I like [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] more than [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], but I find the [name_m]Archimedes[/name_m]/[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] sibset much more appealing.

I adore Philipa and Cordelia, but they don’t have that strong sound Beatrix has to blend well with Archimedes so I would opt for Beatrix over the two.

As for Isadore, I think IT IS too similar to Theodore AND Isabella. I would forgo it all together.

I really love both of them with [name_m]Archimedes[/name_m], but I slightly prefer [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], especially for her adorable nickname! If the option was for [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] I would choose her over [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], but seeing as [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] has special meaning for you, I don’t think you should give it up.

I also don’t think [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] is too close to theodore, but I resent the nickname [name_f]Dora[/name_f] so I can’t vote for her name because of that lol!

I actually prefer just [name_f]Bea[/name_f].
Not fond of the [name_f]Trix[/name_f]/Tricks part.

I also really like both with [name_m]Archimedes[/name_m]! [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] is obviously one of my favorite names but I think I ever so slightly prefer [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] in this sibset. It seems to hold up to [name_m]Archimedes[/name_m] a bit more. Oh but I like [name_m]Archie[/name_m] and [name_f]Bea[/name_f] as nicknames together best! So cute! [name_m]Archie[/name_m] was on my list for a boy

I love your other names but I don’t think they suit [name_m]Archimedes[/name_m] as well. I’d also probably avoid [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] if his middle name is [name_m]Theodore[/name_m].

Thank you all for your feedback so far! I wish I didn’t struggle with girl names so much, finding the right one has been proving so tricky.

While I don’t hate [name_f]Dora[/name_f], if I were to go with [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] I’d be inclined to use the nickname [name_f]Izzie[/name_f].

I don’t think [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] being close to [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] is an issue. Like [name_m]Ptolemy[/name_m], [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] is one of my all time favourites, but I’m not sure if she fits with [name_m]Archimedes[/name_m]. I think [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] work better, but [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] is my preference; she’s so elegant and romantic sounding. In my opinion [name_f]Hypatia[/name_f] from your sig would be perfect! Some other nn options for [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f], I’d use [name_f]Ora[/name_f]/[name_f]Aura[/name_f], and [name_f]Cora[/name_f]’s there too.

I love both names, but with [name_m]Archimedes[/name_m] I think [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] fits better  [name_m]Archie[/name_m] and [name_f]Nell[/name_f], how cute is that??

Thanks you all for weighing in!

@myosotis- I can’t believe I didn’t think of [name_f]Cora[/name_f]! [name_f]Nell[/name_f] is so cute but [name_m]Archie[/name_m] and [name_f]Cora[/name_f] is fantastic.
I love [name_f]Hypatia[/name_f] so much but I have reservations about naming a baby [name_f]Hypatia[/name_f] [name_m]Harris[/name_m].
I’m kinda feeling emboldened by how many people don’t think [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] as a first is too much with [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] as her brother’s middle. (I still love [name_m]Archie[/name_m]'s full name but sometimes I wish I’d thought longer on a mn so I wouldn’t feel so restricted from other -dor names)
I might do a separate poll on this topic specifically.

I’m wondering if I couldn’t use [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] as the mn with some of my combos instead? I was trying to work it as a fn for so long that I never even played with it in the middle.

My favorites are [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Isadora[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] is fine with [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] in the middle. I would say no if [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] was the first name, but they are different enough if one is the middle. [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] works too but I have been hearing it a lot so it doesn’t sound as funky as [name_m]Archimedes[/name_m]. I love [name_u]Neely[/name_u] as a nickname for [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f]. Prefer [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] to [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], which feels more frilly for some reason. [name_f]Philippa[/name_f] is cute too.

I just commented on your other thread to say that I think [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] is fine since [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] is her brother’s middle name. But I do think [name_m]Archie[/name_m] & [name_u]Dory[/name_u] or [name_m]Archie[/name_m] & [name_f]Dora[/name_f] sounds better together than [name_m]Archie[/name_m] & [name_f]Izzie[/name_f].

I love [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f]; I prefer it to [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]. I think the nicknames [name_u]Neely[/name_u], [name_f]Cora[/name_f], and [name_f]Nell[/name_f] are all great. [name_m]Archie[/name_m] & [name_f]Cora[/name_f] is wonderful together!

[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]?

I have to say I’m definitely beginning to lean toward [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] as a combo!

And that’s a fair comment concerning [name_f]Isadora[/name_f]. [name_f]Dora[/name_f] is certainly more classic sounding, but I’m so charmed by the idea of [name_f]Izzie[/name_f]. Of course others could end up calling her [name_f]Dora[/name_f] and it would stick, that’s how [name_m]Archimedes[/name_m] became [name_m]Archie[/name_m] to begin with lol.

Thank you for the feedback!

I’m afraid I’ve never been keen on [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] – I think it’s the ‘corn’ sound as well as the incredibly dated feel I myself get from it – so my vote went straight to [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]. I do quite like [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], but would still prefer [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]. I also think [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] goes best with [name_m]Archimedes[/name_m] of the two, too.

Also, I think [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f] would make a lovely combo, swapping out [name_f]Claudia[/name_f] for [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] (your signature).

[name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Cora[/name_f], [name_f]Nia[/name_f], [name_u]Cory[/name_u], [name_f]Coco[/name_f], [name_f]Nelia[/name_f]!

[name_u]Love[/name_u] both sibsets honestly, but partial to [name_m]Archie[/name_m] and [name_f]Nell[/name_f]. [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] feels more regal and [name_m]Roman[/name_m] and feels more majestic with [name_m]Archimedes[/name_m], [name_f]IMO[/name_f]. Can’t go wrong with either, though!

Thank you for your feedback folks!

[name_f]Sunniva[/name_f]: the combo [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f] is soooooo pretty. I had chosen [name_f]Claudia[/name_f] as a honor name for my late great grandpa, but it isn’t a must so [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] is absolutely worth considering. I’ve also toyed with going in a more nature-y direction instead and doing [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u] [name_u]Wren[/name_u]

@pindorama- thank you for so many nn suggestions!

@afineskyline- that’s totally the vibe I get from [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] as well.

I too find girl names much more difficult. A great many always seem to have problematic historical/mythological associations e.g. [name_f]Acantha[/name_f], [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f].

I think both [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] are absolutely lovely. I’m currently living in the UK and [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] is quite popular - is that a concern? I don’t think [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] is problematic with [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] - not like [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] would be.

[name_m]Just[/name_m] some thoughts:

[name_f]Euphemia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Effie[/name_f]
[name_f]Forsythia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Thia[/name_f]

[name_m]Archimedes[/name_m] is a fantastic name - definitely on my favourites list too!

@hypatiently thank you for your response!
The popularity in the UK won’t be a problem as I live in the states where [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] isn’t even in the top 1000. Same goes for [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Isadora[/name_f].

I love the suggestion of [name_f]Euphemia[/name_f]! [name_f]Effie[/name_f] is a darling nickname.
