

Combo suggestions include:
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_m]Marcellus[/name_m] [name_u]North[/name_u]
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_m]Marcellus[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_m]Marcellus[/name_m] [name_u]Ash[/name_u]
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_m]Marcellus[/name_m] [name_u]Jude[/name_u]
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_m]Marcellus[/name_m] [name_u]Gray[/name_u]
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_m]Marcellus[/name_m] [name_u]Finn[/name_u]
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_m]Marcellus[/name_m] [name_u]Jasper[/name_u]
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_m]Marcellus[/name_m] [name_m]Thorn[/name_m]
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_m]Marcellus[/name_m] [name_u]Rex[/name_u]
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_m]Marcellus[/name_m] [name_u]Quill[/name_u]
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_m]Marcellus[/name_m] [name_u]Fox[/name_u]
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_m]Marcellus[/name_m] [name_m]Grant[/name_m]
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_m]Marcellus[/name_m] [name_u]Theo[/name_u]
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_m]Marcellus[/name_m] [name_m]Felix[/name_m]
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_m]Marcellus[/name_m] [name_u]Wolf[/name_u]

Runner up: [name_m]Lucius[/name_m] - Like [name_m]Marcellus[/name_m], I feel like this name is the perfect “era” for [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f], cut from that same ancient [name_m]Roman[/name_m] cloth. The only reason it did not win my top vote - because objectively, I prefer [name_m]Lucius[/name_m], [name_m]Lucian[/name_m], etc. to [name_m]Marcel[/name_m] or [name_m]Marcellus[/name_m] - is because I feel like the sounds overlap a bit more with [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] than those of [name_m]Marcellus[/name_m], which is more distinctly unique. This is just a minor nitpick, however. I think sibset of [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] and [name_m]Lucius[/name_m] would be absolutely stunning!

Combo ideas:
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_m]Lucius[/name_m] [name_m]Grant[/name_m]

Omg thankyou thankyou thankyou for the in-depth analysis.

Out of your suggestions, I love [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] [name_f]Belle[/name_f], [name_m]Marcellus[/name_m] [name_u]Gray[/name_u] and [name_m]Marcellus[/name_m] [name_u]Rex[/name_u].

I would have to check with my husband though if “[name_u]Rex[/name_u]” is like having [name_m]King[/name_m] as a middle name in regards to it having a modern feel like the other noble modern names: [name_m]Prince[/name_m], [name_u]Duke[/name_u] etc.

Just a bit of background on Rawdon because it is one of my favourites and has been for a while. I read Vanity Fair when I was 13 years old and fell in love with the bad boy nature of Rawdon Crawley (character). If you don’t know what I’m talking about and love a period drama watch the movie with [name_u]Reese[/name_u] Witherspoon. So I understand the modern appearance but it’s actually Georgian, but I get that it has a [name_f]English[/name_f] feel to it and [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]’s is [name_m]Roman[/name_m]. Unfortunately everyone in the Romanian side of the family is [name_m]Romulus[/name_m] and I think [name_m]Roman[/name_m] would sound weird for them to pronounce.

Lucius is a very common name for my husband and ofcourse he knows someone that reminds him of the name but I was able to get him consider it because of the possibility nm lucky or lux.

Additionally my husband has thrown a spanner in the works and is keen set on including a third middle of Dominus in the boys name. Which I am not a fan over because of the “dominant” connotations. If we could fit it in well with the other names I might consider it.

Our last name is Russian sounding and a word for family in Czech. It ends in “[name_f]Ina[/name_f]”.

[name_f]My[/name_f] fav for a sister is [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] & [name_f]Giselle[/name_f] and [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] & [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f]! For a bro it would be [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] & [name_m]Lucius[/name_m] (one of my fav names, I never thought of the nickname [name_u]Lux[/name_u], I really like it!) and [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] and [name_m]Marcellus[/name_m]. I like the idea of [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] and [name_m]Leo[/name_m] but because [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] ends in LEA I think they might be too similar, [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] and [name_m]Leopold[/name_m] or [name_m]Leonide[/name_m] would be adorable though!
